I wish I still had his debut thread intro saved. He was attacked whilst taking a shower, used the towel around his junk as a weapon, gave the dirty towel to a yielded goblin and dubbed him Loincloth, and together the two fought their way through hordes of goblins, though sadly Loincloth did not make it.
Wait a minute, that is the actual Thorek!? I thought it was his son or something. I guess I didn't read it very closely.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
No, that is indeed General Thorek II, son of Urist Goblinsbane, veteran of the War for Dilendain and hero of a hundred songs. It's been years since I've used him, so maybe I'm not playing him quite as accurately, which is why you could have missed it. In TFQ he did a deal with one of the Dread Lord's servants, to die so that Etheldredda could be revived, (though like most devil's deals, it came with a twist- Etheldredda's face remains horrifically mutilated. If not for the magical nature of this revival, she would have died from opened, festering wounds by now.)
However, like the hand-waving, "this will never cause a thousand problems further down the line," thinking guy I am, I had the timeline be reset at the end of TFQ, so that Thorek never died. Without the Dread Lord quest, he decided to go into retirement, and has spent a happy year or so travelling around the countryside, going from one foreign land to another, for the sake of sight-seeing instead of bloodlust.
Nah, what I said was that I wasn't sure of the extent of the Thorek family, so I wasn't positive whether it was actually the one used as a character or someone else related to him. I also wasn't in TFQ when he was still alive, so there's that too.
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.
Also, today's highlight from TFQ, courtesy of fan-favourite Er Ril:
Original message details are unavailable.
Hel'Grim Ironsides stood tall, booted feet firmly planted, glaring about him as the battle raged on all sides!
Suddenly, the lines before him burst asunder as one of the huge, bellowing Rhinoceros came crashing through, foam bursting from its mouth, small eyes shot with bloodlust!
The Goblins manning the Ballista atop its back cackled and chattered in glee and panic as they clung desperately onto the maddened beast!
But The Ex Blood Bowl Legend stood his ground as the beast charged, twisting hid body back then flinging it back round at the last moment Hel'Grim 'Spine Rippa' Ironsides put all his weight behind the punch!
It connected hard with the side of the beasts head, denting the Blitzers spiked gauntlet with a resounding CLANG!!!
The Rhinoceros great, horned head snapped back under the force of the blow as its legs buckled, the massive beasts momentum carried it on for a half dozen paces, before in collapsed with an earth shaking CRASH in a great, ungainly tangle of limbs, splintering Ballista and shrieking Goblins!
Well, I best go searching through my records for the mountain-range I drew up for Thorek's Big Adventure.
I think my TFQ summary will need its own summary, because what I'm doing currently is pretty much a summation of everything that happened, rather than a summary of the main events, which is what I imagine is more needed. A summary that gets rid of all of the characters that disappeared spontaneously or died or are otherwise irrelevant.
