If this virus can travel between real and fictional dimensions, it's obviously stronger than the flu! That's just logic.

Thanos: But you can't prove that. So far on the news, it's just a really bad flu.

Superman: The humans are just reporting on what they know. Even if nothing is really happening now, the fact is that this is not an ordinary virus. Keep in mind that they can only see what they can test. There are a lot of people out there who will not be tested, because they don't want to see a doctor or their country can't afford tests.

Deadpool: So we can't trust the news. We have to prepare for the worst case scenario.

Zeus: Which is going to Earth, showing everyone that anime is real, and we go all-out crazy time on Corona-Chan.

Rick: As ridiculous as that sounds, we have to prepare for that possibility.

Superman: But can we actually do that? That is the real question.

Morty: We are working on a full portal into the real world. As for the cure, testing has already begun in my lab on this virus. We're starting with just the regular medicine.

Homura: Yes, I would prefer it if we do not get involved in the real world.

Marisa: Misaka, are you OK? I'm sorry about your friend-

Misaka: It's fine, really. I don't have time to cry over that now.

Rick: Unfortunately, this isn't like the other wars. There's nothing you can do right now, except maybe help with the testing. If you are not a scientist, I would prefer it if you just stayed home.

Morty: We will let you know when we find a cure.

Zeus: And if you fail... O_o

Rick: Give us 1 month. And your best scientists. Hopefully, we'll have some answers for you.

Morty: We honestly don't know anything else right now.

Superman: I'll make an announcement to the public. They have the right to know.

9:00 PM

Lex Luthor receives a call in his mansion.

Lex: Yup?

Chairman: Guthix tested positive. Now the multiverse is in full panic mode.

Lex: Hahahaha. Hilarious. So what?

Chairman: A very anti-climatic event it could be. Rick, Morty, and some scientists are going to look for a cure while everyone else stays home. But if they fail, they will have to go the real world.

Lex: And do what?

Chairman: They don't know.

Lex: Unfortunately, this is just not good enough to address the potential end of all existence. But I'm glad that they made this public. I want to help them. And by helping them, I mean helping myself.

Ever since the big announcement, the days silently went by. Without any political campaigns, the people simply went about their lives.

Rick and Morty agreed to have Lex help them. He would work under video surveillance.
While the real world news continued to pile up the coronavirus cases, the fictional multiverse remained strangely calm.

The calm before the storm.

~ April 7, 2020 ~

Over a million cases have been reported worldwide. Most countries are in lockdown mode, where their citizens can't have social gatherings.

It seems that the virus is slowing down. People are not spreading it around as much, because they are staying at home.

Some countries are even considering opening things back up, to avoid an economic depression.

Late in the night, at a grave of coronavirus victims, the full moon shines brightly.

Suddenly, a hand sticks out of the dirt.

Wise Old Man: Welcome to the RuneScape News Network! We have breaking news! The special coronavirus coverage 24/7!

King Roald: Toilet paper stacks are being hoarded. The stores are empty. Some say the virus is peaking.

Wise Old Man: However, on social media, we have unconfirmed reports of zombies roaming the malls. They're not attacking anyone. They're just mindlessly wandering around.

King Roald: About 2 million confirmed cases worldwide. We bring in Saradomin to discuss this issue.

Saradomin: Obviously, I feel bad for Guthix, who is in quarantine. Hopefully, everyone stays safe out there. As far as we know, the virus is not affecting our worlds.

3:00 PM

Rick and Morty test hydroxychloroquine on the coronavirus.

Computer: Positive impact.

Rick: It looks like it works. The humans don't need our help.

Lex: Try again.

They try it again.

Computer: Negative impact.

Lex: See? It didn't die. It simply rearranged its atomic structure to survive it.

Rick: But the people in real life say it works-

Lex: It looks like the virus is simply pretending to be dead. The best victory comes from giving your opponent false hope. When you come back, they plunge into despair.

From a supervillain's perspective, everything that is happening now makes sense.

Look, you don't want the whole world to panic and shut down, because you can't infect everyone that way.

You want to infect as many people as possible, and when they shut down, you want them to open things back up, so you can continue to infect them.

I think the goal is to infect the entire human population. The virus may be pretending to be weak to lure humans back outside.

Rick: That's just speculation.

Lex: And what if I'm right? When it happens, it'll be too late. This is a risk we can't afford to take.

Morty: So what do we do?

Lex: I strongly recommend that we mobilize the troops and go to the real world. This is not a normal virus. We must help the humans defeat it!

Rick: But even if we do go out there, we'll be sitting ducks. We don't know how to fight the virus.

Lex: I think our green friend over there is creating the solution.

They talk to Guthix through a glass wall.

Rick: So what do you think?

