Thanos: Well, what do you know?!?!? You just met him once!

Guthix: It doesn't make sense. He was protecting us until now.

Thanos: Those reality barriers could've been fake-

Guthix: I checked. They were genuine. And we would've been infected by now if they weren't. We all went out there, right?

Thanos: How do you know you're not infected now?

Guthix: I just know. Gut instinct.

Superman: Everyone, get your military out if you haven't done so already. Lock up your universes as much as you can. Cut off cable, internet, just shut down everything.

About 4,000 universes managed to get martial law declared. The other universes were not so lucky. They were already decaying and being deleted.

Superman: We need to go to Darkseid's universe and get some answers. This may be a one-way trip, since once you get infected, you're gone.

Guthix: I managed to figure out how to replicate Darkseid's reality barriers. We can use my barriers there.

Superman: I'm asking all of you to come. We need all of you.

The whole crowd agrees to come.

Guthix: Everyone, put on this bracelet. Once you put it on, the barrier sticks, even if the bracelet is destroyed.

Madoka: Well, this is certainly a lot more fun than hockey!

Homura: Yeah, just don't get hurt!

Superman: Again, we can't guarantee your safety. You might die forever! But this has to be done to save our existence!

Haruhi: I'm with you, man! Let's go!

Wise Old Man: I'm in.

Asriel Dragneel: You're going to need me too.

Reimu Hakurei and other Touhou characters suddenly appear.

Reimu: I've been watching the games.

Superman: This isn't a game.

Reimu: I know, but when I heard about your emergency, I decided to show up.

Marisa: She never shows up!

Reimu: Shut up!

Yukari: If it's an issue with the universes, you can count me in.

Hecatia: Don't forget about me!

Charlie Brown: I want to come, although I know I won't be of much help...

Superman: Hey, it's your life. We're not going to stop you from taking the risks. But don't expect us to save you when the time comes...

Charlie Brown: I understand, but if I do nothing, I'd die anyways.

Guthix: Thank you, everyone. Thank you all. I believe now. I believe we can win this. I believe in all of you.

The crowd enters a spaceship. The portal opens in front of it. Guthix kneels down in silent prayer upon the eternal light...

- The Battle -

The spaceship enters an infected universe. The planets have been reduced to clumps of asteroids. The stars appear dim. The reporter and the Commissioner have agreed to stay behind and monitor the device. There are 4,026 universes left.

The spaceship teleports to Darkseid's home planet. It is in ruins, with no signs of life.

Superman: Cloaking device activated.

Guthix: I know Darkseid is down there, even if the drones can't detect him.

The spaceship lands and most of the crowd can come outside without astronaut suits. Characters like Charlie Brown have agreed to stay inside.

The crowd quietly sneaks into the castle and find no one inside. An eerie silence dominates the landscape. They come across a pile of debris and lift it up.

Yukari: This universe was hacked into. I can tell.

Superman: So...

Yukari: I'm beginning to think Darkseid may be innocent. Definitely signs of a break-in.

Superman: Whoever managed to break into Darkseid's universe is extremely powerful, so everyone stick together! No one will fight alone!

Guthix: Shhh! Quiet!

The castle was definitely torn up, which is a sign of a battle. They searched the dungeons and the top floors. They found nothing of interest.

Guthix: I can no longer feel Darkseid's presence on this planet...

Superman: Then where could he be?

Back at the spaceship, Charlie Brown watches the sky and yawns. Suddenly, the spaceship starts to take off.

Charlie Brown: Oh, they're back already?

Hecatia: Our ship!

The crowd rushes back to the ship but they are all repelled by a barrier. The ship opens up a portal and it goes through it, leaving them all behind.

Superman: What?!?! I can't believe it! We've been-

Guthix: Lured. He knew we'd come and he wanted to run.

Superman: That's not his style. Any way to get back?!?!

The spaceship arrives at the league headquarters.

Commissioner: That was fast. Did you-

Darkseid emerged out of the spaceship. He fires an energy blast to destroy the spaceship and then he destroys the league headquarters.

Darkseid: The end is near. Soon it will all...end.

He looks at the device and creates portals to every remaining universe. He places his hand over each portal, one by one.

Superman: We have to hurry back or we'll all die!

Yukari: I got you covered. I opened up some portals. Hurry and get in!

The crowd rushes through the portals back to the league headquarters. They all barely manage to make it back in time before Darkseid's universe was deleted.

Darkseid: You're already too late. Soon you will all die.

Superman: But why? Why?!?! I thought you were protecting us!

Darkseid: I don't need to explain myself to people who are about to die.

Guthix: You're not Darkseid. I don't buy this for a second!

Darkseid: I am Darkseid. You can believe what you want.

The crowd fires attacks at Darkseid but none of them work. Thanos manages a punch but Darkseid punches him back. Goku fires an energy blast but Darkseid blocks it. Saitama manages to throw a serious punch on Darkseid, which sends him spiralling across the galaxy.

