So, I have a thread idea. It's not going to be overly lengthy, and might actually be a bit short, but I feel like it will be a nice way to open up the setting. The protagonists will start out as members of the Mercenary Guild, part of a Company consisting of three dozen or so people.

Anyone interested?

Annie, before you ask, half human/half elves are allowed. But you can't be a child. Recruitment age for the Mercenary Guild, as well as most human armies, is 16 (conscription age is 20, but mercenary guild members aren't conscripts, so the point is moot.)

And let's not forget that characters could die during each loop and come back for the next one, at least until the 'canon loop' where the event is solved and everything that happened that day sticks. So the loop would begin early morning or relatively early morning, like some students being in first class of the day, or just waking up at 6:35am, and would end either directly after the traumatic event succeeds or midnight that night.

This actually sounds somewhat like what I want to see!

The qualms I have now are about the setting. I mean, if characters aren't connected in some way, they could go entire arcs without ever having cause to interact.

To be fair, I don't think anyone's going to care about her age, since the girl is essentially a plot armoured living weapon. The issue is in creating a character who is willing and able to exploit her for these merits regardless of her age. :P

I would suggest either a small town or a school. A location where they actually have a chance to see each other on a daily basis. Other than that, they don't have to be directly connected - the other characters will stand out no matter what, because they are going to be the only other people who consistently do something different each day.

Also, could there by any chance be characters who are not part of the loop, but are brought up to speed by the other characters (who they happen to be friends with or otherwise close to), who managed to convince them by predicting things before they happened. I know it's a bit of a cliche, but...

Edit: Maybe they could also be someone who dies during the main event. Then one of the secondary goals becomes saving them. And it gives everyone more incentive, because they also happen to be friends with one of the characters who can remember everything.

Fish, if I do join can my character be 15?

I suppose you could say that she lied about her age and enlisted a year early, if it is such a big deal to you. Fifteen isn't too different from sixteen. But if the Captain found out, he'd throw you out in a heartbeat - hiring child soldiers is the sort of thing that gets mercenary leaders expelled from the Guild, and possibly arrested if it goes public.

I would also like to point out that each one of my roleplays are going to be quite some time apart, which means you may have a fifteen year old in this thread, but in the next thread she's going to be seventeen or eighteen. And again, fifteen and sixteen aren't that different.

Hey, if it gets results, SOMEONE will pay for it. I mean, look at characters like Guren (Full Metal Panic) or Ali al-Saachez (Gundam 00). Both are charismatic and sadistic men who use children as body shields and suicide bombers, mainly because their lives are cheap and the children don't know any better.

For a slightly more "heroic" example, there is the crazy old strategist from Otome Sensou, who forms an army of women, children and elderly by arming them with primitive firearms and pitting them against mounted knights.

That said, stories where this takes place typically have a middle eastern theme - and have the technology to allow a physically weaker opponent defeat a stronger one.
