"Oh my God, you're right." he laughed, he hadn't had a chance to do anything like this in what felt like years, his store was opened seven days a week, even if he did close early on Ivanday. As the two soaked, they both were becoming slightly bored. "So Forrest man, got a thing for that broad we saw back in Rellekka?" Lowe asked slyly, with a smirk.
"Well yeah, had a thing for her past few years really." Forrest replied, he seemed upset slightly.
"I didn't mean to, offend or anything..." Lowe said, he suddenly felt guilty.
"Nah, just some mistakes I made, not yer fault." he replied. "See, you might not know it, but go back a few years, and I was mean as any old demon, and I knew it. When I wasn't workin', I was drinkin', when I wasn't drinkin', good chance I was walking away from a battered unconscious fella at a pub. Was down near Rellekka, heard they had some exotic timber to be felled, made myself a killing on the profit, and met the love of my life."
"We hit if off, like a spark to dry straw. She mellowed me out over the years we were together, I found myself fighting less and less, and I was happier without realizing it. Then she started talking about kids, buying a house together, weddings..." Lowe listened quietly, even though he knew where things were going. "I told her some stuff, excuses to delay everything, but friction was gettin' rough between us, arguments were starting to happen daily... I eventually told her truthfully I was too young to start a family and settle down, I was only twenty five at the time..."
"Only twenty five?" Lowe thought to himself, but men so physically fit as Forrest would probably live to be one hundred and fifty, anyway. "That's pretty bad, you work things out back there?" he asked, genuinely hoping he had somehow magically smoothed things over.
