Batman: Well, yeah, I mean there are many "real" universes connected to the real world. As long as these aliens are "real", they can come in anytime.

Guthix: Is it possible...that the real world is a computer simulation? Then, can it be glitched? When I created RuneScape, it was full of bugs. People from other worlds were coming in and it was really messy.

If the real world is like RuneScape, then maybe it's bugged. Maybe there's a "back door" that connects it to the fictional multiverse that we just don't know about.

No computer is perfect, so just maybe...

Superman: If we can observe the real world, then maybe we can go there.

Morty: Quantum mechanics says that the probability of a "back door" is not zero. It is possible, but it takes a really long time to get the right door. We're talking trillions of years, and the universe isn't even that old. So this villain was able to get the right door right away.

Guthix: Won the lottery on the first try.

Batman: First, you have to prove that whatever this thing is out there, is actually the villain. Because once we declare a state of emergency, there is no turning back!

Goku: I honestly have no idea what you guys are talking about. O_o

Superman: They found a bad guy in the real world, but we're not sure.

Goku: Why don't you just go there and find out?

Guthix: Because we can't.

Rick: But now we can at least watch the real world news. That might tell us the answer.

Meanwhile, in Wuhan, China...

Hundreds of people have passed out on the streets. Ambulances rush them to the hospitals.

Episode 5: The Trial of Darkness

For the House votes, it was revealed on the news that on Article I:

Yes: 163 Democratic-Liberals and 1 Independent
No: 156 Conservative-Republicans, 1 Democratic-Liberal, and 1 Independent
Abstain: 2 Independents

On Article II:

Yes: 161 Democratic-Liberals
No: 156 Conservative-Republicans, 3 Democratic-Liberals, and 1 Independent
Abstain: 3 Independents

There is support on all sides in favour of anime and video games. This is good news for anime fans and gamers.

~ January 13-18 Highlights ~

Senate Leader: We shall now begin the Senate trial on the impeachment of anime and video games. Thank you to all the volunteers who made this possible. This is the next phase in the trial, after it has passed the House. Let's briefly go through the ground rules.

You can only call witnesses that are on the list. You cannot call any new witnesses.
Since we are talking about banning an entire multiverse, we need a 67% majority or more to vote "Yes" to impeach. For 100 people, you need 67 votes or more.

We have decided on the trial schedule. It will go from January 13-18, 21-25, and 27-30.
Then February 3-6. Then we will take a break.

The final vote will be cast on 9 AM February 12.

We have 100 people present; 50 Conservative-Republicans, 46 Democratic-Liberals, and 4 Independents. Let's take attendance.

Superman: I'll start. Let's look at the big picture.

This isn't about whether we agree with the views of a silly cartoon.
This isn't about our right to joke around.

This is about social justice.
This is about humanity.
This is about telling our children what is acceptable and what is not.
How do we treat our families, friends, how do we treat women and other groups of people?

You tell me that anime is just for fun. Tell that to the women who have been bullied by men. On 4chan. In real life. Tell that to the victims of anime and video games. Victims of violence, victims of oppression, victims of crimes against humanity.

This is going to be a long trial. It's easy to get distracted by a tree in the forest.

Look at the big picture. Not just the cartoon. Think about my words while we go through this trial.

How long have humans lived for? How long has anime existed for?
Anime was invented in the 20th Century. Humans have obviously been alive long before that.

And guess what? Open a history textbook. Humans have committed crimes long before anime was invented. Long before we even had art.

So how can you blame anime for things that happen all the time?

Maybe it's time for you to stop looking at trees and get out of the forest.

Kate: Hi. As a woman, I am not offended by funny anime shows. What does offend me are anime shows that promote toxic masculinity, where men use women as slaves to cook and clean for them. And there are way too many of them. Until anime decides to become more family-friendly, adopt good moral values, there's no reason for us to let this go on.

Goku: Anime already has good moral values. Probably better than what you have. Our men stand up for humanity, we fight back against evil, and women do that too. We work together for the greater good. Frankly, I don't see any problems with anime. We're just like any other TV show or Internet show.

Referee: This is a closed-book exam. Anyone caught cheating will be disqualified. You have 2 hours. Raise your hand if you need the washroom. You must use the provided pencils and erasers. Do not open the paper booklets until I say so.

The candidates are seated.

Referee: Alright, good luck. Begin!

5:10 PM

Referee: That's time. Pencils down. Papers up to the front.

The papers are handed in.

Referee: Thank you. You are free to go. We'll have the results for you next week.

Misaka: Well, that was easier than I expected.

Natsumi: Same.

Misaka: I just learned Chinese a month ago, so I'm new to all of this.

Luffy: I honestly just winged it. I have no idea.

Shuang: Easy.

Long Cheng: I know Traditional Chinese. I finished it in an hour.

Misaka: So, ummm...you know that squirrel question? I chose B.

Shuang: Because it was climbing up the tree to get food? Yeah, it's B.

Misaka: YES!

On the night of January 21, Misaka Mikoto struggles to explain the trial to Kamijou Touma.
After a while, he starts to understand it.

Kamijou Touma: Let me know if you need help.

Misaka: I told you, you can't help! You're not a witness!

Kamijou Touma: Why can't I just be a witness?

Misaka: You weren't on the list! And that list had to be handed in a long time ago!

Kamijou Touma: Too bad. Well, good luck.

Santa Claus: I agree with the Democrats, but I do think we need to get this over with.
The more time passes on impeaching anime, the less time we have to deal with climate change, health care, and education. I do think that anime is a serious issue for women, but it is one of many issues. One of them being climate change that needs to be addressed now.

Ash: I have always stood up for love and friendship. I teach good moral values all the time.

Darkseid: Then explain the animal abuse in your anime. Explain why your Pokémon are kept in balls. Why are you enslaving animals?

Ash: The balls are just a convenient way to carry them around. A lot of them are really big, and you don't want to carry a big crowd around.

Darkseid: Then explain the animal fighting in your anime. Explain why you make Pokémon fight and kill each other for fun.

Ash: Are you even watching the right anime? It's a sport. It's like wrestling. We fight for fun. To test our skills. To see who's the best. It's no different from any kind of soccer game or karate match. No, we don't let our Pokémon die. If they're not feeling well, we take them to the hospital. And we respect our Pokémon. Seto Kaiba: As long as they don't touch Yu-Gi-Oh, I don't care. I mean, there are issues in the anime community, especially certain people with red and yellow spiky hair (Yugi).

Santa Claus: Wouldn't you all agree that our economy is unfair to the middle class?

Homer: It is unfair, but we can't make everything free.
