Speaking of powers, I may change Gary's. I hope that's okay, since he hasn't actually used it yet.
Okay, so instead of nature...
He can turn into a swarm of rats.
At the early stages of his ability, he takes control of one lead rat. The other rats follow him and he can issue minor telepathic commands, like "attack this" or "run away." Should he, the lead rat, be killed, his spirit is transferred over to another summoned rat, which becomes the new lead rat. The only way to kill him in this stage is to kill every single summoned rat.
When he turns back into his human form, he does so from whatever rat he is currently controlling, and all the other rats vanish. If any of the rats were killed or destroyed, his human form is unharmed. However, the destroyed rats will be missing from his swarm should he transform immediately afterwards.
As his ability progresses, he can turn into larger swarms, give more complicated commands, swap between rats at will, directly control or see through the eyes of several rats at a time, make the rats' teeth able to chew through things faster, make their bite venomous, etc.
I'm totally not drawing inspiration from the Devouring Swarm or Possession powers from Dishonored.
Of course, there are plenty of differences to make this unique.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
