I did attempt a Sandbox thread before making As Demons Weeping but it was not successful, but did get a few posts. This was why I formed ADW with a sense of direction, and it was immediately way more successful despite being criticized for just that by a user who was interested in the thread but chose not to partake in it. As I said several times, users are always allowed to inquire, suggest, or criticize anything I do. At least in my opinion, for a first-time RPer and thread owner, I'm not doing bad despite a few really big mistakes on my part, but I learned.

Nah, I think you're doing more than fine, Azi. I think it helps that you were already a skilled writer beforehand- it's not an incredible leap from one ship to the other. And As Demon's Weeping seems incredibly popular, so you should give yourself props where it's due.

To be honest, what turned me away from As Demons Weeping was the fact that it just felt so restrictive.

At first I didn't mind the fact that you had the plot planned out in advance - some sense of direction is needed. But almost every single post you made ended with "Your post must ultimately result in this precise action." It really killed a lot of my motivation to participate, since it didn't feel like I had control over my own character - it just felt like I was writing the story for you.

^This is actually my largest complaint about it as well. It isn't awful, but I don't love the fact that everything seems fully planned out in advance, which makes me feel as though there's no encouragement to think for ourselves. Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.