Darkseid: RAWRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darkseid screams in pain, and then he tries to destroy the universe. Reimu manages to stop him.

Reimu: FANTASY SEALING BARRIER!

Guthix: Everyone, I have a plan! I'm sending it telepathically to you!

While Darkseid is distracted, Guthix calls upon everyone to lend him their power.

Time is running out, so they had no other choice. There were only 1,000 universes left and they have all been infected. If they lose here, there will be nothing left. Martial law proved to be useless against the universal decay. The remaining universes devolved into chaos, with people running around. Many universes had zombie invasions, and others simply died quietly.

Darkseid manages to hold off Saitama and breaks through Reimu's barrier. Guthix has transformed into a being of pure light energy. He sends out a blinding flash of light onto Darkseid.

Darkseid: Fool. You have no chance. Just give up!

Darkseid tries to punch Guthix, but he easily dodges it. Goku, Saitama, and Superman then jump on top of Darkseid and take him down onto a planet. Reimu puts up her barrier around him. Hecatia and many other characters lend her their power to strengthen the barrier.

Darkseid: YEARRRRRRRRGH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Darkseid manages to break free again.

Darkseid: I WILL DELETE YOU ALL!

He snaps his fingers and nothing happens.

Darkseid: WHAT?!?!

Darkseid: AHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!

Darkseid screamed in pain as he started to disintegrate.

Guthix: I was able to reverse-engineer the reality barrier into a reality mirror. That flash of light placed it onto you. When you tried to delete us, your command was reflected back onto you, so you deleted yourself. Good fight. It's done, and now the true villain can reveal itself.

As Darkseid dies, a shadow emerges out of him. Guthix places a reality barrier to contain the shadow. Reimu and everyone else place additional barriers for safety.

Guthix: Now speak. Who are you? What is your motive?

The shadow does not respond. Shadows from the 1,000 remaining universes rush in and attempt to take over Guthix.

Reimu: No!!!

Hecatia: There's nothing we can do now. It's up to him.

Superman: Come on, Guthix. If you lose this, it's over!

After a few minutes of struggle, Guthix extinguishes the shadows.

The shadow that was trapped by Guthix then tries to escape. Guthix manages to delete it. He then returns to his normal form, which is a man in green clothing, and falls to the ground unconscious.

The crowd finally catches their breath. There is an awkward silence.

- July 15, 2018 -

Guthix wakes up on a hospital bed.

Superman: He's up!

Superman and many others have gathered around him.

Guthix: What happened...?

Superman: You did it. We won.

Guthix: The universes?

Superman: All healthy again, and we're trying to revive all the dead ones.

Hecatia: While you were asleep, we figured out how to use the reality barriers to stop the decay. We were able to fix any infected universes.

Reimu: Yeah, it was a team effort. We needed all the gods on this one.

Thanos: So what happened? What was that thing?

Guthix: When it tried to possess me, I saw into its mind. I think I have some idea of what it is...

Guthix tries to remember.

Guthix: That thing is not a fictional character, like us. It's different...I think it came from the real world.

Superman: No wonder it was so tough to beat.

Guthix: You know, the real world is what created us. It is what created the fictional multiverse. That thing was programmed to delete all of us.

Superman: Yeah, but why?

Guthix: I honestly don't know. But I do have one of its memories. It broke into Darkseid's universe and then possessed him. It wanted to frame Darkseid as the villain.

Superman: Did it kill Rick and Morty?

Guthix tries to remember.

Guthix: Yes, it did.

Superman: So what do we do?

Guthix: Bring them back, obviously. But it is ultimately a question of faith. As long as people in real life believe in us, we will continue to live. It's like religion. We will continue to win the battle against these things. I had the faith of my fans, and everyone around me. That's how I beat it when it tried to possess me.

Reimu: So as long as people believe in us, we will win.

Guthix: Yeah, that's what I said. So we need to appeal to our fanbase. We need to give them reasons to like us. To care about us. No one cared about Darkseid, that's why he lost.

Superman: People do care about him, but it wasn't enough.

Guthix: Not enough faith.

Hecatia: Honestly, sounds like a Touhou story.

Guthix: Some hater in real life probably created that thing. Resurrect everyone who died.

Superman: Most haters can't create something like this. Obviously, a very intelligent one. I'll resurrect them.

Commissioner: So...do you still want to continue the game? You don't have to. We could just cancel...

Guthix: No, I insist. Let's finish this silly hockey game. I think it'll be great for the fans, anyways! Get the faith up!

Commissioner: Alright, Haruhi, you up for it?

Haruhi: Let's do it! Don't think I'll go easy on you just because you saved the multiverse!

Guthix: Heh, as expected. Wouldn't have it any other way.

Saradomin wins the face-off against Haruhi. To Zamorak. He dumps it in. Sliske fires a shot, saved by Luffy.

- 2nd Overtime -

HARUHI SHOOTS! MADOKA ON THE REBOUND! STOPPED BY GUTHIX! HOMURA IS OFFSIDE!

