Chapter Eight
Drakos Strikes Again

When Caltha and Willow arrived in the treehouse, Tyron, Iolous, and Ace were poring over a map while Chazz and Termac packed their weapons and armor. Jessica sat in a corner polishing her bow.
"What's going on?" asked Willow. "Are we leaving now?"
She tried to conceal her relief; she had never liked heights.
Tyron raised an eyebrow. Apparently he had heard the relief in her voice.
"Yes. Or have you forgotten that we have to raise an army before Drakos decides that Asgarnia isn't enough for him and takes over all of Gielinor?!"
"I haven't forgotten," Willow said quietly. "You don't need to yell."
"Well, dammit, I'll yell if I want to!" Tyron hollered. "I haven't gotten a good chance to yell since that Void thing attacked me! Or did you forget about that too?"
"Well if you're going to yell, yell somewhere ELSE!" Willow shouted.
"Why should I? Why should I EVER listen to you? War is a MAN'S job, Willow! Girls have no place in it!" Tyron shouted back.
Willow's face darkened. Jessica stood up in the corner, her eyes flashing like lightning. Even tiny Caltha's face was like thunder.
Without a word, all three of them picked up their packs, climbed down out of the treehouse, and disappeared into the night.

This was absolutely beautiful. Better than he had expected. They had split up. Drakos had finally won.
Thanks to the side effects of the potion he'd slipped into Tyron's waterskin, Willow had just walked out on him, along with the elf and the small girl.
Drakos drew his sword.

Willow was angrier than either Caltha or Jessica. She stormed up ahead of them, kicking sticks and rocks out of her way.
"Willow, he didn't mean it," said Jessica. "He still loves you, he just... Lost his head."
"He should count himself lucky it wasn't LITERALLY," came a voice from up ahead.
