He gritted his teeth and drew his sword slowly. In the sudden silence the scrape of the sword was very loud indeed.
And then, with a shout, he charged the demon for one last, desperate attempt. The demon raised it's terrible claws and with a mighty roar brought them down upon him. It missed, but only barely. The ground shook under the mighty blow and He staggered for a moment, but quickly recovered his footing. He dodged past the demon's second swipe and lowered his sword for a stab. With a desperate cry, he plunged it into the demon's chest, and through it's blackened heart. A bone-chilling howl was heard across the whole of the Wilderness before the demon collapsed, quite dead. He stood by it's corpse for a while before realizing that it's over. He staggered towards the double doors, and into the hallway. The Dark Warriors, fearsome fighters known by all on Gielinor, poked their heads out from doorways and from behind furniture, cautiously observing Him. He stumbled down the hallway, with little care or worry about the warriors. He stood at the gate for a while, gazing out over the Wilderness, hoping to catch a glance of the others.
There was nothing. Just the charred ground and the ashes, with the ocassional dead tree. As he crossed the bridge hanging across the deep, murky moat, he looked down on the dirt and saw a great many footprints. His gaze followed one particular group of footprints leading north. He shrugged, and trudged uneasily and with labored breath along the tracks. North, into the Wilderness.
'Is my mind playing tricks on me?', he wondered aloud, as the vision materialized around him. All around him marched the legions of the damned, adventurers, soldiers and inhabitants who had died violently in these damned lands. His mind feeble from the loss of blood, the demon's corrupting poison and thirst, he fell. As his body hit the ground, he stopped for a moment to stare gloomily at it, before he marched on with them.
Into the realm of the dead.