Guthix: I have to agree with Lex on this one. I am currently working on a spell card that can kill this virus. I confirm that this is the same villain that tried to kill us all 2 years ago. This virus is made out of chaos, which is what happens when you mix light and dark energy together.

Lex: So could it be artificial?

Guthix: No normal virus contains this kind of chaos energy. Obviously, someone made it. And I'm willing to bet that someone is in the real world.

Rick: How long do you need?

Guthix: About a few weeks.

Lex: Do you need help?

Guthix: Not for now. I'll let you know.

Morty: You need to see this. A picture on social media of Corona-Chan. She looks just like the princess we met 2 years ago.

Rick: I see. It's all coming together now...

Wise Old Man: What people don't realize is that Homer is not a smart person. He just sounds smart because he prepared for the debates. Here's a clip of the real Homer Simpson taken during one of his rallies.

Voter: My question: What will you do for the illegal immigrants?

Homer: Well, umm...I will make them legal.

Voter: But then how can you ensure that they are not wasting taxpayers' money? There is no doubt that they will be a burden on the system. Especially if you promise them free health care. So is there a way to balance that out?

Homer: The billionaires will pay for everyone's health care.

Voter: Yes, but surely there must be a limit. The billionaires don't have an infinite amount of cash.

Homer: Then the immigrants will get jobs.

Voter: OK, how will they get jobs?

Homer: They will be legal, and they can apply for jobs.

Voter: What if they can't speak English?

Homer: They can apply for a job in their home language.

Voter: But some universes, I think most of them, require English. So will you pay for their English education costs?

Homer: This is getting really complicated, umm...yes.

Voter: But like I said, there is a limited amount of money. Once it runs out, the system goes broke, so does your plan have a safeguard against that?

Homer: Ummm...uhhh...D'ohh...I'll pay for them as long as they need. I trust them to get a job eventually and not leech off the system forever-

Voter: But they would have no incentive to get off the welfare. Your plan so far does not mention anything about a time limit or a limit on the number of illegal immigrants.

Homer: It is very complicated. We will have the numbers once I take office. We're still...you know...crunching through the numbers. Unfortunately, this is the best I can offer you.

If you want to vote for someone else, I totally understand.

Voter: Thank you for your honesty. I will not vote for you.

Wise Old Man: As you can see, this is not good. Homer's policies would bankrupt the economy. We can't just take in all the immigrants and pay for their lives. It would be really nice if we could, but the economy would not hold.

King Roald: We want to help immigrants and the poor, but they need to help themselves too. We're not saying that immigration is bad. But they have to do their work too. We don't have an infinite amount of resources to hand out.

A few weeks pass by and nothing much happens. Suddenly, it happens.

Superman: Alright, listen up! We have found a cure for the coronavirus. It is chaos energy disguised as an ordinary virus. We now know that it can turn people into living zombies, and it can control anything that it infects. Social media reports mindless zombies roaming around and touching everything in the stores. We also have reports of insects going into people's houses and infecting them. It is clear that the coronavirus is a living virus. It is self-aware. It wants to end humanity.

Rick: Guthix has managed to create a special spell card that can kill the chaos virus. We suspect that the one controlling the virus is in the real world right now, and has retained all of her supernatural powers.

We have tested it in both here and in the real world. Both tests were successful. This will kill the virus.

In front of you is a portal to the real world. When you step through it, you will be in a spaceship owned by our friends in the Zeta Reticuli star system. You will be given a special communication device that will protect you from the virus. This device will also disguise you as a human, so no one knows who you really are.

But you will lose most of your powers. Anything that does not follow real world physics will be gone. You will be like ordinary humans. We cannot guarantee your safety. You could die, and we don't know how to bring you back.

If you want to back away, now is the time. Once you go over there, there is no turning back.

No one backs away.

Morty: Good. You will also be given these special guns that contain the spell card. When you shoot someone with it, that person will be cured. You will also be given laser guns in case of actual violence. We also have body armour if you need it.

Superman: We believe that Corona-Chan is hiding somewhere on Earth. Probably China.
If we kill Corona-Chan, the virus will disappear. This will be the most difficult mission in your life.

Rick: This is it, folks. This is our judgement day. Any questions?

Goku: I don't think this Corona-Chan is just going to come out and show herself. How do we find her?

Morty: We'll lure her out. She will see that we're curing people, and she will have to respond. We have to be patient.

Misaka: How did Guthix figure it out? The spell card?

Rick: It's made up of fictional and real world data. Guthix figured out a way to kill both parts using his own DNA. I think that he must have come from the real world. Otherwise, this would not be possible.

Morty: He seems to be immune to the virus. Any more questions?

The crowd is silent.

Morty: Step through single file.

