“We do have good reason for the attack on the Phoenix and Black Arm gangs though,” added Sir Amik Varze. “Both gangs are attempting to spread their operations. It will not be long before both gangs have establishments in Falador, and that will not be tolerated! Sir Amik Varze yelled, slamming his fist on the table. “We also are sending some of our men over there due to what has been discovered at the Digsite,” added Sir Amik Varze.
“Yes, I almost forgot to mention it,” replied Lorad. “There have been some recent discoveries over at the Digsite. Some ancient artifacts have been found, such as jewelry and pottery. We are sending over a security detail to help make sure that artifacts arrive safely to Falador, so we can study them.”
“So gang members and pottery is more important then keeping the world safe from the Black Knights?” Roven asked.
“You better watch your mouth,” Lorad replied with a very serious tone. "All of you in here will be leaving for Varrok within the next few weeks. You are all just the higher ranking White Knights on the trip. We will also be accompanied by many others who did not get called on to come to this meeting, as well as many of our squires. You are all now dismissed, except I want Kargill to stay.” As the White Knights rose to leave, worry and fear began to race through Kargill’s mind. He could not help but fear that he had seen him with the Zamarokians. Murder was a very serious crime in Falador, no matter who the victim was.

“What is it Commander Lorad?” Kargill asked as the last White Knight shuffled out the door.
“I just wanted to apologize for having to put you back into the field so soon after acquiring such a serious injury,” Lorad replied. A huge relief was lifted of off Kargill’s shoulders as the commander said this.
“If I may ask, why am I going over to Varrok?”
“I desperately need a mage of your caliber over there. While interrogating Garth we were able to determine that the mage who had enchanted his dagger is in Varrok, and we assume the mage to be a part of the Underground.”
“You want me to be that one to capture the mage?"
"I have no other choice. I can not put one of our warriors against a magic user of this power. Griff volunteered for the job, but I do not even like the idea of putting a ranger against that powerful of a mage.”
“Do we have any information on this magic user?” Kargill asked. “It would be helpful to know what kind of mage he or she is.”
“We have no information at this time, but I can assure you we will look into it. You are now dismissed."

Roven, Griff, and several of the other White Knights were waiting outside the castle when Kargill returned.
“How much trouble are you in?” Griff asked with a smirk.
“I’m not in any trouble. Lorad just apologized for putting me into the field with my injuries,” Kargill replied.
“Well I, Kane, and a few other White Knights are going to head over the bar, do you want to come?”
“But it is barely past eight in the morning,” Kargill objected.
“Never to early for an eye-opener,” replied Griff. *What about you Roven? Are you going to come?”
“Whatever. I'm in."
“I will catch you guys later,” Kargill said as he headed towards his house, which was conveniently located a few blocks from the White Knight’s Castle. He lived in a small four room house made of oak. It was kind of rundown and in need of some small repairs, but it was his home and it served its purpose. As he arrived at his bachelor pad he threw his ahrim’s robes to the ground and flopped faced down on his bed. Kargill was beginning to have another flash back.

Chapter 10: A Dark Childhood
Death, it was all around Kargill. He was but a young boy of six, running through his Elvin village. All around him men and women were being slaughtered by the hands of humans and elves in dark red robes. They came on horseback, and were destroying everything in their path. The young Kargill ran with tears streaming down his face trying to find his parents. Blood and dead bodies were everywhere, filling the streets and covering the houses. Smoke filled his nostrils and the scent of the dead bodies disgusted and repulsed him. He was running, running but not knowing where to go. He screamed out for his parents, but no one was there to answer.
The young Kargill turned the corner now to find an elf in dark red robes right in front of his face. Kargill turned to flee but the elf grabbed him by the shoulder and threw him to the ground. The elf walked over the petrified body of Kargill, his sword in hand.
“Bye kid,” the elf in dark red robes said with a smirk. He lifted up his sword to slay Kargill as an older elf burst through a nearby house and charged at the enemy elf. The older elf lifted up his battleaxe and took the head of the Zamarokian. He turned to face the shivering Kargill as a man on horseback shot an arrow into the elf’s chest.