*whistle*

Crowd: GO RUNESCAPE GO! GO RUNESCAPE GO!

- 3rd Overtime -

Saradomin to Zamorak. SLISKE RIGHT IN THERE, STOPPED BY LUFFY! Tenshi brings it in. To Flandre. MISAKA MIKOTO HIT THE CROSSBAR!

Crowd: OH!!!!!!!!!!!

- 4th Overtime -

Akame is looking for a shot. Blocked by Tenshi.

- 5th Overtime -

Another shot by Haruhi is blocked by Saradomin.

- 6th Overtime -

HARUHI REDIRECTS A TIPPED SHOT OVER THE NET!

- 7th Overtime -

SARADOMIN ALMOST SCORES BUT HE HIT THE POST AGAIN!

GUTHIX ROBS SAITAMA AT POINT-BLANK RANGE!

The two goaltenders hug.

The SOS Brigade then heads to the locker room.

The red carpet is brought out and the Multiverse Cup is carefully placed on a golden table. The MVP Trophy is placed beside it. The Commissioner, all dressed up in a fancy suit, makes his speech.

Commissioner: It has been a long and wild journey. It is a year of miracles. It is miracle, that despite all that has happened, we can still be here and enjoy a big game. We want to recognize Guthix for his effort to save our existence. He went above and beyond the call of duty to save us all! He is a true hero to all! We are proud to present to him the Medal of Honour!

*APPLAUSE*

Guthix shakes hands with the Commissioner and then he places the medal onto Guthix. They take a photo together.

Commissioner: The most valuable player of the 2018 Multiverse Cup Playoffs is also the most valuable player of the season. He is also the series MVP against the World of Warcraft and the SOS Brigade! Congratulations to Guthix!

A photo is taken with Guthix hoisting the MVP Trophy beside the Commissioner.

*APPLAUSE*

Commissioner: I know you're all tired, so without further ado, may the team captain of RuneScape please hoist the Multiverse Cup! It's your moment, Guthix!

The players below never played in the Multiverse Cup Final. Most of them only played in minutes near the end of the games, when RuneScape was guaranteed to win no matter what. They last played in the first round against the World of Warcraft. They still get to hoist the Multiverse Cup, to recognize them for their effort during the regular season.

The assistant coaching staff and the team equipment cleaner were the last to hoist it.

The whole team then gathers around Guthix and the Multiverse Cup for a team photo. They all hold up one finger to symbolize that they are number one.

After all of that, most of them did not party. They were very tired, so they went to sleep in their homes right away. Only the Wise Old Man and King Roald held an actual party right after the game.

- July 24, 2018 -

Commissioner: People, everyone, I regret to inform you that this will be the last season of the Multiverse Sports League. There will be no more games across the multiverse. There will no more Multiverse Cups awarded. It's over. I have spoken with Superman and experts on the multiverse about the recent events that have threatened to end our existence.

For safety reasons, we have decided that it is for the best to cancel these games forever. You can still have games within your own universes, but not between different universes.

I strongly encourage you all to attend RuneScape's Multiverse Cup Parade tomorrow, because it will be the last event that will be hosted by the Multiverse Sports League.

It has been fun. I will remember this forever. But now it's time to say farewell.

The Multiverse Cup Parade was held in Varrock. The parade route was on the main street, starting from Varrock West Bank and ending at Varrock East Bank.

It was a straight line between these two banks. Over 10,000,000 fans showed up to this fantastic event. Varrock was overcrowded, and most people had to watch it on TV somewhere else.

This was a defining moment in RuneScape's history. A moment to be remembered for now. Forever.

The Multiverse Sports League officially disbands.

King Roald: Thank you for everything.
Tenshi: No need to thank me.
Wise Old Man: Without the Multiverse Sports League, there's no need for a team anymore.
Guthix: Back to our normal scheduled programming?
Wise Old Man: Of God Wars, PvM, and other pointless stuff.
Saradomin: They're not pointless, well, sometimes they are.
King Roald: Back to the normal EXP grind.
Misaka: RuneScape seems like a good game. I'll come back and visit sometime.

Postie Pete: This just came in the mail. Before you go, here are your Multiverse Cup 2018 rings. Last thing they made before they disbanded.
Wise Old Man: A toast to all. Cheers.

The players pick up their rings and share one last lunch together in the Varrock Castle before heading off. Alice, Flandre and Tenshi head back to Gensokyo in the Touhou universe. Saber heads back to the Fate universe. Gandalf heads back to the Lord of the Rings universe. Merlin does not have a home universe. He decides to follow Gandalf around for a bit, and will settle in Harry Potter's universe. Misaka Mikoto heads back to A Certain Scientific Railgun universe.

Several other foreigners who worked for Team RuneScape with coaching and with the equipment also returned home.

It all started with a dream and a smile. It was all done in the trades. From last place to first place to champions, RuneScape masters the art of making deals. Anything is possible, and for RuneScape, it is everything.

RuneScape. For now.
Forever.
