Oh, the Nameless King is Gwyn's firstborn? I'd never expect that. But ya, the boss fight was rather pointless, you just waltz in, he flies by, and attacks you with his cockatrice. It was a tough battle though, it took me three days to kill him. I am a terrible player, but given enough time and effort, I will eventually succeed. Also, just one more week to The Ringed City DLC! There better be Sir Alonne and the Pursuer from Dark Souls 2 there.

As Inferi just said, Nameless King wasn't that bad, it does lack story (maybe?) but at least it's there. I will admit I don't know much lore or story, most of Dark Souls either feels nonsensical or lacking most of the time, it kinda feels like a fantasy adventure game with philosophical dialogue. I still think Dark Souls would be way cooler with dismemberment, beheadings, pushing (physically with your body), tackling, disarming, NPCs having mini-routes they walk, and way more NPCs fighting other NPCs.

The lore of Dark Souls is mostly hidden in item descriptions. A YouTuber named VaatiVidya has done a decent job of piecing them together and coming up with his own theories. I'd recommend watching him, if you're interested in the lore. You could also look up PlagueOfGripe's video - Dark Souls: In Summary. Basically summarizes all the backstory of the first game, and is much shorter than sifting through the dozens of Vaati videos.

Gwyn's firstborn used to be a huge mystery in Dark Souls 1. Only a rare few items referenced him. A lot of people thought it was Solaire (they were wrong.) Turns out the real firstborn decided to ally himself with the dragons, because reasons, and was erased from history because of it. He also trained Ornstein, who apparently survived Dark Souls 1 somehow and went on to seek him out. You find his armor near where you fought the King, which means he either died, or retired from being a knight.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.

We'll figure something out for Gideon if you choose a non-magical route for him.

NotFishing,
Yes, I also recall ten Blood Tribals, maybe there are another ten that appeared?

Yes, I recall bits of info the item descriptions, I read everything I can find.
*looks up vaatividya*
*notices that like all his videos are twenty minutes long*
*exits*
Speaking of “vidya”, this is Sanskrit for “weapon” I think; the phrase “shastar vidya” means “science of weapons” and references to a system of martial arts used in India. Anyways, I may look those titles up, sort of.

Peculiar, I find it cool this firstborn trained Ornstein. I recall finding Ornstein's armour in the dragon place, yes, since it's on a corpse, I'm guessing he died. Too bad Ornstein wasn't a cockatrice-slayer. Since it's mentioned Smough was the last knight standing, Ornstein must have survived/escaped the attack on Anor Londo, or left before it happened. I found it odd that Anor Londo seems to have shrunk since Dark Souls 1, or maybe everyone else grew bigger?

Yay, Inferi joined TFL!
