Oh, and Fish (and I guess everyone else too), let me know if you have something specific in mind for people from your character backstories, because I'll be making stuff up for them at some point if you have nothing you'd like me to work with beyond what you've said.

Gareth's mother is dead. He has two sisters, no brothers. As far as extended family goes, I'd say he has an uncle, and multiple a few distant cousins who don't carry the family name. His family may have one or two rivals, I'll leave that up to you, but they are unlikely to be anyone important. Though if you want to say his father pissed people off or had to do something shady to advance through the ranks, I'll leave that for you to decide as well. I'm personally indifferent, since it's not like Gareth adores his father.

And though his father is trying to get him to join the military, he also wouldn't mind if Gareth went a university instead. His father's main issue is the fact that Gareth insists on self-educating himself through random books, which I'm assuming isn't worth a damn if you don't have a formal education.

Also, I'm going to say that the 'various subjects' Gareth is well-read on also include medicine, science, the latest technological development and even military tactics (despite his desire NOT to join the military.) He's not an expert and none of them are his passion, but he's still well-informed.

My head cannon is that Gareth's father is trying to settle his son down with a nice girl, make him form a family and then take responsibility for them (and, thus, find a worthy career to continue the family name).

Isn't that how overbearing families usually work?

Ultimately Gareth's father just wants him to make a name for himself, or at the very least put the family in a better position. That would include marrying someone from a good family and making an heir of his own.

You changed nothing. I see nothing different about what is written there, and none of the advice given seems to have been followed at all.

So no. It's not better.

Right-o, then. It's unlikely I'm going to have time to post anything until at least this friday (I'm working longer work days, but getting friday off because of it) but I'll do what I can to make a brief intro for you guys to work with.

Who the heck is Euron Greyjoy?

An understanding father, I see! That does leave my assumptions in a right pickle though, especially with why Bridgett is on the ship in the first place.

Well, ultimately he would prefer that his son follow his footsteps in the military, so it still works if she's there to persuade him. And if they also plan on matching them together, that's another reason for her to be there. Kill two birds with one stone.

Though I still don't know why Gareth is on the ship.

It's really hot in BC lately, thus our two-hundred wildfires. 2017 is the hottest year so far in human history. Hot weather also saps my energy and creativity, so I understand your stress George.

Anyways, I'm a little nervous about my driving test, hopefully I'll pass. It starts on the 20th. I just need to find my alarm clock.
