Yes, they do, you're quite attentive. They have some variation, including a type that has a body consisting of many layers of muscles and flesh, but I figured it was already long enough as it was.

I'll see if I can post other monsters tomorrow or so, maybe the extra posts will help the thread grow. And thanks for keeping interest! We'll see how well the thread goes.

(Oo, this was a long one!)

Name: Daareral

Type: Otherworldly, mixed, hybrid, arthropod

Era: Ancient, Medieval

Appearance: Somewhat reminiscent of similar creatures that can be found in the Dungeons and Dragons, Warcraft, Dark Souls, and Elder Scrolls series, the Daareral are immense spider-, praying mantis-, beetle-like creatures. They consist of many types and kinds, some of which look like entirely different species. As their bodily structure is quite complicated, their description is quite long.

The Daareral have a beetle’s abdomen for a lower body, and then a protrusion at the front that is a torso, similar to a prothorax to that of a praying mantis but half the size of the abdomen. They have eight legs at the abdomen and six arms with elbows at the prothorax.

Their limbs are powerful and large, with the legs ending as hoof-like bony protrusions. The legs have knees, which are usually kept bent; if a Daareral was to outstretch his or her legs, the individual would appear extremely tall. They have six insect’s claws that act as fingers of each hand.

They have a large head shaped like that of a praying mantis, wasp, bee, or dragonfly, however, the immense eyeballs are not on the sides of the head but near the upper middle. The head is bulky, somewhat cube-shaped, and the neck is almost non-existent. The head is at the top of the protrusive torso of course, aligned so that the top of the head faces up, and the face forward. The mouth is wide, jaws capable of opening and closing, with hinged fangs always visible even when the mouth is closed, and a pair of huge pincers on the outside.

Their fangs can inject and eject venom, capable of being spat up to a dozen feet or more.

Both male and female Daareral grow a pair of large tapering horns, which grow out the forehead, curling forward, upward, and then backwards slightly. Their bodies do not grow fuzz, bristles or hairs, and are uniformly smooth and shiny.

They have two gigantic main eyes on upper middle of the head, however, the main eyes are flanked by two smaller eyes on the sides of the head, and then four more smaller eyes side-by-side on the forehead, uppermost pair the smallest.

Although spiders have poor eyesight and must compensate for having many, Daareral have excellent eyesight, and with eight eyes, can see great distances even in darkness, as their dark eyes have pupils. Daareral have an uncanny ability to make their eyes stare off in different directions at will; it is rare for more than two eyes to ever be looking at a single thing at the same time.

The Daarderal greatly vary in color, and can be anything from a single shade to perplexing, intricate, naturally grown designs that can be quite confusing to behold, similar to what can be seen on some spiders.

They grow protrusions on the head, which are rigid, growing in blade-like shapes and curling backwards, protecting the back of the head, neck and upper prothorax. Such growth that is long and shiny is considered to be fashionable.

Daarderal have a wasp-like stinger at the end of the abdomen, which can inject and shoot venom. It can protract up to a few feet, as well as retract back into the body.

Size: An adult male is usually around twelve feet tall, knees bent. Outstretching the legs, they can stand at over sixteen feet tall. Although gigantic, they are much lighter than they look, rarely exceeding five hundred pounds despite having an abdomen the size of an adult hippo. Much of their height comes from their vastly long, powerful legs. Males are usually larger than females.

Abilities: Can inject and spit venom with the fangs and stinger. They can see in the dark, and they can spin webs from their mouths. Younglings often spin their webs to make traps on objects to catch small animals, or nets to go fishing. Adults usually just go hunting.
They have an unusual exoskeleton, which does not mould, but regenerates like skin.
Daareral can talk, their speech having a loud hissing effect, sometimes making spoken words inaudible for other sentient species.

Diet: Carnivorous

Psychology: Despite their massive size and fearful appearance, Daareral are rarely aggressive unless hunting or provoked. Slow to argue, quick to forgive and forget, open to adjust thinking, fast in friendship even to other species, Daareral are often easygoing and gullible, almost to a point of foolishness, but they are not carefree.

Traits: Daareral are shy but curious. Even though they are arthropods, they fear spiders, beetles, scorpions, and bugs in general. Perhaps seeing miniature versions of themselves frighten them in an odd way.

Other: Oddly enough, all Daareral have wings, though it is rare that they open them, let alone fly. Most of them do not know how to even beat their wings to begin with. It seems that learning to fly was lost to them long ago. Daareral have a lifespan similar to humans.

