As an update, I am about halfway done in my temporary job for shutdown (for a plywood plant/mill). I was a bit surprised by how easy the job is, I literally do nothing for up to ten hours (so far, I just do spark watch, as IDL only does spark watch and safety watch, nothing else). However, standing around does have its pains, as my feet are hurting after three days of long-hour night shifts.

Since I work from 6:30 PM to 5:00 AM, I just work, go home, sleep, get up, and then have just enough time to eat, go outside for an hour, then have about one hour of free time before I must get ready for work. So, I don't have any time for anything else, but since this forum is rather inactive, nothing's being missed, so that's good.

Indeed, and I feel guilty for having such an easy job. On Monday, I waited literally for five hours before I got something to do, and the shift last night I had to wait four hours before starting something. So, basically, so far I was paid two days of work for half a day of work each, though no-one seemed to care, and even made fun of it anyways. From what I heard, the contractors don't really know what they're doing. Oh well, what can I do? I'm just one of the lowest-ranking workers, I can only do my job as best I can.

Yes, I also eagerly awaited the return of everyone. I was thinking that, if all interest has been lost to current threads, we have no choice but to create a new one and start over. I was thinking of a cyberpunk role-play, but based on several different franchises, as that way, it'd be much easier to work with, requiring less reading.

My new idea is squad-based, of which users play as a student with a power, allowing things like manipulation of gravity, electricity, and magnetism (seeing as the human brain produces electricity anyways, it is a hypothetical possibility). The user role-plays as a student who trains in a military academy, to become an elite agent with a superpower, who is sent on missions. The idea would have missions that user plays through together with tasks and objectives, ranging from infiltration, anti-terrorism, explorations into Area 51, sneaking on-board Air Force One to save the president, going to the bottom of the ocean to uncover ancient secrets, going into space/Mars/the moon, and stuff like that: a constantly shifting, changing role-play to keep users on their toes.

The franchises merged with the idea would be:
Fallout
Mass Effect
Metal Gear Solid
Star Wars
Star Trek
Perfect Dark
Turok
...and anything else that fits a cyberpunk theme

This way, users can jump into the role-play way easier; if they don't want to role-play the default student, they can be something else.

Interesting, but would our characters be limited to using fundamental forces - or would we be using fundamental principles to explain more complex abilities (like fireballs or heightened reflexes or time manipulation).

West, about powers
It depends. The default power would be when neurons in the nervous system produce electricity, then an electromagnetic field, and so creating gravitation (especially effective at attracting magnetic metallic objects), and so able to hurl people, things and stuff around with potentially great force, or to produce a barrier to slow down or redirect projectiles.

Anything else, well, it would either be supernatural or based on another hypothesis (such as neurons producing a chemical reaction creating combustion or something else).

Fireballs seem to be a rather ineffective power, as throwing a brief mass of flame at someone would burn them, especially if they are not wearing anything significant, but it would not do much else.

Heightened senses could be a power, or simply a form of mental ascendancy. The role-play is meant to include types of warfare and classes of that style of warfare per user, so I may be able to squeeze that into, say, Psychological Warfare.

Manipulating the flower of time is a more complicated idea, and may make things too complex to work with. Nevertheless, there can be moments when it does occur, but I think it should be limited.

The role-play is still an idea in progress, but I have some awesome pictures from Imgur mixing franchises! The only problem is that a Mod may lock the thread, due to copyright, but I may be able to induce an excuse, such as "all franchises are alternative versions of themselves in this role-play" or something.

Suffice to say, so far, I have got enough pictures to mix up: Fallout, Mass Effect, Star Wars, ALIENS vs. PREDATOR, a tiny bit of Crysis, some of Warhammer, and will be working into Mech Warrior/Mech Assault, as the role-play is planned to have episodes of which users control a mech, tank, or some armored vehicle or jet or whatever.

My job is almost done; I think tomorrow is the last day, but it may continue onto Monday.
