At this, the professor unhinged his suitcase with a loud click and opened it.
“Gather round,” he instructed the children, “Our first lesson is due to begin.”
This was met with the clattering of chairs as the children get out of their seats and congregated around the suitcase on the desk. Collectively, they gasped, upon seeing the contents of the suitcase. Most teachers had papers or files inside their suitcases. This one, however, was empty. The bottom of the suitcase, however, was nowhere to be seen. There was only a swirling, endless mist, or a sea; whatever it was captured the children’s imaginations and refused to let go. Soon, they were hypnotized. Subject and object soon lost their meaning. Finally, the children succumbed to the suitcase’s magic, as they were slowly lulled into the strange new world.
PART II:
Tick-tock, tick-tock, the moon’s face – which now resembled a clock – ticked away over the world. A great effervescent sphere over the earth, the moon had no real use, until now, of course, now it served as a giant clock. Transfixed, the boy stood and watched the minutes turn to hours. Expectantly he stood, for his common sense told him the sun would soon appear in the sky. As the hours turned to days, it was evident this was asking for too much.
Moon, where is the sun? Wondered the boy out loud. The moon replied in an indignant voice.
Do you know where you are, boy?
No, the boy replied, quite calmly.
Well then, the irate moon began, I shall have to elucidate. It’s really quite simple. This is the great planet of Guanine. The boy looked perplexed. If this were true, was it possible he was inside DNA, wondered the boy. He decided to follow this theory and continue questioning the moon.
