Although she seemed to be keeping it in control rather well, the look in her eyes made it clear that saying she was angry was an understatement.

Although the author had started to say something before they entered, the timing right after Harry’s statement indicating that it was meant to be a response to that, she had stopped when it was clear how bad it was inside. While it didn’t look like she was unable to handle it, she looked a bit sad when her gaze went to the bodies. This went along with the words she spoke quietly, “
Why does everyone feel the need to kill each other?

Once they had reached the hallway with both staircases, Lias nodded to Isaac with the words, “
Hurry. I don’t understand this, and it’s worrying me.

Isaac and Harry’s investigation of the tower would yield a disappointingly small amount of information. They found only three more bodies, and while they were not wearing any uniforms it was pretty clear by their casual clothing that they had been soldiers posted here. Two were sprawled across on the floor in positions that indicated they had at least been on their feet and trying to fight, while the third was still in bed, presumably asleep at the time. Their injuries were what they would expect at this point; various weapons used by whoever had attacked.

There was very little in the two floors of the tower apart from the bodies that would indicate anything. They were clearly the sleeping quarters, and the second of the floors also had about half of it separated into what looked like a captain’s quarters. A quick inspection of that would give nothing interesting either, save for a troop record that indicated there were eight men stationed here, not including the commanding officer. Everything else was normal military stuff, and there was nothing indicating anything of importance.

Nothing would have happened downstairs in the time that it took them to search the tower, and so once they returned everyone could begin to proceed down the stairs leading below. Unlike the tower’s stairs, these ones did not just descend one floor; instead, they seemed to go down for several. The area was lit, and by the same type of lights as the rest of the barracks interior, although they were spread out enough that there were points of darkness on the way down.

The staircase itself was spiral in shape, and before it had cleared one full rotation the group would come upon two more bodies. Both were Tias military, and from the bloodstains it looked like they had slid down the stairs a bit after being killed. After them, though, there were no more bodies for nearly five rotations, and when they came upon the next one they would also come upon the end of the staircase.

It was just before the end of the last turn that Isaac or Harry, whichever would be in the lead at that point, would realize that the stair under their foot was a bit slick. As this part of the turn was in the dark, they wouldn’t be able to immediately see what it was, but when the light came from the room that they were approaching it would be clear that what they were stepping in was blood. If this hadn’t already been on their mind, the bodies spread around the entrance to the room would be a clear enough indication. Apart from one that was still lying partially on the end of the steps - and who appeared to be the source of the blood they were stepping in - there were nine more lying in a rather large pool of blood right around the entrance to the room. All of them appeared to be killed by a great deal of slashing and stabbing injuries. All of them were dressed in unmarked combat uniforms; there were no Tias soldiers here.

The room that the staircase opened into was reasonably sized, approximately twenty feet high with an equal radius. It was circular in shape, and from what could be seen from the door there was only the one entrance. The room itself was bare save for what looked like some kind of altar in the center, although it was brightly illuminated by several light fixtures on the walls and ceiling.

It was by the altar that the presumed source of the death for the soldiers could be found. A young girl, from her height looking to be no more than thirteen years old, stood in front of the altar, eight swords lying on the ground around her. All of the swords had blood on them, further supporting the theory that she was the reason these men had died. Another sword was sheathed on her left hip. She wore a silver bodysuit that had shining blue lines networked to several circular node areas on various parts of the body, and the suit seemed to include boots and gloves. Only her head was uncovered, and since her back was currently to the staircase all that could really be seen for features was that she had shoulder-length white hair.

On the altar was what looked like a sarcophagus of some kind. It was black in color, and there did not appear to be any markings on it. It was large, however, stretching over halfway up towards the ceiling. It was standing upright, and had a great number of wires attached to it. These wires descended into the altar, but looked like they ran to a pedestal in front of the girl. She was currently working on it, although given the distance from the group and the fact that she was blocking their view of it they couldn’t tell what she was doing.

At the moment, it looked as though everyone was still undetected by whoever was in there. Nobody except the girl could be seen, and it looked like there wasn’t really anywhere someone could hide for an ambush.

Elyssia

“Y-yes.” She replied weakly.

Elyssia felt like she were being evaluated by the group, and couldn’t help but lower her head in embarrassment. Her eyes widened at the man’s sudden outburst, her torch trembling in her hands. Inhaling a deep breath, she hazarded a look at the man only to realize the scolding wasn’t for her.

The groups vetting process wasn’t very difficult it seemed, for it didn’t take long for everyone to return to business… whatever that business happened to be. Having missed most of the conversation, everything seemed to fly over Elyssia's head. Perhaps this showed as her vacant glance trailed about from speaker to speaker.

Annie jumped when Isaac talked to her about her finger on the trigger. She quickly took her finger off the trigger. She said in a scared voice," I am sorry about that. My father taught me before my town was attacked. I know better then that of my finger on the trigger. My father would have smacked me for that." She let Isaac pushed her pistol down.

Then she followed the group ready to fight if needed to. She stayed closed to Harry even though he don't think it's safe for her to go. She felt excited and nervous at the same time.

After they went into the place, she saw a lot of dead people. She didn't understand why people would do this. She agreed what Lias about doing this quickly. She saw more dead men and then she saw a 13 year old girl just standing at the alter. All she wanted to run up to her and comfort her.