The older elf raised his battleaxe and charged at the man on horseback only to receive two more arrows in his chest. He dropped his battleaxe and collapsed to the ground. Kargill was alone and defenseless as the man began to notch another arrow. The man smiled and fired at the six year old Kargill.
“Shield!” Another elf screamed. The arrow stopped inches from his face and turned to splinters. Kargill turned to see a very old elf in white robes holding a staff. The Zamarokian notched another arrow and shot at the old elf. Once again the arrow stopped inches from the old elf’s face and shattered. He lowered his staff and fired an immense sphere of light blue magical energy at the man. The sphere collided with the man, completely vaporizing his upper body and leaving nothing but a waist and legs on horseback.
The old elf grabbed Kargill’s hand and began leading him through the destroyed village. Two Zamarokians on horseback drew their swords and began to charge at the fleeing old elf and Kargill. The old elf raised his staff in the air and two bolts of lighting came from the heavens and struck down the two men.
Meanwhile up on a hill Iban, the son of Zamarok, stood and watched the carnage unfurl upon the elvin village.
“Call the troops to rendezvous point. Ride through the town and kill all of those who remain. Men, women, and children, I want everyone in this town dead!” Iban shouted to his generals. Iban would teach these Armadyl following elves a lesson.

The old elf continued to pull Kargill along the blood filled streets until he reached a house carved into a giant elvin tree. Kargill was led into a room at the back of a house. The room was surrounded on all four sides by the trees thick wooden wall, with a small archway carved into the front wall. The old elf placed his hand upon the wall and began muttering a spell. Wood started to slowly grow and wrap around the small archway. Kargill and the old elf were now standing in a room carved into the tree with no entrance or exit.
Outside Kargill could he troops passing by on horseback and the crashing of furniture as the Zamarokians searched the house. The old elf has his hand over Kargill’s mouth, making sure he did*’t make any noise. After several minutes the troops were satisfied there was no one at the house and left. The teary eyed Kagrill stood there looking up at the old elf.
“How did you do that?” Kargill managed to say.
"It is magic,” the old elf replied. “My name is Gavin,” he said warmly. “If we get out of this I can teach you to cast magic if you like.”

Kargill awoke to someone knocking on his door. He would have to do something about these flashbacks before they drove him insane. Kargill grabbed his ahrim’s robes and walked over to the door

Chapter 11: New Faces
Kargill opened the door to his home with caution. He had his hand on the hilt of his crystal sword, ready to draw. As he opened his door he was surprised to see two White Knights. One of them was wearing blue wizard robes while the other was wearing the same robes but in black. Kargill had seen the two of them around the castle, but he did not know them personally.
“Can I help you?” Kargill asked.
“I am Corporal Dart reporting for duty!” The man in blue robes replied with a salute. He looked very young, and Kargill could not believe that he was even eighteen.
“I am Sergeant Teran. We are both mages in training, and have been sent by Commander Lorad to assist you in any way possible," the man in black robes said.
"Commander Lorad sent you? Did he tell you about the mage that is working for the Underground?"
"Yes he did," replied Dart. "He thought you would need help with finding information about the mage and with your training."
"Interesting," replied Kargill. "So they sent me training partners. Why do they call you Dart anyway?"
Dart opened his hand and four darts seemed to appear out of nowhere. He held the point of the darts in-between each of his fingers, and then threw them at a sign post. The four darts hit in the center of the sign, forming a small square. Dart then began to mutter a spell, and all four darts exploded into flames.

After some walking, Kargill was near the exit of Falador with his two ‘apprentices’, Teran and Dart, following close behind.
“Where are you taking us, sir?" Teran asked.
“We are heading to the Wizards' Tower. That is where we shall begin our training,” Kargill replied.
“When we said that Commander Lorad sent us to you for training, we did not mean we needed to start right now. I can understand if you would need more time to heal and recuperate first,” replied Dart.
“Don’t worry about me. Elves heal much faster than humans." Kargill opened up his robes to reveal his bare chest. He did not even have a scar or any indication that he had been previously injured.
"I am fatigued, but I am well enough to train. Tell me, what do you two think we are going to do for training?” Kargill asked.
“I would imagine we would meditate and practicing our control over the different elements,” Teran replied.
“No, meditation and practicing control over the elements is light work. We are going to train our magic the only true way, through swift, hardcore combat.”

Chapter 12: I Walk Alone
Arkeon rushed through the busy streets of Burthrope. The bottom of his boots were covered in a layer of metal and made a clunking sound against the ground. He held out his cane in front of him, feeling and hearing his way through the streets. Arkeon was blind, but he could hear like most people could see.
Arkeon was dressed in simple black robes with a black cavalier on top of his head. He walked across half of Burthrope in a hurried fashion, not caring if he brought attention to himself.
He was worried. It had been almost a month since Garth had mysteriously disappeared after he showed up for his poison. Even if Garth did have a run in with the Burthropian Guard he should not have been gone this long. Had Garth betrayed him? It was a definate possibility.
As much as he hated to do so Arkeon knew he had to report this to the Kinpin. A shiver went down his spine just thinking of the man.
After going through a labyrinth of streets and back alleys Arkeon was finally outside the entrance to the Underground’s headquarters. Arkeon had no idea what the place looked like, but he had the trip memorized by heart.
