Shatterbrains took one look at the caverns. There were multiple passages. "Not good, too many paths to tread. I have been through these tunnels on one occasion though so I will take the lead from here until we get out of the tunnel. "Where do those other paths lead?" Belar asked. "You should know, Belar, that one one leads to Darkspire eventually, the other leads into the territory of Chief Shankjaw. He's not fond of humans and drow being in his realm, and he's a tyrannical prick. You're likely to get killed if you go into his territory.

Belar thrumbed her chin. "One tunnel leads to Darkspire? How could I have known. Hey Annie, That drow went in the wrong direction." Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

Malus:

Fengh Pass. It was an area most drow were familiar with. Particularly among the upper classes. After all, it was there where a 15-year-old Prince Metras led his armies on his father's genocidal orders. It was his first campaign. The pass itself began along a snaking path up the mountain, Mount Kostas. It then led into a gulley. From there, the gulley snaked down the side of the mountain until it reached the Sanguine Sea, and the port below. It was up this path that Malus was heading.

Among the drow, Fengh Pass conjures up images of resistance. Drow were always among the lowest of classes in human society, and the elves didn't like them either, after all the drow stole resources from the elves, and never contributed to the elf tribes. Thus the elves viewed the drow as deadbeats. They had a reputation for having no moral compass among the humans as well. Theft, assault, murder, it was a common belief back then that if a murder took place, there was a good chance that the act was committed by a drow.

Unfortunately for the drow, the Sudovian royalty hated drow in particular. Gradually their rights were reduced, there were restrictions of the types of jobs they could have, and they were kicked out of the Sudovian Army. Things eventually came to a head. Pragaras was massacred by bandits led by a drow, when the fact that a drow led the bandits was known to the public, public order broke down. King Vilnius declared open season on the drow, and he sent Metras. Metras massacred the drowish population in several towns in upper Sudovia when he heard that a resistance force was gathering in Fengh Pass. He decided to send a message by destroying the gathering force resistance.

It was, as his troops advanced up the mountain that the drow pushed down boulders onto Prince Metras' troops. The result was a slaughter for Sudovian humans The prince barely escaped with his life. Perhaps Mallus was feeling patriotic on this incursion into the Pass Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

Annie:

After an hour of leading Annie, Belar, and Kunigas through passages that looked exactly the same in these dark tunnels, Shatterbrains finally led the group out of that tunnel. Belar was silent and in a somber mood. She also felt disturbed by what she saw in the tunnels earlier. She looked at Kunigas and guessed that he felt the same as she did. Why torture children? Belar asked herself silently. Belar wondered if everyone was asking that question to themselves.

Finally outside the tunnels, Shatterbrains looked around. No cookies on this crag, he looked up. There he saw a sandal, child sized, wedged between two crags like a sandwich. "Expert shot, kid!" Shatterbrains exclaimed. "So, I've got bad news: We have to climb. Kunigas, how's your back doing, you up for a climb?" Kunigas grinned " I have a much better back than my husband, that's for sure, and I was a rock climber in my youth, my duties as priest required me to be an expert mountaineer in order to administer holy rites to any who asked. I'll be slow, but I can climb. I'm more worried about Annie, Are you feeling strong enough to climb up this treacherous cliff?" Kunigas said, deflecting the question to Annie. Sakura's blank stare through her mask unnerved Lensa, but Lensa continued, " Vyras told me you met those Drugal in the forest near Vyras' old silver smuggling operation. That mine has been exhausted of silver for years, but it can still be used as shelter. Check in on Vyras in the infirmary. He'll know where it is The Balfura Twins have been inactive as of late, which is unnerving, to say the least. They've been hunting resistance members for twenty years." Lensa informed Sakura, before showing Sakura her neck, which had six puncture wounds in the nape the size of a vampire's fangs.

Three bites arrayed in a triangle shape.

"They are the reason I am called 'Thrice-Bitten,' it was Vyras who got me out of that situation. He is very familiar with those two vampires in particular. I can lead you to the infirmary, if you wish." She offered. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

All the fighters gathered around the cellar door. Burgrod readied his axe, in his right hand and his shield in his left. Zurga readied her hammer, Atleisti readied his fire magic in his left hand, but also, in case it was the stablemaster, he readied his healing magic in his right. Pallidus withdrew his daggers from the twin sheaths attached to his leather armor. Lithia, hoping it was another vampire, readied her daggers, and was set to pounce on any non-mortal that popped out of the cellar door.

"I believe we are ready, commander." Zurga informed Erik, "READY FOR STABBIES!" Lithia shouted gleefully, which put everyone else ill at ease. "I abhor violence, and just seeing all this blood makes me feel ill, but I suppose I'm ready." Atleisti said, "AWW, THE PRIESTY IS AFRAID OF BLOOD? Lithia asked "Not afraid of blood, Young elf, I usually faint at the sight of it. " You okay Atleisti?" Burgrod asked, worried about the puny healer that seemed to look paler in the face by the minute, "I juiced some apples, two nights ago, some juice might do you some good. You have to keep up your fluid consumption when you are as pale as you are, and if you need to sit down, do so." Atleisti smiled. "I'm fine ,Sir Orc. Though I thank thee for your courtesy. Shatterbrains looked through his pack, and dug out 4 pairs of climbing boots with spiked cleats at the bottom of the soles, 4 pairs of climbing gloves, and four grappling hooks made from a shiny white metal, attatched to long ropes. "The hook will dig into the rock, the boots are for better traction, and the gloves are for grabbing the rope, and then there are these. Small rock picks, enchanted to penetrate tough rock. The friction will save you if you fall off the rope, Though you will need a strong grip on the pick to prevent you from being thrown off" Shatterbrains said

"The hooks are made from platinum, aren't they?" Kunigas asked

"Yes, heavy, but dependable. Looking at the cliff face, it seems that there are plenty of places it can be hooked to, this cliff is relatively dangerous, so be careful, if you see any cracks in the rockface, it likely means the rock can be dislodged, you don't want that." Shatterbrains warned. He continued"Specifically, this is why we haven't gone up to fight the zmei for all these centuries. It's a scalable rockface, but it wasn't worth the risk of the dragon coming out, seeing us get close to its nest, and having it breathe fire on us as we climbed. Very dangerous stuff."

Belar was undeterred "Annie and I don't care about the dangers, if we do nothing, we will have failed those children, isn't that right, Annie?" Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!
