Annie was fusterated that her group was treating her like a child even though she can defend herself if needed to. She said,"I think you are wrong about this girl. If she wanted to hurt us she would have already." She was able dodged Harry from grabbing her shirt and pulling her behind him. She crawled under Isaac's arm that was blocking her from the thirteen year girl. She walk a little closer to the girl and asked in a calm voice,"Are you hurt? I am not going to hurt you." -Dances-

Elyssia

Perhaps the man named Harry had warned of bodies, but Elyssia wasn’t quite sure anything could have prepared her for... this. Still, even her knees buckled harder than ever, she managed to put on a brave face.

As they approached the hallway, she couldn’t help but stare at the young girl ahead of her. This young girl couldn’t have been much older than her. How could she have so much confidence?

At Elisabeth’s statement, Elyssia flashed her a weak smile. “y-yeah” she replied, “I’ll be fine”.

Her confidence lasted until the last turn of the staircase, where the floor had become slick. Her beam of light hitting the floor, she could see the floor was splattered in a deep crimson, but didn’t quite put the pieces together until she rounded the corner.

“Oh.”

Dropping her torch, it clattered down the few remaining stairs as her hand cupped around her mouth. She turned away, violently retching into her hands. Even with her eyes tightly closed, the image was burned into her mind.

“S-sorry” She muttered, gingerly climbing down the last few steps to pick up her torch. As she did so, she looked up – careful not to linger on the bodies - to peer at the unfolding situation in the next room.

Outpost - Underground Vault

Please stay back.

The voice that came from the girl was flat and emotionless, and she did not turn around to regard any of the group. The tone itself wasn’t exactly commanding, but it did say that she meant what she was saying. It wasn’t simply the whim of someone that had no conviction behind their words, nor a request that meant nothing if not obeyed.

Yeah, that looks like what I saw. She’s a bit younger than I thought, though, and the swords were floating.
” the writer replied, peeking out from behind their front lines to get a better look at the girl. From the look on her face, she was rather interested, although if that was because of the girl, the sarcophagus, or something else, it wasn’t clear.

However, she did take a step back and put a hand on Elyssia’s shoulder, saying gently, “
Don’t apologize. To be sickened by something like this is normal, and it’s the right thing to be. It’s people like us that should be apologizing for making something like this commonplace.

Lias did not speak yet, but her hands were bone-white on her weapon and she was staring intensely at the girl. It seemed that she was still barely in control, but what had stopped her had been the question that Isaac had asked. Something about it mattered, and it wasn’t exactly a mystery what that might be.

The answer came in the girl’s next breath.

Yes. They were attempting to retrieve my objective, and wished to stop me.

She did not elaborate, and Lias immediately responded, her voice low, the tone saying she was trying very hard not to fire the crossbow that she was holding.

What about the outpost soldiers? Did you kill them too?

No.

At the response, it almost seemed like everything drained out of Lias’ posture. While it wasn’t exactly clear what she even thought of this girl, it was clear that this had already taken a rather great toll on her. Placing a hand against the wall, and lowering her crossbow, Lias shut her eyes momentarily, deep breaths going in and out as she tried to get herself together.

It was during this time that Annie tried to move forward, and was met with another, “
Stay back.
” from the girl. While her emotionless words didn’t change, the lack of the word “please” at the start indicated that she was no longer making a request. At the demand, the swords on the ground rattled slightly as though rocked by a tremor, but they subsided moments after beginning.

Annie said in a calm voice,"Ok, I am sorry. I am going to stepping back now." She took a few steps back so she doesn't get hurt or the others in the group. Then she said," We are not here to steal anything from you or hurt you. Are you thrusty or hungry? Who was attempting to retrieve you objective? Why where they trying to stop you?"She was scared but she knew she had to stay calm to show that she was no threat to her. -Dances-

Harry Richard

Harry put a hand on Annie's shoulder. "Stop. Talking." He interrupted her through grit teeth. Then, he addressed the girl in the center of the room directly. "If you want us to stay back, you're going to need to tell us why. You can't expect a stranger to listen to you if he doesn't know why he should. Why are you after that coffin, what are you doing to it, and who is your competition? Tell us that, and there doesn't need to be a fight."

He deliberately spoke in a tone similar to the girl - not particularly demanding, but not without conviction. She seemed like the sort of person who would either only give worthwhile answers to specific questions, or remain deliberately vague no matter what was asked. Either way, it was worth a shot.

“A’roit.” Rory didn’t bother approaching the magical swords.

Elizabeth noticed Elyssia drop her flashlight. Elizabeth's shoulders rose, expecting something bad to happen. Thus far, nothing did.

Harry put a hand on Annie’s shoulder to get her attention, and then spoke to the thirteen-year-old.

“Ey, Annie, oi t’ink ya should get me a glass o water n’ a chicken leg pretty quick. An’ while yer at it, fetch me a smoke, too,” Rory said softly and gently, as if talking to a small dog.

“Okay, stay back...I can do that,” Elizabeth whispered to herself, then leaned against the wall next to the entrance and crossed her arms. She wanted to stay as far as possible from those blades and bodies. Hopefully, she didn’t accidentally trigger some sort of ancient trap or something.

Annie felt angry that Harry told her to stop talking. She wanted to argue about it but decided not to and she understood why he said that to her so, nodded to Harry. She stood there quiet and listen what the thirteen girl had to say.

Then she heard what Rory said to her as she stood next to Harry quietly. She really wanted to smack him for saying it and treating her like a dog. She said to him,"Get it yourself! I am not your servant and not your dog!"

Elyssia

Elyssia gave the writer a weak and wordless smile as she joined the peanut gallery.

Everyone seemed a little on edge, which made Elyssia a little anxious too. Well, everyone except Annie, who seemed loudly advocate the young lady while she rambled questions at her one after the other. Elyssia couldn't help but admire her nerve in such a palpable atmosphere.

With little cause to interject or compete for the right to speak, she could only cross her arms and continue to hope for the best.

The conflicts of the group were not helping matters, nor was the insistence of a certain young girl trying to prove she was as 'skilled' or 'brave' as the rest. Isaac's warnings were disregarded in their entirety, Annie slipping under his arm and starting to approach seemingly without sensing the atmosphere. Goddess, this kid was going to get herself killed...

Luckily it did not come to that. The mysterious girl at the altar simply told them to stay back, answered Isaac's and then Lias' questions, then proceeded to more solidly warn Annie to stay back. The rattling of the swords on the ground a clear indicator that approaching would not be wise, the quiet mention of floating swords from the author behind him giving a clear suggestion as to why that might be. Thankfully Annie backed up, but didn't see fit to stop talking - spouting whatever seemed to come to mind.

Harry's takeover was very much welcomed. Had he not done so, Isaac would have.

" On top of that, just who are you? " He added after Harry finished speaking, pointedly ignoring the conflict that had arisen between Rory and Annie. Not that the way the gunslinger had spoke to the kid was anything good, but Annie shouting back in a tense situation like this didn't help her earlier arguments.
