Name: Scrath. Can be pronounced 'Scwrath' and 'Scwraith'

Type: Hybrid.

Era: Otherworldly.

Appearance: Half human, half spider, the Scrath is a creature taken directly from a nightmare.
Has the torso of a human, while the waist and below are replaced by the legs and abdomen of a spider. The spider half varies in appearance depending on the type of spider. The human half always has dark colored skin and four pairs of red eyes.

Scrath have long ears, similar to that of the elves, and short fangs. The human torso is placed on the spider’s cephalothorax.

Size: The spider’s body can be up to 5 feet long and 4 feet tall, give or take. The human half is the same size as any other human. The combined weight varies, because of the different types and sizes of the spider half.

Abilities: The Scrath have short fangs, and is able to see in the dark. It has the ability to spin webs like a spider, and most of the time has superior strength and agility compared to that of a normal human.

Diet: Carnivorous and cannibalistic, the Scrath must feed on flesh or grow weak and die.

Psychology: Scrath are mostly aggressive, though some have overcome their urge to kill and can sometimes be helpful. All Scrath have an inexplicable fear of water.

Traits: Most Scrath are fond of the darkness and linger there, but some Scrath have been known to emit bright light. Studies have have shown that various Scrath have a special glands that convert darkness into light.

Other: None.

Environment: Scrath usually stay in dark areas, such as caves and forests. Some Scrath that have the light glands that were mentioned before will make their homes in brighter areas.

Technology: The Scrath are a primitive species. They rely mostly on their poisonous bites and sharp claws to defend themselves. If the Scrath can get its hands on any weapon it will use it well. Scrath that have bows are usually extremely accurate.

Clothing: Depends on the Scrath. Some will wear armor, if they can find some.

Weapons: Fangs, claws, and their superhuman strength. As said before, Scrath will gladly use weapons such as bows and swords.

Armour: As said in the ‘Clothing’ section, Scrath have no natural armor, but will wear protection if they can.

Equipment: None.

Features: Nothing that has not been mentioned in the *Appearance’ section

Domestication: Scrath will usually have their spider cousins as pets.

Background: The only thing known is that the Scrath were ‘created’. By who or what remains a mystery.

Destiny: Perhaps the Scrath will be destroyed. Perhaps they will prevail. Time will tell.

Well, that’s it! This is the ‘Beast* that was talked about in my W.I.P. prologue. :D

Oo, that’s a cool one. Coincidentally, I myself have had a similar creature in my pre-RuneScape work and now. I may post all my created monsters of this thread, to make it easier for myself to view. I like how you use a biological part, the cephalothorax, and then refer to some sort of bioluminescence, similar to deep-sea life or fungus, perhaps? I also liked how this is a reference to your other post, I did not see that coming.

Half-human half-spider hybridized monsters have made appearances here and there. I can think of the Daedric spiders from Elder Scrolls, or that Quelaag lady-spider-thing-lolwut from Dark Souls. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such creatures in movies or novels, though, but then again, I don’t really go into modern stuff.

Well, I think it’s time I get my act together and add a few of my own things, it might get the thread going.

Note that that title belongs to Dungeons and Dragons, so you may consider changing the name. JAGEX might complain and hide your posts, with the excuse that they don't wanna get sued.

Anyways, I'll post my masterpiece, a single project that took me, quite literally, several years to develop! Hopefully all those years paid-off.






Name: Enaedonai, plural *naedonaia
(*=E)

Type: Otherworldly anthropoid

Era: All

Appearance: Resembling golems but made of red meat. They are like massive humans, but without skin, their interior of flesh, tendons, bones, veins, arteries, nervous system, and working organs are all visible. They have a large head, with obviously enlarged cranium and shoulders, as well as wide hips. They lack a face, for it is absent of skin, cheeks, lips, nose, or ears; its gums and teeth are visible. Their skulls do not even have eye sockets, making their head look like a sphere of meat over an enclosed skull, the mouth the only opening. Their hands and feet possess protruding bones in the shape of claws.

Old *naedonaia grow protruding bones on the head, elbows, knees, and their bone-claws also extend greatly. The race does not seem to have males or females, consisting entirely of genderless members without reproductive organs.

