“The Mahjarrat were created by Zaros long ago. At the same time, Seren created the elves. I took a handful of the elves and modified them into mortals.”
“Yes, I know that,” Moia interrupted hastily.
“But did you know that Seren and Zaros used to be united as one?” This time Moia showed a sign of surprise.
“...and did you also know that I was their child?” Moia jumped back a little upon hearing this. This was incredibly shocking news to her, as it would be to anyone.
“But...” Moia started, “but they’re not together anymore, right?”
“Unfortunately, that is correct,” Guthix replied, “They separated long ago; long before the plane of Gielnor was even created.”
“Interesting,” Moia remarked, “But where do I come into all of this?”
Guthix looked at her hopefully as he said, “You are half-human and half-Mahjarrat. Half of you is a creation of Seren, while the other a creation of Zaros. Besides me, you are the only one on this plane, and very possibly in the universe, who connects my mother and father.”
“You have a purpose, Moia; a purpose far greater than anyone would have seen. Don’t honour your father, who rejected you, or your mother, who abandoned you. Come with me, for my parents are yours too. I may be a god, but I don’t have the power to reconcile them; you, the product of their creations, do. It is something I have yearned to see since before the First Age.”
It was at this point Moia remembered the last time she was asked into serving a purpose – when she found Bilrach. Bilrach almost betrayed her at one point, and he paid dearly for it.
But this was different. Bilrach was just after power, but this cause of reconciliation...it felt somewhat divine. Maybe she had a purpose after all.
