On the Sharing of Tales

Not all Osgalethans stay on the islands. For many, isolation from the rest of the world brings utter misery. However, leaving the islands is just as dangerous as getting to the Islands. The Ccoral reefs surround Osgalethe on all sides, and the only way through is through the north. This route is very rocky and uncomfortable. it is only feasible to use during the high tide. this natural barrier keeps Osgalethans in as much as it keeps outsiders out. This trap does not deter Osgalethans from leaving the islands. Driven by a sense of adventure, many Osgalethans leave their country to explore a world they have never known. It often gets them into trouble. Which explains the story of this man or rather where he originally came from an elven poet named Agsialtes Afrenius, who is famous throughout the world as a traveler. Afrenius left Osgalethe out of a sense of adventure and landed in a Sorusia port thirty years ago via a bireme when he was twenty. It took 200 Osgas to board. he was the only non crew member on this crammed, and smelly boat -modified for civilian use. the smell of sweat was present throughout the trip, followed by the smell of the waves. more than once Agsialtes became seasick on this minimum 2-3 day trip due to his being unaccustomed to the sea. Arriving in Sorusia seemed so long ago, but he had an old memory he'd dare not tell about how his urge to explore got him in trouble. but that was so long ago, He was now living in the far northwest corner of the empire. he had the urge to go to a place he'd never been before: Skavier. He left his wife, kissed her goodbye. for he was off on adventure. he left his house and headed west. taking him a few hours to get to where he was going

The Meeting

Telperion slumped back into his chair, satisfied with King Horic's response. He glanced across the table at Steffon of the Balan Republic, who was clenching his fists and returning an angry stare. He kept quiet for now. He was fuming inside, but figured nothing would come of calling out the Gnome's disrespect.

Asindia

The diplomat reminded Arishem that many spoke biased falsehoods about the Empire. That was true, and his fellow Councilors nodded in agreement.

"Uniting all of Karrus... That is an ambitious goal indeed. Noble, even." Arishem took a slow drink of water, not touching his wine. Again, the diplomat only told him what everyone already knew, only polishing his words.

"There are many in the Republic that want war. Many are distrustful of the Gnomes and the Dwarves and would love nothing more than for your Empire to crush their kingdoms." Arishem spoke his next words cautiously. "But many are strongly opposed to Sorusian policies. The prohibition of foreign religion, the institution of slavery? Our Republic has outlawed such practices long ago. The one thing all of our people can agree on is that they will not kneel for a foreign emperor."
Ramsay Bolton is the king we deserve.

The Meeting

It is very frustrating when one cannot trust the government he serves. That was why Ardithitine Arden Urzka, Leader of the Osgalethan Eldrancy was in Daralt, and not some Eldrancy diplomat, who would be acting not for Osgalethe, but for greedy men and women who are in government to get rich. Yet Ardithitine was no diplomat. Sitting at the far left of the table, and yet silent, except for giggling at the utter disrespect that Talperion was spewing from his mouth. hardly behavior it for acting on behalf of his country. Ardithitine had arrived in secret, his twin identical twin brother taking his position as head of the Eldrancy as he headed via boat to the meeting. Ardithitine himself wished to ally with Sorusia. But he was acting not for himself, but for his country. And the mood in Osgalethe is that Osgalethe remain neutral in all conflict. Finally Ardithitine had gained enough courage to speak. "Osgalethe must remain neutral in all matters, and much as I see how dire the situation may become, I cannot act against the Eldrancy and ally. My apologies, but It would have to be something very extraordinary to get the Eldrancy to break this tradition, let alone work." Having made his intentions clear, Ardithitine returned to being silent.

The Tanik Forest

S**ik heard the human speak 'Who is watching us?' and stepped from the bushes behind the Betas. He stood at around 9 feet tall, which is short for an Alpha, but he was very board. He was heavily armored, and unlike the others his armor was more uniform. He had bracers, greaves, sabatons, a ****** plate, and a back plate, and were the armor was missing there was thick leather or fur. He had, what looked like, a bear's pelt on his back, and two large skulls; one on each shoulder. It was safe to assume that these skulls strapped to his shoulders were that of the bears he got the fur from. His guantlets had several metal pieces, but down by the fingers there was sharp metal on the fingertips most likely for use in combat.

He approached the huddled Betas and patted on on the head. The group scurried off into the brush. "You have the coin!" He snarled getting closer to the man. Hot air poured from his mouth, and spread quickly. "Look at it long and hard." He said in a much calmer tone. "It is fake. We don't like liars, and we don't like armies." Once again stepping closer to the captain. "The forest is ours and yours, but you don't know how to treat it. If you want to come through here you ask me, and pay me." The rustling trees stopped, and the air went still. Savik was staring at the man, and still breathing hot air onto him.

Tanik Outskirts

Narik had received word of the attack on a northern tribe, and was heading out to bury the bodies. Narik rarely leaves the comfort of his hole, so the whole forest was on the move. The number of scouts tripled, and a large force followed behind Narik. The whole northern section would be covered in a matter of minutes.

"Gather the bodies of the attackers, we will let their people give them a proper good bye." He barked at one of the Alpha's following him, and a group of them split off. "Keep the hurt young blood in the city, and make sure he knows that he fought well." He said pushing another Alpha away. He was close to the battle ground.

