"Hey! Stop right there!" the guard with the crossbow yelled. Garth did not stop running. If he did he would be cut down by the archers’ volley of arrows. He would just have to take his chances with the one guard.
As Garth got closer the guard fired his crossbow. Garth tried to dodge the metal bolt, but he was too slow. He felt pain shoot all throughout his ribs, but he did not stop running. Garth lowered his stance and rammed his shoulder right into the guard’s stomach. There was a satisfying crunch as Garth tackled the guard into a wall. He quickly prepared his dagger and stabbed the dazed guard in his temple.
“That is five,” Garth said as the dead guard fell to the ground. Garth looked down to see where the bolt had hit him. The bolt had not been able to pierce his thick dragon hide armor, but the impact of the blow had at least bruised one or two of his ribs. Garth rounded another corner and began sprinted down the alley that he had taken before. He soon found himself at the abandoned church. As quietly as he could, Garth climbed up the drain pipe. The same four guards were still there.
Garth silently removed the longbow from his back and notched an arrow arrow with a broad tip. The church was taller than the wall and Garth was in an excellent sniping position. He took aim and fired at the only alert guard. The arrow pierced the side of the man’s head and went through his skull, deep into his brain. Before the other guards had any idea about what happened, he notched another arrow and shot another one right in the forehead.
The guard that had been drinking stood up and was now trying to see where the attacker was. Garth quickly shot the man twice in the chest. The drunken guard began to stagger around, and he fell off the wall.
After hearing the noise of the drunken guard falling off the wall, the guard that had been napping was now starting to wake up. Garth waited until the man raised his head, and then shot him in the windpipe.