Environment: They prefer wide, open areas, but can adapt. They dislike marshy and cold environments, and will probably die in any winter environment. They cannot swim and naturally fear fast-moving and deep water, but sometimes wade in streams and lakes to catch fish with silken nets.

Technology: Daareral know how to create weapons, armour, clothing, tools, art, pottery, and so on. They know basic mathematics, can read, and write with the grace of a demented child.

Clothing: Daareral wear clothing made out of their own silk. For the prothorax/torso, they wear a gigantic doublet, with holes for each arm to pass through. They also wear another garment for the abdomen, essentially a giant robe with multiple loose-fitting sleeves for the legs to pass through. This robe has an extension that is tied around the “waist”, the part above where the prothorax and abdomen meet.
Since Daareral have hoof-like projections in the shape of giant toes, footwear is unnecessary.

It is custom for all individuals to be their own tailor, which starts at a young age. Although they are arthropods and have an exoskeleton, meaning their “private parts” are not visible, they are shy enough to have modesty. They value their clothing almost as much as their own bodies, holding sacred views on their own silk.

Weapons: Natural weapons consist of hooves, horns, fangs, pincers, stinger, claws as fingers, and their own mass and size.
Daareral can manufacture bronze and iron spears, swords, axes, warhammers and maces of varying size. Javelins seem to be their only ranged weapon.

Armour: Seeing as they have many limbs and an oddly shaped body, making armour is tedious and labouring. Those who have the time or resources to get full-body armour usually wear chainmail or lamellar. The most common armour is boiled leather sandwiched between a few layers of their own silk. All armour is made in similar form as their regular clothing of course.

Breastplates and backplates of solid sheets of bronze or iron are also worn for the prothorax. They also know how to make shields, great helms (though this is rare, as most prefer to keep their pincers and fangs open to use as weapons), gauntlets, gorgets, coifs, spaulders, greaves, and manicas.

Equipment: Armour, weapons and tools.

Features: As mentioned earlier, some Daareral grow complex colors in the shape of patterns. They also grow horns, protrusions on the head, and have wings though almost all are flightless.

Domestication: A hatchling taken away from its natural environment may be raised as a pet. Daareral do not domesticate any animals themselves.

Background: Daareral tradition proclaims that they were created by godly, living, breathing silk so vast it is endless, which could weave things into existence. This seems to be their only mythos. They are a race of many surprises, a few already described.

Daareral are usually nomadic in lifestyle, living in groups of up to several families. They do not bother with tents, instead simply making immense tubes of web to snuggle in. When it is time to move on, they eat their tubular web to reuse it later. They like changes and adventure, having a fondness to settle in ancient, ruined, abandoned cities and settlements. Given enough time and with great numbers, they can coat entire settlements in so much spun web, that it appears as a labyrinth of silk. When so many webs is utilised, Daareral are known to humorously become stuck, or even trapped, in their own webs occasionally.

In their culture, it is considered offensive for a Daareral to fight another without shedding blood, yet it is also offensive if neither is able to perform the daily duties afterwards. If either is unable to perform whatever job they have, both are flogged.

If a thief is caught stealing, the thief is not punished for thievery, but punished for being a bad stealer; if a murderer is caught killing someone, the murderer is not punished for murder, but punished for being a bad murderer. Such an attitude is paramount in virtually all forms of law and order.

They usually live by a barter system, exchanging whatever they have, such as tools, weapons, armour, jobs, services, goods, food, resources, their own spun webs, and even kindness. Coinage and little valuable things are not part of their culture, though they can “buy” wares with anything mentioned above. They do, however, consider gems, crystals and diamonds valuable and attractive; hardly a surprise for a race with so many eyes!

Females lay a single egg, which takes at least whole year to develop inside the body, and then a few days for it to hatch. While hatching, the mother often helps her baby out, which is so tiny it fits in a Daareral’s hand.

The hatchling is capable of moving, spinning webs, and even attacking immediately after birth. Speech must be taught, though, for obvious reasons. Twins, triplets and quadruplets may develop in the same egg, but are less likely than those found in human births. Multiple births are considered good luck to the mother, though the hatchlings often fight within and then outside the egg, being the first nuisance for their parents.

Destiny: The Daareral are a powerful species capable of utilising weapons in every hand. Even civilians can simply trample humans and most animals to death with their powerful legs, or use their claws, pincers or fangs to deal punishment into most foes.

