Honestly, if Annie is going to play a 14 year old, then she should be prepared to accept all the disadvantages that would entail. There is nothing forcing her to make that decision. And it's not fair to take an inexperienced kid, and put her on the same level as most adults. It's essentially saying:

"Hey, your character worked hard to get where they are. You made your character believable and plausible within the world's constraints."

"Now watch some kid with a disproportionately huge amount of power do everything your character can do, just as effectively if not better. What's more, because she is still growing and is still in training, this implies that she will only continue to become even stronger."

I told her she had to be at least 15 or 16, and she can't go the elite mage/warrior route. She has to pick one to specialize in, and only know the basics of the other, because she wouldn't have had the time or training to become good at both. Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.

OK, I'm definitely going to try and join Echion. I was wondering....would it be possible to have a character who uses craft magic to craft special potions that are applied into their weapon like a poison? Kind of like a temporary enchantment, so for example, a solution that super heats your blade when you swing, giving a burn effect? I would guess this could also include poisons and similar stuff that inflict paralysis, tiredness, etc.

So I just realized I basically just described dust from RWBY, except it's crafted instead of mined

Hey Fish, tell me more about blood magic. Is it taking the mana from other living things to use for your spells, or something else? How would it work?

Basically, when someone is cut or wounded, you can begin drawing magic directly from their bloodstream. You need to be in close proximity to your victim, and then need to focus on their wound, which then allows you to cast a spell that you are already familiar with.

Thing is, it's not as efficient as using your own mana. It can take up to three to four times more if you're using someone else's blood. Also keep in mind that non-mages have smaller pools of mana. You can use the blood of mundane animals as well, but their pools are even smaller than that of the humanoid races. Magical beasts such as dragons, demons, griffins, unicorns, etc. have a ton of magic in their blood though. Also, the mana seeps out of the blood with time, and after a few days it becomes useless.

Mastering Blood Magic is simply about making the most efficient use of an enemy's mana, so that it's actually a viable power source.

You could definitely craft some sort of acid that only burns flesh.

If you want paralysis, I believe I already covered that - you need the venom of an Immobus Spider. Nonlethal and fast-acting.

But feel free to get creative with alchemy. I don't want to assign every ingredient in the world a particular trait. If you want to say a certain ingredient gives a certain ability, just make sure it makes sense or run it by me first. If you want something to make your blade hot you could say you mixed together Phoenix Ash and Dragon Blood into some heated water, for example. There's enough magic in both of those creatures that you would get an effect that emulates magic. However it would be very expensive, so you might instead seek a cheaper alternative like the previously mentioned flesh-burning acid. Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
