Chapter 6

When I awoke, the sun was shining brightly, and the air was full of life. Birds sang, bugs buzzed, rivers ran, unicorns neighed, wind blew- Unicorns?
As my eyes adjusted to the light I noticed them: a group of four unicorns around me. When they saw I was alive one of them neighed, and they all headed off. I sat up and found myself in a pile of ashes, the memories of the Malevolent One’s attack flooding back to me.

Next to me lay the body of the Malevolent One, his blood red armor stained black with ash. His dead hands yet grasped a knife, as if his corpse was ready to stab anyone who got too close.

The great Zamorakian general, the man of no fear, the unloving, undying killing machine, had been felled by a burning building. Who was I to survive that? I realized that the unicorns had saved me. My Lord was still with me, I knew it.
Salvaging Current from the ash, it became evident that the blade was made out of no ordinary steel. I washed the soot from it in the river Lum, and it was its normal shining green self again in no time.

Sighing, I sheathed the blade and looked into the air. The sky was eerily empty, though it still crackled with red lightning. That surely wasn’t natural, but then again, what was natural anymore?

I set off on the road to Falador, knowing that the Saradominists there would give me shelter. But there was no shelter to be found. Despite the Guthixians’ efforts, the city had been overrun by goblinkin.

After an hour or so my feet brought me to the city of Taverly, still smoking. Not much had survived the goblins’ march through the town on their way to Falador.
However, the stone circle yet stood, and at it were what was left of the druids. They ushered me into their prayer circle, and we paid our respects to our lost god.

(( I figured it was about time for an update :p ))

Chapter 6 Part 2

In the distant south, sands blew across the empty skies above the desert city of Sophanem. The air began to distort with magical hues of blue and purple before an arcane shockwave blew through part of the town, kicking up bricks and sand with a powerful BOOM. The magical surge landed on top of one of the city’s pyramids, carrying with it a pair of Mahjarrat. The skeletal beings looked around the city curiously from their perch.
“It feels strange, being here again.”Hazeel noted, having not stepped in the desert city for over a thousand years.
“I imagine relations between you and the God of the Dead are a bit… Strained.” Khazard said with a grin.
“Indeed. Zamorak would’ve sent you alone on this mission, but you would’ve messed it up.”Hazeel teased as he followed Khazard down the side of the pyramid. The mahjarrat made their way through the city, the crowds parting as they passed. The Zamorakians came to a stop before the largest pyramid in the city, and Hazeel slammed his staff into the ground. The ground shook a bit, and a cloud of sand was kicked up that quickly settled. With a prolonged flash of dull, green light, a brightly decorated jackal emerged.
“Well. It looks like the Stern Judges have returned.” Icthlarin spoke, crossing his arms.
“We come here seeking alliance.” Khazard declared. Icthlarin nodded thoughtfully, putting a hand on his chin as if deep in thought.
“You wish to form allies to protect yourself from Zaros, correct? I guess working for him did*’t turn out so well.” Icthlarin snarled.
“Zaros is hardly a threat without the mahjarrat by his side.” Hazeel spat. “We only wish for an alliance to repay you for bringing us to Gielinor.”
“Is that what you think of me?” Khazard looked around, searching for the source of the voice. It was disembodied, and seemed to have been projected across the entire sky. The words were not loud though. Their volume remained constant and casual, and Khazard shifted with unease.

The ground began to shake violently, and the townsfolk of Sophanem cried out as they retreated into their homes. Several large, green insects emerged from the sand. They were followed by more and more vicious bugs, each larger than the rest. Soon the kalphites occupied the entire city, surrounding the mahjarrat and Icthlarin.
Hazeel fired a ball of bloodfire into the sea of kalphites, incinerating them. Their loss was less than insignificant though, as their place was almost immediately taken up by the flood of kalphites. Khazard swung his blade at the bugs, cutting through their chitin and spraying purple blood across his clothes, but this proved entirely ineffective in stopping or even slowing their advance.
Icthlarin held his staff aloft, and it pulsed with golden energy. He swiped it before him, and a surge of godly power poured from it, blasting back even the largest scarabs from before him. Hazeel and Khazard meant to turn their attention to the remaining insects, but were distracted, and rightfully so. The main pyramid exploded, blasting sand and bricks through the entire city. Out from under the tomb emerged a twelve foot tall, orange kalphite. It snapped its mandibles together, producing a menacing clack. On the Kalphite King’s shoulder sat a mahjarrat dressed in purple robes: Azzanadra.
