“You did not go anywhere,” the Divine Skinweaver continued, “You just stepped on the pads, there was a click, and then the door unlocked.”

“That was undoubtedly the most interesting experience I have ever had!” Dionysius exclaimed, “and trust me, I have had quite a lot of experiences.”

“Adventurer...?” Thok asked, still puzzled, “You are starting to scare Thok.”

“Well err...nevermind,” Fin remarked, “Let’s just get to the end of this before it collapses.”

“Agreed,” Kuradal added.

Suddenly, Fin could hear a clunk coming from within his backpack. It was now considerably heavier. Ash, Keith, Kuradal and Dionysius must have felt the same thing too, for they started reaching into their backpacks.

Ash and Kuradal pulled out identical swords which were mostly black but glowing with eerie blue hues along the side of their blades. Fin and Keith reached into their backpacks and found two bows of the same design. Dionysius wasn’t surprised to find a staff in his.

*What are these...and how did they get here?” Fin asked. Nobody knew. The weapons themselves were quite warm, on the brink of being uncomfortably hot.

“How mysterious,” Kuradal remarked, “Are they safe to use?”

But Keith was way ahead of her. He was already holding the mysterious bow with one hand and grabbed the bowstring with the other. Upon contact, a bright, blazing arrow started to form on its own. The further he pulled the string back, the more defined it became. At the same time, the bow seemed to make a whirring noise that went louder and higher as the string was pulled back. Keith quickly aimed at the far wall when the string and pitch had reached their maximum. He released the string, which launched the blazing arrow with a graceful ‘swish’. But nothing was graceful about what happened then the arrow reached the wall.

First, the arrow just penetrated the solid wall and went almost all the way through. Only the tail was visible. That was quite scary enough to begin with, but then not even a split-second later, it detonated, bringing most of the side of the room down and leaving a gigantic hole in its wake.

The group stared in awe. “No weapon in all of Gielnor is near this magnitude of power,” Kuradal remarked. “Not even the Godsword,” Dionysius added. Keith stumbled a little. The team looked at him puzzled. He seemed to be injured but in no visible way. “The weapon must have done that to him!” the Divine Skinweaver exclaimed, sensing an internal injury and healing it immediately. Keith was back up again immediately.

“I don’t really understand it,” she continued, “but it damaged him on a really small scale. Weapons with so much power can only be expected to do that...which reminds me, Thok bloodrager...”

Thok looked at her as she took his sword out of his hand for a while. She faced no resistance. Running her hand across the flat side of the blade, she seemed to imbue it with some form of magical energy. She then passed it back to him saying, “I’ve enchanted your sword so that it will do more damage,” to which Thok replied, “Yes! Thok likes more damage. Heh heh heh... Pretty Lass is so kind.”

But before Thok could go back completely into his trance, the ceiling started to come down on them. Understandably, removing one side of the entire wall was not too good for ceiling. So the team rushed off again, opening the door into the next room. The next room was completely empty, with the exception of a thin, translucent wall of white light. It hummed with gentle warmth in its tone, but it was undoubtedly powerful.

Ash, being the naturally curious one, put her arm through the wall of light. On the other side, her hand was jet black and running with glowing blue lines. It looked exactly like the other walls of the room. “Eek!” the Divine Skinweaver screamed. Fin and Kuradal looked petrified.

“Wow, relax guys,” Ash said, hanging her eyes. She pulled her hand back and it returned to normal as it crossed the wall of light. “It only went over my arm.”

“What was...it?” Keith asked, with special emphasis on the ‘it’.

“Well...” Ash replied, but then decided that the best way to answer that would be to show them instead. She leaped straight through the wall of light. As her body passed through the wall, it was once again covered in black with blue glowing lines. Lending gracefully on the other side, Ash turned around to reveal what it really was.

“It looks like some sort of suit,” Dionysius remarked, “It’s pulsating with a strange type of energy, too.”

“Well whatever it is, it’s extremely stylish,” Ash commented, in a happy voice, “I’m not even in the mood to care about where all my other binds went.”

“I’m inclined to agree,” replied Keith, as he walked through the wall. Suited up, he looked at himself and joyously remarked, “Finally! Something that looks good on men as well.”

Fin knew exactly what Keith was talking about, and so with Dionysius and Kuradal, he walked through the wall of light and appeared majestically on the other side. “I’m starting to like this,” he said.

Thok seemed slightly disgusted as he said, “Armour? Thok no need armour.” Thok then walked through the wall, which as if hearing his remark, left him untouched. Thok was slightly surprised, but somewhat happy. The Divine Skinweaver passed through with no changes made to her either.

“I’m starting to feel much more energetic,” Dionysius remarked, “It’s just like when I was a young man. I think I’ll call this an Energy Suit.”

“Pah! Armour?” Thok scoffed, “Thok gets his energy from strength and might!”

“If you all don’t mind,” Fin interrupted, rather annoyed, “we don’t exactly have ample time to reach the end.”

