I swear, I'd hate to be the guy who has to count all the coppers to make a gold. But is copper really so common that it might be worth 1000x less than gold?

Okay, I guess I should have been more descriptive. The coins are not all the same size.
A gold coin is slightly smaller than a human palm. A copper is about the size of an ordinary penny. Also, gold in this world is even rarer than it is in ours.
Beneath the gold, the Bitter Steel.

All the same, I'm interested. I hear a lot about antique coinage, and it's almost expected that one knows how many bronze there is to a silver and silver to a gold.
EDIT: Do these coins come in denominations, or do we have to lug big bags of copper everywhere?