Fortunately, the Daareral have virtually no knowledge or experience in warfare; the worst they go through are brawls amidst two individuals. It doesn’t seem like they are a danger to themselves or to other civilisations. Their low rate of reproduction may be a disadvantage, though. Their large size makes them easy targets for any ranged weapon.

As long as they do not face foes with gunpowder-based weapons, climate change, or great floods or tsunamis, they'll probably be successful.

Well, 'later' somehow turned into 'in November'.
Haha, here's my golem!

Name: Solare Engine. Solare was the wizard that invented this creature, and named it after himself.

Type: Mechanical, e.g. a robot, golem, or a mechanical creature brought to life by magic/alchemy.

Era: Medieval, ancient, modern. Mechanical monsters have appeared in lore and history often, and are sometimes created by more modern wizards or alchemists.

Appearance: Roughly about eight feet tall. The Solare Engine’s chest is wide and bulky, protected by multiple layers of metal. The back of the chest has an exact copy of the front, joined by several gears.

The head of the Engine is also bulky and protected by metal. The Engine usually has 4 eyes, two in the front, and two on the sides. Some models have horns, some tusks, some even have mouths and teeth. The head always has a copy of itself on the back, making it look bigger. The Solare Engine always has 4 arms. Two for the front chest, two for the back.

The waist is thin, and is virtually just two feet of round metal that can turn 360 degrees around and bend in all directions. The waist has no copy of itself, but curves in the middle, where the two pieces are connected.
The waist is connected to; you guessed it, four gargantuan spider-like legs. Again, two in the front, two in the back. Each leg ends with a sharp, reinforced point for effective spearing. All the legs have many joints, so the Engine would be able to kick a man in the face.

Size: As said before, Solare Engines are usually 8 feet tall, and obviously weigh and immense amount.

Abilities: Apart from being a leviathan metal killing machine, the Solare Engine can separate itself from the copy of itself, turning the Engine into two separate golems. After whatever task caused the Engine to split apart is finished, it will meld back together.

Diet: The Engine needs no food, no rest, and no water. The only maintenance needed is an occasional oiling. However, the Engine is usually capable of doing that itself.

Psychology: Solare Engines have no mind or soul whatsoever, and it kills with unfeeling malice. However, some wizards have put their own soul into an Engine, making them be able to cast magic and be directly in the heat of battle.

Traits: Solare Engines can walk swiftly along the bottom of bodies of water, withstand immense heat, and could effectively destroy warrior towns and come out unscathed. The only weakness of Engines is that they are extremely susceptible to magic and spells.

Other: You’re probably wondering how mankind can still be alive if Solare Engines are around. Well, that’s because they are almost impossible to create. You’d need a dragon, several dwarves, and maybe a few master magicians just to form the body. Now, to actually make it come to ‘life’, you’d need the alchemic power equivalent to a supernova.
Because of all this, there are only two documented Solare Engines. One was made by Solare himself, while the other is the vessel of the legendary Sir Lancelot’s soul.

Environment: Living conditions are irrelevant for a Solare Engine. They will adapt to whatever climate they’re in.

Technology: Obviously, Solare Engines are very advanced in mechanical and alchemic ways

Clothing: None.

Weapons: Engines have small but strong needle-like claws on their hands. Their feet, not unlike spears, are also used offensively.

Armour: Engines are protected by several layers of metal plates and a chainmail-like covering.

Equipment: None.

Features: None, again.

Domestication: The last ‘none’! Huzzah!

Background: The alchemist Solare and his servants slaved for years to create a killing machine capable to win the war that was ongoing at the time. Ironically, after they created the Engine, it turned on its creators and nearly toppled Solare’s castle.
Among the rubble, wandering tribes found the prototype blueprints and sold them off as messages from the gods.
Eventually the blueprints made their way to a group of wizards and smiths employed by the king, and the ledgendary Sir Lancelot, the king’s son, had one made for him so his legacy would continue forever.

Destiny: How can we know? Humans are a warlike race to this day. They constantly create even deadlier weapons to conquer some foreign country. Perhaps Solare Engines will be used as soldiers once they can be controlled, or maybe the blueprints will be burned and all Engines destroyed.
Only time will tell.

-Taken from the writings of Llothar, alchemic scholar and President of Mecha-Magical Monsters.

Phew! All done! Sorry for the LONG delay.
