Each day, we are advancing the human race by eliminating the worthless civilians we like to call the poor, and you are all doing a good job so far. We've still got a lot to do though. In two days' time, the next group will be released into the arena, so we need to see how they get on.”
“As usual, Dalan,” he said, pointing to a man with a silvery beard, “will be in charge of refilling the supplies for each of the participants, as will his team. Gondra, tomorrow you and your team are making sure that all the cameras are properly working. Make sure no-one's broken any of them. And Musled, as always you and your group are checking on the day where everyone is on the map, especially our little friends.” James laughed along with the two other men seated at opposite ends of the room. “Half of us will be helping me go out and find the participants, and the other half – well, some of you are fairly new, so you can just watch. Any questions?”
A man at the back of the room raised his hand. “Yes, Irensi?” James called.
“How do you know that the girl and Lorja aren't going to find a way out in two days?”
“Oh, I don't blame you for asking that question, you've only been here for three days,” the man responded, chuckling slightly. “See, we told Lorja that the map was wrong when it's actually more or less correct,” he began to explain, “but it's just outdated because it's been there a long time. There are some places that they simply won't have been to because they don't exist any more. Some places will have moved as well. That'll make it even more confusing. We like to mess with their heads a little.”
“But it looks like they're going in the right direction,” Ire_n_s_i responded, wrinkling his small nose.
In an instant Ire_n_s_i's screen showed up on James', and he pressed a few buttons. A camera disguised as a rock zoomed in on the pair, and sure enough, it showed them walking towards the direction of the gate, the map in Emma's hands.