Several Betas were digging holes for the few slain Goeraks, and some others were dragging the Gray bodies together. When Narik had arrived, he went around and touched each one of the dead on the head including the Grays. He had seen the dropped weapon, and picked it up with two fingers. "They can make weapons, not just wild animals." He examined it and then slid it into his bracer to keep it tight against his arm.

Skaivier Border

Snow had just started to fall, and the wind was blowing hard. An arrow flew past Agsialtes, and landed in the ground behind him. A stumbling figure approached. "Your not an elk!"He shouted from a distance. "Glad this mead has me right fuzzy or you' be gutted." He started to laugh. As he got closer you could see that he was a burly man, but has a round belly most likely from alcohol.

He was covered in fur, and had a bow in his hands. His sway made the axe on his belt hit against his leg. His breath was putrid, and he breathed heavy and fast. He was staring at the elf; not knowing what to make of it. "You must be tired. It is a bit cold if you follow me ill get ye' back to the village." He swiveled on his feet almost falling to the ground. "This way we go!" He yelled in a sing song voice, and off he went marching towards a village.

Skaivier Border

Agsialtes was nervous. Not just because he had nearly been killed by a drunk hunter, but because of the reputation of the people of this nation for being mistrustful of strangers or outsiders. And here was this same who had nearly killed him, being nice to him- an elf. What was this man's angle? Was he a killer? Was he here to rob him? Maybe assault him, perhaps **** him? But Agsialtes knew that he had been had, and he knew that this hunter was, maybe his best, if not only chance of finding shelter. So out of a desire to survive, he placed his life in the hands of this hunter. Following the hunter, he came upon the first village tavern, where he decided to stay and warm up. Maybe have a drink and that's were we leave the tale for now.

Damas - South Artisans' District

Romek strode down the streets of Damas, passing down the center to stay out of the lanes marked for smaller pedestrians to the side of the road. This was one of the wider main streets, with tame elephants and oxen passing alongside him. A half giant could carry about as much as a horse, so they often favored larger, stronger pack animals. Elephants were brought from the savannah to the south and domesticated long ago. Besides being incredibly strong, their intelligence made them excellent for training, though they were expensive to buy and care for.

Romek walked at a surprisingly brisk pace for his size; though most half giants did. They carried themselves mostly with their momentum, which let them sprint at astonishing speeds; however, it took them time to get up to speed, stop, or turn. Needless to say, it is ill advised to stand in front of a running half giant.

Romek, slowed and turned on to a side street, breaking away from the hustle and bustle of the main streets. Few people walked on this side street, allowing him to walk a little more carelessly. Most citizens avoided this section of the artisans’ district, and for good reason. The men and half giants here did not make art in the form of any common craft. They were inventors and innovators exploring what they called “science”. Twice in the past month a building was set on fire after a violent explosion in one of their studios, but that was quite minor compared to some of the other mishaps. It did*’t take much time living in Damas for people of all races to learn to avoid this district.

Romek proceeded into one of the studios, crouching under the large doors that weren’t quite large enough to accommodate a half giants’ full size. “Saulius,” he spoke to the burly man leaning over a desk covered in drafts. “Yes, Romek?” the human said without breaking from his work.

“You stole credit for my design.”

“Hmm?” Saulius mumbled, walking over to some sort of wooden contraption with levers sticking out from all angles and gears showing through the coverings. “Ah, you mean the water wheel modification. No, no, I did*’t steal credit for that, I… merely wrote an explanation for how and why it works.*

*That’s not what your article seemed to imply. You did*’t mention where the design came from.”

“Romek, I have to say it astounds me that you’re capable of creating something so intriguing without even knowing the fundamentals of how it works. I find it even more mind boggling that you don’t seek the answers to why it works.”

“You’re changing the subject.”

Saulius sighed. He pulled a lever on the large contraption. There was a grinding noise followed by the sound of parts falling out of place. Saulius furrowed his brow and frowned. “I’m just saying, there’s a science behind all the crafts in this city. People seem to understand it some degree, but they don’t get the basics.”

“This has nothing to do with your article on MY design.”

“But it does! You neglected the fundamentals of the design. I took it upon myself to clarify it for you, and that was my work.”

Romek opened his mouth to speak, but he was interrupted by the door opening behind him. Another man came barging in shouting, “Saulius, I need to use your tools!”

Saulius grimaced at the new arrival. “And why exactly do you need them?”

“I finally got another half giant to dissect. Quickly though, the bodies decompose fast.”

Saulius grimaced even more. “Lukas, why haven’t you bought your own tools yet? Surely you can scrape up something for cutting up corpses that would be better than my carpentry and masonry tools.”

Lukas sighed, “Well not all of us can just go out and show off our work like some kind of street show. My crafts tend to be frowned on if I take them outside my studio. And I certainly am not adept at turning dirt to gold like Mantas.”

Saulius scowled at Lukas. “You don’t honestly believe that bull- *ahem*… that exhibition was real, do you?”

“Heck if I know. Look I just really need to use the tools.”

Saulius let out a long sigh, *Fine. Over there.”