The rarest type of *naedonai is of black flesh, having oil instead of blood, with a mechanical interior as well as wearing mechanical armour. Their mechanical insides and armour do not operate with technology, but instead, grows like flesh and connects to the nervous system, and can be controlled by thoughts and movements of the individual. These mechanised *naedonaia often fight with their fleshy cousins.

Size: The Enaedonaia are usually larger and taller than humans, but can be as small as monkeys. The largest and oldest types are up to a dozen feet tall.

Abilities: They can regenerate very quickly, possessing hyper-cellular division. Although they cannot speak, see or hear, they seem to be able to be aware of their surroundings. They are able to imagine the thoughts of other individuals, and so see themselves through the minds of other Enaedonaia, people, and even any animal.

*naedonaia are excellent at running, climbing, jumping and swimming, possessing the agility of monkeys yet brute force of gorillas.

The Enaedonaia carry an odd infection, which greatly speeds healing. For example, if a human were to be in direct contact with any of them, especially their blood, the infection would force the victim’s body in a state of hyperactive cellular division. There does not seem to be any disadvantage from this infection! However, the body’s immune system would eventually get rid of it. If someone were to keep this infection, which grants immortality so long as it’s active, the individual would eventually regrow into an *naedonai.

Diet: Carnivorous and known to cannibalize.

Psychology: Random

Traits: Despite their fearful size and appearance, *naedonaia are often passive and slow, especially when alone or in small groups. If in groups of a dozen or more, they are usually aggressive to just about anything.

Other: Enaedonaia are extremely difficult to kill. Even in death, their bodies regenerate until life returns. As they have no skin, they bleed easily when attacked, which makes the ground or flooring quite slippery very quickly. As their bodies constantly regenerate, they may live forever.

When in combat, they will flail their limbs and head wildly, using themselves as a weapon. If they have the space, they will charge and jump into people or other Enaedonaia, landing atop them to bury teeth and claws into flesh, or simply head-butt repeatedly into the face until the skull caves-in.

Environment: They usually live in their underground flesh-dungeons, where entire caves are covered with living flesh. The meat grows like a fungus, providing food. The odd “flesh-growth” may also grow organs, eyeballs, brains, hearts, bones, tendons and arteries randomly. The flesh-growth is actually a single living entity, intentionally growing itself. If left alone for vast amounts of time, thousands of years, it will eventually start growing on the surface.

Technology: Virtually none, though they will use melee weapons they stumble upon.
The Black *naedonaia do not seem to be any smarter despite their ability to use mechanized body parts.

Clothing: None

Weapons: Natural weapons consist of a tapering bone protruding from each finger and toe. They may use weapons they stumble upon. Black *naedonaia may use their mechanized limbs to deliver punishing metallic punches, head-butts and kicks.

Armour: None, though when old, their protruding bones may count as natural armour. Black *naedonaia wear mechanical armour as described earlier.

Equipment: Only the Black *naedonaia have anything that may be considered equipment. They can use their mechanical body parts to help them climb or attack things, for example.

Features: Old *naedonaia may grow bony protrusions.

Domestication: Unable to domesticate. Young *naedonaia may be raised as pets if taken away from their natural environment, and are as loyal and protective as dogs even against other Enaedonaia.

Background: The Enaedonaia were created by an entity known as “the Enigma*, which itself may have been created by something else. The Enigma is capable of empowering flesh to keep growing into anything it wants to, usually growing mass mounds of flesh to be a blueprint for a monster. The Enigma can also empower metal to grow like flesh, and is capable of creating odd “living machinery” as what the Black *naedonaia seem to be.

Destiny: Merging growing flesh and animate metal, the Enigma can prove to be an unstoppable force, capable of overgrowing an entire planet, converting it into a single factory of flesh and metal. It will keep growing, enlarging the planet until its own orbit breaks off, so that it will soon collide with a moon or another planet.

The collision will break chunks of the infected planet off, sending the parts as asteroids to the furthest reaches of the cosmos. If an asteroid lands on another planet or moon capable of supporting life, the odd cells, capable of withstanding extreme cold and heat, even the impact of an asteroid, will eventually regrow the Enigma’s Enaedonaia to act as the first assault troops of its invasion.

The Enigma’s mind seems to be connected to all of its growth as a single mind, regardless of how far away it is. Over the course of millions upon millions of years, entire solar systems can become a single mechanical and fleshy spider web-like space station of immeasurable and horrific size.
