Yes, that is indeed the point. Apparently tricks like that have fallen out of vogue, but I've been pretty disappointed by the abject inability to find it of late. Has reading the whole first page fallen so out of vogue? It's still the first thing I do when I'm looking at a new guild (not that that happens very often anymore, but still).

There's a very large difference between actually reading the content to a degree in which you understand the rules and regulations, and having to comb through the entire damned thing because you just *know* that there's a keyword or phrase somewhere.

The information is presented plainly enough, with a warning in the "READ BEFORE YOU APPLY" section. Even if that's the only section you read, you should know that there's something they should be doing with it.

Well, if people choose to ignore the words obviously demarcated as being the most important in a certain section, then maybe they're not the kind of people I need in my guild.

Look, we're a writing guild, and if an author lacks basic reading comprehension skills, then can they really even call themselves an author? Signing up for this place is putting your name forward to be part of a community of writers, which isn't a frivolous thing: there is at least a certain level of dedication, even if just to improving your craft, implicit in applying to join. If you want me to take the time to read your story and critique it, the least you can do in return is read the front page of my thread.
