Why Soahc chose Arran in particular, and after so long, is rightfully up for speculation. Maybe Brodus should ask him?

...

...

...I actually never even considered that. Why didn't I think of that? He is literally a (somewhat unreliable) primary source!

It's a shame Soahc is so 'lol randum xD' that people don't consider him a wealth of information. He is literally the son of Tyrrus, (allegedly,) and therefore knows more about gods than anyone else arguably, (allegedly,) and was a god on Engelain and a god banished from **gelain, and is the only god to return to return to Engelain, and has seen thousands of years go by.

Perhaps Soahc can help Brodus find his faith?

Also many of Soahc's followers don't even seem to care about information. A lot of his followers just want to watch the world burn, so they obviously don't care about all the effort that went into making and preserving it. Then there are those who are probably too intimidated to outright ask the man.

Fun fact: Brodus used to be a devout, highly zealous worshiper of Tyrrus.

That is a fun fact. I'm sure Soahc would find it hilarious. They could rigorously debate theology. Brodus could become a scholar of Soahc's teachings and in the end become the new Grand Priest of Soahc for the Unified Church.

Of course, that depends on if Brodus is interested in joining a newly formed, highly incompetent religious organisation.

He would be unable to restrain himself from murdering the other priests and their entire congregation.

But yeah, I do have one hell of a character arc planned for Brodus.

I wonder what Soahc going to about Annie because she is a demigod

Well, feel free to join the discussion. But they have a lot more in common than demi-godhood: Annie's godhood originally came from Soahc. They are practically siblings!

That is a thing worth wondering about! For centuries, Soahc has been the only demigod to freely roam *ngelain, so there's the potential that he might take Annie's ascension quite personally.

It's like a cute little family! Grandpa Soahc, daddy Arran, kid Annie. Annie sat on Soahc's lap whilst he reads her a story book. It could make a new sitcom!

Also, to harken back to an earlier point you made that I don't think I addressed in full: Arran's selection of Annie to become his Avatar does have more to it than the fact that she literally freed the slaves in Mesia, (hence her moniker of The Abolisher, and her God-given mission to free the enslaved everywhere.) In fact, the hag coven that they're meant to be heading to, (should the Azul situation be resolved,) is known to keep slave labour, so she's on the right tracks!

That's probably true. It's sad that Arran didn't even contact Annie to teach her how to be a demigod because she is alone learning how to be one. -Dances-

Why stop there? Great Grandfather Tyrrus and Great Great Grandfather Janus. Or Great Grandfather Janus and Great Great Grandfather Tyrrus.

...does it really matter who came first, actually?

Edit: Actually, wait a minute, if Tyrrus came first, then what would his relation be to Janus? He has to be the Great Grandfather, because he was the father of Soahc. Would that make Janus a Great Uncle, because he would technically be Soahc's brother?

Oh god this is making my head hurt...

Nooooo.... my "Arran is evil!" theory is steadily crumbling!

Either that, or I have to sacrifice my "Soahc is actually responsible for all three plotlines!" theory.

Or maybe I could keep both and conclude that Soahc and Arran are no longer talking due to a bad break-up, and are both working on their own independent, equally sinister agendas.

It is a shame, but the gods work in mysterious ways!

And Annie did have Abraxus to help her, Arran's High Priest, but Soahc took him away. Maybe he wanted to stop Annie's learning?

A very angry chicken and egg want to talk with you.

It's more of a spiritual argument. Is it Tyrrus, as the forefather of man and founder of justice, who appointed Janus to the Halls of Time and banished Soahc, before willingly taking his own leave of absence as he believed Engelain was ready to progress on its own merit? Or it is Janus, and Tyrrus who is the most-worshipped and most-beloved of the gods is simply a pawn, completely powerless to stop Janus and forced to bow down to the whims of another?

I suppose it doesn't matter much to the thread at large, but it's a hotly debated topic within the world itself. Some are of the belief that the Church of Engelain put Janus on top simply to annoy the Tyrannian Church.

Well they could be working together, that there is more to Annie's choosing than meets the eye should be evidence in your theory's favour, really.

And yes, Soahc and Arran are *** lovers.
