It's folklore. Unless I'm very much mistaken, copyright morals don't apply to these sorts of stories - it's there to be retold and built upon. This means you aren't stealing ideas, but rather, acknowledging and honouring their existence.

But that's just perspective, I guess. O_o

I suppose the main problem, at least for me, is that I hate being similar to other people in character stuff. I think part of the gun aspect was born from that, and now that there's someone else with one (in a world where they aren't really common, especially good ones like what I'd need) it feels wrong to me. West,
Considering the many different continents, there are many different languages, but cambions can understand any language as demons can at least slightly read minds. Those who know magic or holy forces can also read minds just enough to understand spoken words of any language. They can even communicate with animals to some extent as well. Or so that's what I had in mind, and I should probably put it in somewhere.

Smok makes a good point about this, too, but as West mentions, chances are cambions would not be able to learn a clerical language, seeing as they are persecuted by most religious persons of the Gothic Kigndom and the Hole See.

A longgun is basically an elongated musket, which you may find sutiable, Inferni. For example, your character could have an attached telescope or wear some sort of super monoscope on one's face.

I love it when Annie randomly pops in and says “Let's rp!”

But ya, there's folklore, mythology and legendary features, so there's no trouble with anything, so long as the real-life equivalents are not given a modern term or is done vaguely. You know, dem F Mods, they ruin everything.

Wait, someone has a rifle? I know someone has a pistol... O_o

*quickly goes back to check the thread*

I just don't see why a sniper rifle has to be particularly high-spec in a literary world where improbable aiming skills and superhuman abilities can exist (though I can understand the need to be different, now that everyone seems to be a snarky sniper :O ).

EDIT: Actually, while we're all here, how shady is Glenn - and, more importantly, how many people has he upset? I was thinking my character could start out on a contract to terminate Glenn... then, for whatever reason, doesn't.

Not that she wouldn't kick his ass. :P

I just can't wait until we're all ticking off the Arch Demons by shooting them in the face from a football field away.

But there's always room in the gun-using assassin club! Our characters would have so much to bond over! We could be besties! :D

And what 'n', Inferi? I don't see no 'n'. -Shifty Eyes-

Like I said, the majority of a block here is myself. The character idea is essentially a highly-skilled shadow user that is a professional assassin, and who is an expert at killing people while being nowhere near them. As in, far enough away that the gunshot is barely even heard. Apart from the fact that a suppressor of any kind is extremely improbably in this universe, the range of weapons is cut drastically, meaning the means of attack is a lot more limited.

If you're wondering why I'm not using the shadow abilities to make them a "jump in, stab, jump out" person, there's personality reasons for that. That's actually why they'd be killing from so far away, too.

As for why it has to be high-spec...I want it to be. No reasonable explanation available.

Oh ******, Glenn is an assassin? Damn, I guess I really only skimmed everything...

Well, I put my short story about him on the thread, so there's that. He's probably angered quite a few people, considering he's an assassin-for-hire. He's not very shady however, consider he does things like shooting a man in the face whilst drinking in a local tavern.

And I did it again Inferi, twice in one night! Woop woop!

And Glenn is a Hashashim, which Azi mentioned as being a 'fanatical assassin of the Golden Continent', if I'm quoting correctly.