After a slight outburst of Annie’s risky habits, she and Elyssia appeared a little shaken. Elizabeth slightly jumped, and Rory snickered.

“Watch her, she bites!” Rory teased, regarding Annie.

Regarding the mysterious nature of the situation, things got underway, and everyone entered the building. Harry’s displeasure of things probably ended, as Rory rendezvoused with them at the barracks. Rory, having nothing to do, and concluding that there was no risk, watched everyone’s backs, Elizabeth doing what she could, which wasn’t much. Nothing happened, so Rory holstered his revolver.

Harry warned of bodies. Elizabeth grimaced and covered her mouth, but Rory appeared to stomach the sights easily enough.

“Dey didn’t stand much ov a change, eh?” Rory remarked, observing the carnage.

“No kidding,” Elizabeth said, then looked at Elyssia, "hope you can handle all of this. I sure don't think I can much longer."

Further down the helical stairwell, more bodies, and blood. The next location was quite bloody, as if a medieval force killed a score of men.

“Ugh...I don’t wanna see any more of this…” Elizabeth complained, lips parting but teeth clenched.

Curiously enough, yet another mysterious girl was the sole survivor, with a number of swords at her disposal.

“Ey! Wha de foohk are ya doin’?”

Annie rolled her eyes to Rory comment about her. She felt really sick of all these dead bodies around her. She looked at the thirteen year old girl and lowered her pistol and said to her,”We won’t hurt you. I am the age as you. My name is Annie. What is your name?” As she walked closer to the young girl. -Dances-

Though it came as no surprise Isaac still felt a shred of sadness upon finding the bodies within the tower, his and Harry's sweep finding them little else but a mention of how many soldiers had been stationed here. They returned to the group and made their way to the final location - the basement.

" Outposts don't normally need to dig in this deep... " He muttered during the descent, finding the extended spiral staircase to be more than a little bit unusual. With a growing sense of dread in the pit of his stomach he kept his rifle raised, winding their way down until a gentle wet slap underfoot made him pause - sparing a look down to find not water, but more blood. A few more steps and the source was revealed, Isaac's eyes widening with surprise.

Ten bodies belonging to the unknown attackers. All slashed, stabbed or otherwise cut down by some kind of blade - and it didn't take much of a look to presume it was the same type of weapon that had killed them all. The room itself came to his gaze next, circular, no apparent entrances aside from the staircase... But the marvel of the room was the massive sarcophagus that stood in the centre, as if surveying its throne room.

But most of all there was the girl that stood before it, doing something they could not see. It didn't matter what it was, not to Isaac, because he could feel something far more alarming.

Any hopes of surprise were gone when Rory called out, Annie immediately following by speaking up and attempting to move closer. She didn't get far - Isaac's arm outstretched in front of her, blocking her from going past where he stood a few steps from the stairs. Perhaps at first glance he might have appeared overly cautious, but looking at him made something very obvious - he was tense, far, far more tense than he had been up until now. In his other hand was his rifle, which he slowly set down on the ground by his feet, eyes never leaving the teenage girl at the altar.

" Be more worried about her hurting us, kid, " He said, his tone quiet - a hint of fear palpable. His now free hand reached back and pulled his sheathed sword from its place on his back, bringing it around in front of himself - still sheathed - albeit holding one hand on its handle and the other on the sheath itself.

Isaac wasn't surprised if some of the others couldn't feel it. Many couldn't until it was shown in full, but he could feel it - that strength, far beyond him, far beyond the others, and far beyond that soldier captain back at the tavern.

" I'm telling you all right now, if that girl wants to fight us - you run. She's not a fight that we can win. " Despite his words he kept hold of his sheathed sword, apparently believing that his rifle wouldn't be of any use. It wasn't clear if this girl would be interested in talking or not, but talking had a much higher chance of them living through the day. He stepped forwards, ahead of the group, but didn't get too close - those behind him might realize that he was making himself the most immediate target, should something happen.

" You killed these attackers, didn't you? " While there was a question mark it wasn't a real question, he already knew the answer. " Why? "

Harry Richard

Harry's brow furrowed in confusion as they descended the staircase. Indeed, outposts did not need to dig this deep, so this was not a regular outpost. His conspiracy theory was already beginning to crack.

That said, thank the Goddess he hadn't proceeded any further.

Eventually they made it to the bottom... and what they saw was.... what?

Why was there a sarcophagus down here? Why did so many people die to protect it? Why there a girl with bloodstained swords?

None of this made any sort of sense, to be honest. Alas, there was no choice but roll with it. One thing that did come across as strange was the fact that, the girl was clearly the cause of all the deaths in this room. But all the bodies here were of the mysterious attackers, which meant she had to be representing a third party.

As he contemplated a plan, their stealth was immediately blown as the revolver-wielding loudmouth immediately shouted out, while the younger girl attempted a diplomatic approach and walked closer. Harry immediately attempted to seize Annie by the back of her shirt and pull her back behind him. If it came to a fight he didn't want the kid blocking his shot.

Isaac made his own attempt at negotiating, and with three people attempting radically different approaches there was no need to add a fourth. "Writer," Harry spoke up, clearly referring to their unwilling companion, though he did not keep his eyes off the teenager in the center of the room, "didn't you say something about a girl with a lot of swords?"
