I feel like it'd be cliché to have us all live on the same corridor or whatever, yet at the same time it seems the easiest way to justify my character interacting with yours, seeing as they're in separate branches of magic.
When life gives you lemons, you either make lemonade or go thirsty.
To be honest, I go to a small university and still rarely see students of the same major - not that my major has a large student base to begin with, but whatever - but see mostly ones of the larger "colleges" in the common areas or in my general classes. Can't imagine what it's like at a large school like UoW is supposed to be. ._.

Having gone to a University that is approximately the same size, I can say with a fair degree of certainty that you probably won't see specific people unless you're in the same class or you go looking for them. Hell, when I wasn't in the same classes as my friends, I very rarely came into contact with them.
Done in by the dubious doings of destiny.

If you honestly believe you can take over the world, you are too insane to do so.
Having a death ray or two wouldn't hurt your chances, surely!
Your enemies will adopt that technology for themselves. And even if you do win, the fact that you use death rays to maintain order will only make you look oppressive and people will rise up against you. Plus, this is an entire world we are talking about - can you honestly build and maintain enough death rays to deploy across the globe? What about the cultures who would rather die than submit?
Every Empire is destined to fall.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.
