There's always the final solution, Annie!
I'd be interested to know why the bear was there! Most animal's I know of actively avoid unnecessary altercations!
I dunno why the bear was there, it just happened to be there! It was a scary encounter, but I was not as afraid as I thought I'd be. I think I was confident I'd get through, and so it happened. Animals have instinct, so they can sense if you're afraid, so if you're not, they are less likely to be dangerous.

Those are the best lines though.

He turned back to the actual adults in the room.
What age are you considering "adult"? I'm curious because you've got one, maybe two people there that fit the bill - not counting completely normal civilian NPCs - and one of them already said they weren't getting involved.
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

Gareth does come off as a bit of a twit, ignoring Annie like that. I mean, even if he doesn't take her seriously, he could at least shoot her down so she doesn't do anything stupid.

XD this made me chuckle, West's humour fits perfectly. Kinda reminds me of Elizabeth-no, not the BioShock Elizabeth, Elizabeth my Texan friend-who has similar humour and just makes me laugh.