With that, he opened the next door. The team, fuelled by the mysterious Energy
Suits, half ran into the room. They were met by no other than Icy Bones, the gigantic troll who was over fifty floors out of place. Dionysius was the first to strike. Feeling younger than ever, Dionysius held his strange staff high in the air. It seemed to respond by glowing brighter and sending a surge of energy through his body. He aimed his other hand steadily at Icy Bones. Then, using his mind, he discharged the magical energy within him through his hand. A powerful blast of lightning came from it, striking Icy Bones with countless amounts of energy which left him paralysed. At the same time, the magical energy ripped open a vortex beneath the creature’s feet, sucking the helpless, paralysed troll into it. The vortex closed soon afterward, and Icy Bones was long gone. A ‘click’ sound was heard as the only other door in the room was unlocked.

Dionysius looked at his staff and then himself in amazement. Soon, he realised that he wasn’t the only one. Thok rubbed his eyes. He did*’t even get the chance to attack. “If only Zenny saw that,” Dionysius joked, “she wouldn’t dare call me a ‘goody two-shoes’ again.”

The team hurried into the next room to find Astea Frostweb, who was praying a protection prayer against ranged attacks. “Boss after boss?” Keith asked, but Fin had already taken aim and fired directly at her. As she had her prayers active, the arrow simply bounced off her and landed flat on the ground below her. She looked back up at Fin and prepared to attack, and then the arrow detonated with a nuclear force that sent her flying to the back wall. She hit the wall with her arms and legs wide open, seemed to stay there for a while, and then slowly slid down to the floor. Another ‘click’ was heard and the next door was unlocked.

The Gluttonous Behemoth attacked the team from the next room. As soon as they entered, both Fin and Keith fired a shot each while Dionysius discharged another lightning bolt and summoned another vortex. The arrows detonated soon after with a flash, and when the team looked back again, the behemoth was gone. It effectively disintegrated.

"I don’t even want to know what just happened,” Kuradal commented as they made their way into the next room containing the Luminescent Icefiend. Ash and Kuradal charged ahead with this one with their swords. They sliced through it like butter, and the Icefiend started to melt due to the extreme heat of their weapons.

Suddenly, it crouched down and encased itself in ice. Not expecting the Icefiend to survive the first hit, nobody except Thok and the Divine Skinweaver remembered to dodge the icicles. Seeing them just in time to cover their heads with their arms, the team took a rain of icicles which merely seemed to bounce off them.

“Strange...” Dionysius yelled, “I remember that these things should hurt a lot more.”

“It seems that these suits do more than just make you feel young,” Fin yelled in response.

At this point, Thok yelled “Enough of this!” and thrust his forehead straight into the ice casing, shattering it. Immediately afterward, he struck the Icefiend with his sword, defeating it and unlocking the doors. “This is going to be fun,” Ash said.

The team had quite a good assumption on which boss was coming up next, so Kuradal, Ash and Dionysius let Fin and Keith charge ahead. In the next room, two explosions were heard. Plane-freezer Lakhrahnaz was an unrecognisable heap in the centre of the room by the time the rest walked in, and the next door was unlocked.
To’Kash the Bloodchiller was no match for the lightning vortex. It was at this point Thok yelled, “Oi! Leave some for Thok!”

“Alright, Thok,” Fin replied, laughing, “You can kill whatever’s in the next room.”

“Finally!” Thok cheered, as he charged through the next door, with the Divine Skinweaver following close behind him. The next thing the team heard was Thok cursing silently to himself. As they entered the room, they realised it was already empty to begin with, but it was far from an unfamiliar sight. Five pressure pads were in exactly the same arrangement as they were a few rooms ago. The team wasted no time in occupying them. Taking a deep breath, Fin stepped on the last one.

The expected flash of white light came. This time, the space surrounding them was not pitch black, but filled with stars and planets. Fin could make out three distinct entities close-by. One was the figure of a woman, barely visible as white light blazed from within her. She was with the figure of a boy, blazing with green. From the looks of it, he seemed barely over the age of ten.

A feminine-like voice suddenly filled Fin’s ears. It was musical; somewhat melodious, but it spoke hateful words, “Your mind is far too occupied with war, that you fail to see the benefits of peace and balance.”

Dionysius came up behind Fin and whispered, “That must be Seren.”

She seemed to be talking to another entity, quite a distance away. Fin strained his eyes to see another figure glowing in a mix of purple and fiery red. “Your quest for peace will make you weak,” it said in a deep, booming voice. “Zaros...” Dionysius whispered.

“We shall see,* the white figure replied, “Come, Guthix.”

The white and green figures, seemingly inseparable, blasted off into the infinite space. The purple one stayed still for a while, but soon enough, blasted off in a separate direction. As the scene ended, the team’s surroundings returned to normal as the next door was unlocked. Thok was still cursing under his breath.

Following the chain of bosses, the team brought down the Hobgoblin Geomancer, the Bulwark Beast, the Skeletal horde and the Unholy cursebearer, inflicting unimaginable amounts of damage with their mysterious weapons and brushing off countless hits with the strange Energy Suits.

