×Chapter 22×
×Aftermath×
Adam’s skull felt like it had been filled with carpenters nails, his eyes wouldn’t focus, and his extremities felt like they were burning. Spots of light flashed in his vision, it felt like he had been kicked in the head.
“You fool, stop getting yourself hurt,” a female voice spoke from somewhere at Adam’s side.
“Wha—where am I?” Adam asked, not caring who it was that was next to him.
A tan face peered down at him, long dark hair ran down the woman’s back and there was some kind of white cap on her head.
“This is going to hurt a bit."
"What do you mean? Ahh!” Adam’s torso began to burn and he jerked his head up to look at his chest, there was a shallow cut on his abdomen with blood slowly seeping from it.
“Lay back Adam, you idiot, I’m trying to help and you aren’t making it easy.”
“Who are you? How do you know my name?” Adam questioned the person attending to his wounds.
“It’s Surgeon General Tafini, Adam,” John’s voice came from close by, Adam shifted his head and saw the silhouette his friend, barely able to make out the blurred features.
“How…did I get here?” Adam said, his mouth was dry and bitter.
“Adam, really? I’m a bounty hunter, you wouldn’t wake up to resuscitate Rachel, so I used some of her runes to teleport. You need to know magic when you do what I do.”
“But, the closest place you could teleport is,” Adam paused and coughed, “Lumbridge. How did you get me to the Dueling Arena from there?”
“Not just you Adam,” John pointed to the other side of Adam.
Adam turned his head and did*’t even need to think about who it was laying next to him, “Rachel.” Adam attempted to roll over to grab her hand but John restrained him.
“Stay still Adam, you should know what’s wrong with you before you try to do anything,” John gestured to Surgeon General Tafini who pulled out a clipboard with a piece of papyrus on it.

“Says here you came in with a very high fever, some of your muscles are torn, and you had a concussion.”
Adam did*’t care how injured he was, he would live, “How’s Rachel?”
“Umm, let’s see,” Surgeon General Tafini said as she scanned her charts, “Says here she was unconscious when she came in, and was in shock because of an oxygen deficiency.”
“No, I mean how is she now?" Adam wanted to know if she was alright now, not how she was doing earlier.
“Oh, well she’s just sleeping, we used some air runes to get her oxygen levels back to normal.”
“As long as she’s fine, so am I,” Adam said, feeling relieved that Rachel wasn’t in any serious danger. “Now John, how did you get us here from Lumbridge?"
"I carried you and ran. Vampire, Adam, remember?”
“Yeah, sorry John. Who was that guy I killed?”
“Lord Drakan, my father, the ruler of Morytania.”
Adam did not know he had killed John’s father, “I’m sorry John, I did*’t know he was your father.”
“I don’t really care that he’s dead Adam, I hated him anyways. But…”
“What, John?”
“What are you Adam? You certainly aren’t just a regular human.”
“I have a story to tell you John…” Adam turned to face John and started telling the story of his birth, his life, and his soul.

×Chapter 23×
×In Motion×
A lone figure stood motionless on top of a forsaken hill in the Wilderness. Smoke billowed from vents of lava, the acrid fumes choking any life that wished to thrive on the blackened landscape. A smirk of purest joy and fulfillment alighted the pale lips of the figure. He was looking to the south, staring directly at the northernmost wall of Varrock, the palace rising above the towering battlements and reaching up to the sky. He looked further west and saw the mountains, capped in snow, beyond them lying Rellekka and Asgarnia.
“Very soon, I will find myself. Very soon, all of this will burn.”
The twisted Mahjarrat stood atop the hill, plotting the end of Gielinor. While he stood there, looking off into the distance, imagining the sweet warmth of the flames using the land as their kindling, the setting sun glinted off of a very polished ring with a carved ruby set in it. As he clasped his hands together shadows gathered on the ring, revealing the chiseled shape of demon horns.
