Gareth does come off as a bit of a twit, ignoring Annie like that. I mean, even if he doesn't take her seriously, he could at least shoot her down so she doesn't do anything stupid.
He'd rather let someone else shoot her down. If no one does, then yeah, he will probably say something next post, or when they are actually going somewhere. Besides, the stare + headshake was already meant to indicate his disapproval.

What age are you considering "adult"? I'm curious because you've got one, maybe two people there that fit the bill - not counting completely normal civilian NPCs - and one of them already said they weren't getting involved.
Alright, I'll change it to "the people closer to his age."

Well, in that case, if anyone that is actually closer to his age wishes to respond first, go ahead. Admittedly, that actually doesn't change much of anything when it comes to who he's looking towards, but hey, whatever, there's 0 need for me to be nitpicky about it.
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.
Hey, Westy, anything cool or unusual to expect from your RP in progress thus far? I think talking about a role-play, while it is being produced, is a good idea because we can share thoughts, comments, ideas, suggestions, and whatnot, get people involved early on and see what we can do.
Hmm, I guess I could share a little of what I have brainstormed~!
So, the world ended 200 years ago, with the surface consisting of nothing but sand and rubble. Humanity, on the other hand, lives on in floating islands that are organised into city-states. Living conditions are akin to the 1900’s-early 2000’s, with technology existent but not overbearing in everyday life. Basically, everything is cosy and peaceful for the most part, and while people might go hungry, it’s unlikely any competent management would let people starve (by accident).
I feel it’s important to create this sense of “normalcy” to begin with, so we can really begin terrorising it. You see, there is this magical foci called a “Chronicle” which affects reality. Chronicles aren’t quite sentient beings (you’d never hold a conversation with one), but they do have a will – and most chronicles have a piss poor impression of humanity. Thus, when they were used by humans, they tried to forcefully corrupt their wielder into non-humanoid beings with very anti-human personas (think Minotaur’s, Clowns, Dragons, Mutants or Clowns).
Not all Chronicles hate humanity – some are either neutral, entertained by or outright like the humans. The five chronicles used by roleplayers will mostly fit the latter category, but I do have a plan in the works for characters who will use the former types of chronicle.
So, did I mention your chronicle will turn you into a magical girl? Huh. Must have totally slipped my mind. Well, it does that. Basically, your chronicle will transform your character into a “hero of love and X”, with a 30 second transformation sequence and theme fitting powers to match! Magic Wielders are impervious to non-magical weapons, and possess bodies that will always try to “revert” to their base clean and healthy body image template.
Why magical girls, you might ask? Well, these chronicles want to relate to humanity, and who better to shepherd them than the avatar of a perky young adult girl~!
I'm trying to aim for a world where people do live happy lives, and have so much to lose because of that. If an island is destroyed, I want the roleplayer to know that the people who went down actually looked forward to tomorrow – and depended on them to make that happen.
And that, I feel, is true tragedy.
As for the hold up? Yeah. I suck at writing intro's - it's hard for me to order the information I feel the reader needs to know. Then I get a bright idea, begin restructuring a sentence here and adding a sentence there, then one line doesn't make sense... and then they all don't make sense.
Yeah.
Lets call it a work in progress!
EDIT: It doesn't help that I'm constantly getting new ideas for how I want the plot to go. For example, I had an idea that "raids" by demons would occur on the islands for 10 months of every year on the night of the full moon. Or maybe I want to throw in some drama, and make magic toxic to the girls (the price for retaining their humanity is that the magical girls become terminally ill in their early-to-mid 20's).
... Or maybe I want to be especially cruel, and have some magic remove all traces of the magical girl's existence after they die (news articles, memories, etc - all gone). Magical characters and prospective chronicle users would be able to remember them however, turning this into a sort of "test" to find new users.
The question is: how much can I throw in before it just becomes "too much"
