Sorry about the absence. I just moved to a new apartment. It's not great, but it's a house.

Amusingly, when Cooke refers to the interview at the end of this last post, he could almost be referring to his current conversation! XD

I almost posted a bio for another thread before I moved. I'm glad I didn't. I think one thread will be enough for me for a while.

No worries, you've gotta do what you've gotta do.

I actually thought for a moment that he might be when I first read it.

Oh, Fish, a question I've been meaning to ask for a while. Why did Gareth refer to her as "that hack of a writer"? Has he met her or something before, or does she write stuff he doesn't like, or is it something else? Or are you just typing mean things about my NPCs to spite me?

Well, that was my motivation at first...

In all seriousness though, he's just not a fan of that particular book Cooke is currently asking about. Didn't you say Gareth's father had a run-in with a person from the book? He doesn't really like being reminded of his father's military adventures, even if it was only a brief encounter.

Although yes, originally I just wanted to troll. But I also like having my characters quietly resent other people for no obvious reason.

What Cooke is asking about is more of a news article that she wrote while still working for a newspaper. It was an interview with one of the more infamous "villains" of the time, and also the only one on record for that specific person.

And no, the person that Gareth's father had a run-in with apparently has ties to the Prismatic Storm, the one Cooke is chasing, but they're a different person. I was also gonna have to tell you at some point, but Gareth wouldn't know much about that anyways, since his father always seemed to avoid the topic when someone tried to bring it up.

I...kinda figured that was the initial intent, though.

Not that I mind if he wants to dislike her. Nobody is gonna be tolerated by everyone.

Oh, she's a news writer? I thought she was a novelist or something.

Yeah, I don't see why Gareth would hate some random news writer... unless she's one of those people who can't keep their political opinions out of their work.

She is a novelist. She used to be a journalist, but she never got political. What she did generally tended to focus on heroes and legends, although she wrote a few pieces about technology and its effects as well.

Her books mostly deal with rather fantastical stuff, always using different smaller storylines while alluding to a single, larger one. To date, everything she has written connects in some way, although it's not always clear what way that might be.

Also, there's a little post. Figured I want to give West a chance to do something before anything really happens, and it gives me a chance to try and get more of the endless dialogue out of the way.