The crowd steps through the portal one at a time. They are now in a spaceship.

Alien: Did we get everyone?

Rick nods his head.

Alien: Initiating warp drive.

The spaceship teleports to the Himalayas on Earth. The crowd puts on their gear and move out on regular trucks.

Thanos: Let's try to pretend to get along.

Misaka: Yeah.

Alien: I am now releasing the cure into the atmosphere.

Rick: Thanks. Great.

Morty: Now we wait. If everything runs smoothly, there is no reason for anyone to die.

6:00 AM

Officer: Hubei city. Show your IDs.

Goku: Just here for food delivery.

Officer: You may pass.

The trucks unload some real food into the local stores. The people inside the trucks sneak out.

The zombies who came in and touched the food were suddenly cured.

Person: What am I doing here?

Reimu: Well, this is much easier than my usual little wars.

Marisa: It beats dodging bullets, that's for sure.

Darkseid: This is really boring, though. I prefer a regular war.

Shuang: So this is China in the real world...

As the virus is being destroyed, Corona-Chan notices...

- Episode 12: Real War, Real Problem -

10:00 AM

It is morning in the Himalayas. Snow lightly falls while the Sun shines at 6,000 metres altitude.

Alien: Decontamination is 35% complete.

Rick: So everything is going according to plan.

Morty: But this is too easy. There's no way it'll just end like this.

Alien: The news are reporting that cases are dwindling worldwide. Some countries are opening up. Your computer detected Corona-Chan, correct? So do you know where she is now?

Morty: No. We only detected her once. Now she's hiding somewhere. I honestly have no idea where she is. She could be on the other side of the universe. But that doesn't matter. As long as we take the virus off Earth, and she leaves us alone, we can just let her go.

Rick: No point in chasing after her if she's not a threat.

*ALARM*

Rick: What is it?

Alien: Some unknown creatures are approaching our ship. I don't think they're from Earth.

Strange beasts with tentacles reach out to the ship.

Rick: Shoot them down! LET'S GO!

The ship fires some lasers to kill them, but more come.
The ship then takes flight.
Strange flying beasts latch onto the ship.
The ship puts up an electric shield to knock them off.

Rick: How did they find us? I thought we were hiding!

Morty: Take a dead body! Do it!

Alien: Yes, sir!

The ship takes a dead beast and then lands on another mountain.

Rick: I thought this ship was supposed to be invisible. What gives?

Alien: It is. How did they find us? And what are they?

Morty: That's what we'll find out!

A dead beast is brought into the lab and dissected by a computer.

Computer: 95% match human DNA. 5% unknown.

Suddenly, a giant elephant with 3 eyes throws the ship off the mountain.
The ship then takes off into space.

Alien: Should we go back?

Rick: It's too dangerous. We have to let the others know.

Morty: Goku! Are you there?!?!

Goku: Yeah, what is it?

Morty: We have code red. Some things attacked us, and now we're forced into space. Tell everyone. Lay low until we come back.

Rick: These things are humans apparently.

Morty: Infected by the virus, and have transformed into beasts.

The dead beast in the lab comes back to life and pours acid all over the glass.

Alien: Nice try, but this is acid-proof.

Rick: Check for coronavirus.

Computer: Coronavirus infection confirmed.

Rick: Do you still need this thing?

Morty: I got the DNA sample. You can burn it.

Computer: Incinerated.

Rick: If we used human technology, we'd be dead by now. Thank goodness for aliens, am I right?

Alien: Lol.

Meanwhile, in Hubei.

Goku: So we're stuck in this hotel until further notice.

Darkseid: Meh. The beasts aren't a big deal.

Misaka: But remember, we're basically humans here. No special powers.

Darkseid: Then why are you here? I still have some powers. You have nothing, lightning girl.

Goku: Leave her alone. Cut it out. No bullying.

Darkseid: I was just pointing out the obvious...

*knock**knock*

Person: Room service.

Superman: Hi-WHOA!

The person transforms into a bear and jumps on top of Superman. Thanos rushes in and shoots the bear. It turns back into a human.

Batman: What the...?

Thanos: You're welcome.

*WAR SIRENS*

Madoka: What now?

Homura: We need to get out of here.

Superman: Everyone, pack up your stuff! This is not a drill!

Batman: Elevators are down!

Superman: We'll get some exercise on the stairs!

The group rushes down to the lobby and out the back door.

*GUNFIRE*
*SCREAMS*
*JETS FLY OVERHEAD*

The group steals a military truck and they take off.

Superman: Coming here was a mistake. We can do nothing!

Batman: I thought they were cured?!?!

Homura: Rick and Morty better have an explanation for this.

Goku: They don't. We just have to get out of the city.

Officer: This city is under lockdown. No one is allowed out!