Soon enough, they reached another ‘Flashback Room’, which was a term Fin coined up. Excited to see what was next, they jumped on the pads. After the flash of light, Fin found himself on some sort of land. The terrain was highly uninviting, as red, jagged rocks pierced into the sky, disappearing into the black clouds above. Strange humanoids roamed this terrain, either by themselves or in pairs. Whenever one met another they did not know, they blasted each other with powerful combat magic. It was an amazingly disturbing sight. Fin looked to see the figure blazing in purple in the distance. Zaros, standing on a high cliff, had his head tilted upwards, as if communicating with a higher power.

Then, a booming voice came from all around. It was even more powerful that Zaros’. Fin listened carefully as it said, “Your Mahjarrat creations have brought nothing but destruction to this plane of Freneskae. My Dragonkin and I are leaving!” The source of the voice was unknown, as it seemed to come from everywhere at once. Then, it faded off while thousands of dragon-like creatures took off into the skies.

Zaros, in a fit of frustration, soon followed suit and took off. Dionysius came up again and whispered, “It looks like he abandoned his own creations.” Another flash of light, and the team was back in the room.

Within the next room was Lexicus Runewright. “This man...” Thok started, “proves that books are bad for Thok.” The team laughed, though they knew he was being serious. Several bosses later, they reached another Flashback Room. They knew the drill.

The next scene was a grassy land. Trees grew freely while birds and butterflies fluttered around an endless bed of flowers. Gentle streams with crystal clear water flowed steadily, bending around the small boulders that blocked their paths. Fin could make out three figures in a clearing, but these figures did not look divine. In fact, they looked just like mortals. One of them was a woman in a white cloak. Her face was hidden. The other was a man, probably, in a black cloak. His face, too, was hidden from view. They were facing away from him. But the last one, a man in a green cloak, was facing them. Fin could make out the features slightly. It was a young man, probably in his late twenties. “Don’t be fooled,” Dionysius whispered again, “They are not mortals at all.”

“Welcome, my creations, to the plane of Gielnor!” the grey man said, “Seren, your creations, elves are welcome here anytime. I look forward to seeing them. Guthix, so are your humans. The other two bowed with gratitude, and began to take their leave. “Wait!” the grey figure exclaimed, “Guthix, I want you to have this.” Waving his hands slightly, the grey man shaped a large, spherical stone out of thin air, which floated several inches above the ground, but never touched it. “The Stone of Jas...” Fin thought to himself. “It will let you unlock the full potential of this world,” the man continued, “Keep it well.” Then, the scene ended.

As the team fought their way through the next few boss rooms, they started discussing what they saw, letting Thok handle most of the work. He was more than happy to.

“So let me get this straight...” Ash started, “First there was an explosion; then came Jas.”

“Right,” Dionysius affirmed, “and then Jas created Zaros and Seren...”

“Who had a child named Guthix?” Kuradal completed for him.

Keith continued, “Then for quite obvious reasons, Zaros and Seren *id*’t get along.”

“So they split up,” Fin went, nodding his head, “and Guthix followed Seren.”

“What they talking about?” Thok asked the Divine Skinweaver, who simply shrugged as Thok casually lobbed off a head.

“Jas went on to create the plane of Freneskae and the Dragonkin,” Dionysius added, to which Ash completed, “then Zaros moved in with his Mahjarrat.”

“...and in the meantime, Seren created the elves, while Guthix created the humans,” Fin continued.

“Wait, that can’t be!” Keith rebuked, “Guthix said he did not create the humans. He did not have the power to.”

“No, he did not,* Kuradal replied, “but I bet my bottom that he made mortals by modifying the elves. No slayer masters assign elves as a task, for they resemble humans far too closely.”

“Then at some point in time,” Fin continued, “Jas gets fed up of Zaros’ Mahjarrat and leaves to create the plane of Gielnor.”

“Zaros leaves soon after,” Ash added, “and the Mahjarrat are left without a ruler.”
Dionysius continued, “According to our current lore, Guthix discovered Gielnor, and Seren came soon after. Jas must have known of their presence and gave Guthix the stone as a gift.”

“Thok still no understand!” He was mostly ignored. “Just keep killing everything, Thok,” Fin replied. That was good enough for Thok.

“...and from what we know,” Kuradal continued, “Seren eventually brought the elves here through the World Gate, and Guthix brought the mortals through the Portal of Life.”

“But Jas gave the stone to Guthix for him to safe keep,” Fin added, slightly confused, “So why did he go into his slumber at the end of the First Age and what happened to it then?”

“I guess we’re about to find out,” Dionysius replied, for they finally reached another Flashback Room.

This room was slightly different, however, as the tiles were lined up neatly against the wall, instead of being at the centre. As the five adventurers took their places on the pads, no bright flash of light occurred, but instead, the centre of the room lit up as an object, made entirely out of light, started to form above the ground. This time, Thok and the Divine Skinweaver could see it too, and they jumped back in amazement.

“What that?” Thok asked hastily. The spherical shape of the image suggested that it was the Stone of Jas. “This will be interesting,” Dionysius remarked.
