Back in the day, Sir Ducan would vex me with Skullvulture/Raptor comparisons.
The comparison is fair, but unintentional. I quit playing Runescape around 2008, so The Raptor is a character I've never encountered, apart from in that advert Jagex made. Skullvulture's name comes from the fact a user by the name of Skullvulture posted on these forums once, creating a thread where he used google translate to try to talk to people. I read everything in a dramatic voice and it amused me: "I am Skullvulture! I use the google translate!" etc.
So Skullvulture the character speaks very little of the common tongue, and has dedicated his entire life to the hunting of beasts. In the thread he was originally created for, also named Skullvulture for creativity is not my strong suit, (see the ogre names,) magic had died out from the world long ago and the final magical creatures were also dying out. The last dragon had been slain three decades back, there were only three elves left, and Skullvulture was responsible for ending the last werewolf tribe.
To use a Tolkien analogy, Skullvulture was made for The Silmarillion, but was born in Lord of the Rings. He was a great fighter, but born in a time when all of the great fights had already been fought. There was nothing that could truly test him, which is why he wears bulky armour, wields his sword in his off-hand, and has bells attached to his helm so he can't sneak up on anyone. He wanted a real challenge but never managed to find one.
