I wanna see a thread set in the 1920s. Maybe even a powers thread (once the few that are up have worn down). Perhaps I'll think more about it and make it myself when I'm on fewer threads.

There's an RP idea I had with a Great Depression setting. The world's nations are ruled by brutal despotic regimes, and everyone is stealing, trading illegally or killing just to get by. There are various mafia involved, secret polices either independent or in league with the despots, gangs, etc. I haven't yet decided on the kind of magic or creatures to use, but I'm planning to put in various firearms including the magnum revolver. Prepare for hell on RuneScape in Naval Cataclysm!

Come to think about it - Azi, are you content with Annie and Dirk's exploits? Or is it mediocre/boring to you? Maybe you just want us to post more frequently?

I take criticism well. Honest.

I don't think either of those suggestions are quite what I'm looking for...

I envision more of a sandbox-y thread, just oozing with the decadence of the 20s. Throwing magic into the mix would produce more fun, as everyone deals with disguising their magic amidst the parties and new, revolutionary ideas. Both of those threads seem to focus on different aspects than what I had in mind (not to mention, neither officially takes place in the 20s). :P

Edit: I'm off to bed now, though. Perhaps I'll look more into making a thread of my own in that setting later, but for now I've got enough on my plate. Good night, at any rate.

I've been considering a similar setting - only, instead of the great depression, it would be a post-apocalyptic utopia filled with kill-droids and traps. Due to the scarcity of working power or experience, survivors would rely on dangerous handmade conventional weaponry and gang rule.

Think Fallout, only the city's are still mostly in working order - with autonomous machines maintaining and patrolling the streets for dozens of years. Oh, and they're all set to kill mode. Have fun with that.

Characters would likely be low ranking members of a post-war society (deadbeats and criminals) who would be exiled into this city of tomorrow, with necessities supplied from the outside to anyone who can extract valuable technology, research or resources from the city.

That said, this thread idea is on hold because I don't think it would generate much interest at present - and because I want to release my Runescape thread first.

I was thinking about avoiding heavy usage of Runescape lore; people around these parts are sensitive about their creative rights. But writing runescape related stories isn't a bad idea to get people into the mood, it's been years since some of these bums have had membership. As I'm sure you'll agree, lore has been retconned thrice over since then.

Yes, I am OK with Dirk's and Annie's interaction forming into a criminal syndicate theme. I never planned it but it works. Agents involved in bringing entire nations to war, as well as a superweapon, is pretty cool. I am just waiting for Venom and Wasted to get involved, as Chasers is ready to RP in the Battle of Dunkirk! Having four users involved in one battle would be really cool.

... Your writing style is really good. :)

A good threadmaster, in my opinion, can balance out the suspense with the action. Like, when I tried my hand at running a thread a few years ago, I piled on so much stuff about the story so early on that there wasn't room for character development. Good TMs give that space, but also keep the thread on track story-wise. This is where I address you keeping so much information: withholding some is good, withholding as much as you did meant we weren't sure the limits of our knowledge of powers and such. It was confusing, if I'm remembering correctly.

It was the cafeteria, yeah.

Isn't short hair fantastic?!

*hasn't seriously roleplayed in over a year; tries to reread old threads, posts to rediscover old writing style*

Okay. Better start on that post! *smiles weakly*

It's so weird how I can feel the wind again. And the first shower was magical.

Actually, let's call it to a vote.

I think there should be the slight loyalty aspect, but also an ability of the leaders to temporarily reduce individual subordinates' power. This keeps the "in it for life" aspect, but also allows for some sort of punishment system. However, I think you've already got this figured out, so...
