To be fair, pain is an indication of how far your body is willing to take you. I'm not sure it'd be beneficial to remove it (unless you're deadpool).
You're right, and people who feel less pain die younger, ironically. I always wondered, that if you feel lots of pain, do you become more tolerant of it, do you gradually feel less as your nerves get destroyed, or does everyone have their own limit?

I'd like to see where you pulled that statistic... :P

Well, I mean, if your nerves are destroyed, there's nothing left to send messages to the brain. We can already see that result with third degree burns. But I can't see pain somehow overloading our nerves, causing them to fry and burst. I mean, come on. That's the stuff of cheesy d-class Bollywood films! I think it'd be more likely that your brain would simply stop associating pain as a "bad thing".

Personally, I think everyone has a different threshold for pain. I also believe swearing loudly also increases our tolerance to pain, but that's another topic entirely!

I read on Wikipedia that people who have this condition, of not feeling pain, tend to die younger, as well as not know when they are thirsty, or something like that. So, I'm guessing that, the less pain you feel, the more likely you are to die.

Right, the nerves: destroy your nerves, you can't feel pain. That's interesting to think about for sure. But, I'm just pondering here, but if someone got used to physical suffering, regardless of their natural threshold, it's just peculiar to imagine someone who does not, well, suffer, from suffering. Also, your nervous systems being destroyed from pain, that's badass!

Hm, sometimes, I hold a hot cup of tea, and see how long I can keep my fingertips on the glass, before the heat becomes too much. I noticed I can actually hold it a bit longer as I try, but then, the next time I do it, I have to start all over again.

Anyways, I'm off to bed, thanks for the (rather slow on my part) chat for tonight! Hopefully, the others will be back soon.

I saw a similar news story/video.
One person with this condition, still in his 20s. He had trouble walking because at one point he had hurt his knee or something really really bad. But since he didn't really feel pain, he never knew how bad it was.
I'm not sure just how 'bad' bad was, but we're talking about something along the lines of damaged tendons or muscle or a broken bone. If it had been us, we'd have been on crutches or needed surgery. Him ... it was too late to really do anything about it.

If you guys are looking for something else to stretch your creative juices:

Treasure Trail - Anagrams
Quick find code: 16-17-578-65943631

If you haven't done Treasure Trails in game, there is 1 type of clue that involves anagrams of in game NPCs. (the letters in the clue are scrambled up to give a 'hint' to the NPCs name.)

The devs are looking to add a few new fresh anagram clues.
Details in the thread.

But if you're a little creative (maybe a little more creative than what a few of us already came up with), maybe a chance to have some fun with wording or something.

If you're needing help on where to look for NPC names, you can just go to Runescape Wikia.

I log into runescape to catch up with the story from time to time, but... I'll be honest, I always hated those clues. Give me a puzzle? Sure. Runeknot? Sorted. Ask me to stand upside down in my underwear at the tip of white wolf? Sounds like a party.

In all honesty, you could probably leave the clue unscrambled and the casual player probably still wouldn't know who they were looking for or where to go...

Delta,
Ouch, that sounds brutal. Imagine being forced to walk with a broken leg, without a cast.
Well, I dunno anything about RuneScape in-game, so can't say much there.

Hello, Annie,

West,
I was always bad at solving clues and puzzles. When I was a noob, I'd spend like all day on one quest, and still have no idea what to do.

Anyways, I am afraid to say it, but I think I am out of ideas. I have basically used-up everything I ever could for fantasy and modern ideas, and now that I've put up a complete steampunk-dieselpunk-atompunk RP, well, I have nothing else to create or add. I just don't know what else to work with, or what else to do, or what to create.

Actually, speaking of which, there is one environment I don't think we have an RP about: World War 2. I suppose, to incorporate everything of our usual tastes, we could try to work out something like Wolfenstein or Clive Barker's Jericho. In Return to Castle Wolfenstein, it has fantasy enemies, like undead, and Clive Barker's Jericho has a skinless 'Nazi witch' captain or something like that. A paranormal adventure against Nazi Germany and supernatural evil could be a cool role-play, especially if mixed with themes during the Holocaust.

If anyone's interested, we can discuss it, why not? This is potentially my last idea for a role-play, so if this doesn't work, I just don't know how else to support or create content in this forum. Of course, I would still partake in all role-plays that are active that I'm involved in.

I'd still go for it.

Oh, and Imgur, surprisingly, does have a bit of Clive Barker's Jericho in it! It was rather cool, because it's a pretty lesser-known game. The second image is the Nazi zombie witch I was talking about.

Pretty badass! I'd love to partake in an RP about this kind of stuff. I'm just really into demonic, brutal, crazy, morbid, action adventures.

Anyways, I added several reserve posts for WWW, just in case.
