Sometime later, Lexius arrived at the stables. The stables were useless to one who could fly, and ever since resistance to vampire rule began again, Balta used the area around the stables as a makeshift field hospital. Aside from its use as a hospital, the area of the stables closest to the sea was a useful area for contemplation. Sitting by the cliffs and staring out at sea was Patikimas vampires. Lexius walked up to Patikimas and sat beside him on his left. A long silence ensued.

“I sometimes miss Sanguinos, I wonder how Beol is doing without us.” Lexius said of the city. “I cannot answer that question, Lexius. When you were fooling around on Sanguinos, my ancestors were fighting to establish Sudovia as a nation. When you arrived in Sudovia, we were on opposite sides. I fought under a man whom I admired greatly.” Patikimas mused. “Metras. What was he like?” Lexius asked. “Not the way the legend depicts him.” Patikimas said.

After a tense few minutes staring out at sea, the rest of Patikimas’ unit arrived. Thirty men. All purebloods. They were distinctly human like, as opposed to the many bat-like vampires in Clan Gern, all of them riding wyverns. Patikimas inspected his unit, as a very familiar vergas brought out Lexius’ wyvern. He was still waring his blood-stained chef’s hat.

“Purvinas, they have you on Wyvern handling duty as well?” Lexius asked. “Well since SOMEONE got my predecessor killed with all his drunken antics, I’m not only Jail guard, and chef, but wyvern handler as well. I can only handle so much stress! Particularly because one of the wyverns liked the smell of the last batch of prison slop I made and tried to eat me!” Purvinas said shaking at the thought of being nearly killed by the wyvern. “I hope getting Vyras’ head will be fruitful for you Lexius.” Purvinas said with a smile

Patikimas cleared his throat.

“Purvinas, I will be the one to sever Vyras’ head from his shoulders.” Patikimas informed him. “Like Hell you are!” Lexius roared. “I’m the one who has history with him, it should be me!” Patikimas shook his head “You do have history with him it is true; it’s because of that history, I’m concerned you would go after him, in blind fury, to your doom if you see him.” Lexius shook his head in an emphatic “no” “He’s a feeble old man with very little time left in his life. How hard can it be?” Lexius asked. “A rat is most dangerous when he is cornered.” Patikimas said. “What’s that supposed to mean?” Lexius asked. “

"it means don’t underestimate him.” Purvinas informed Lexius. “Psshh! I’m the strongest warrior in House Gern. People fear me, vampire hunters flee in terror from me. Vyras’ will prove a most savory treat for Biruta here.” Lexius’ wyvern licked her lips in anticipation of the snack to come, then shrieked excitedly. The echo throughout the forest scared many birds into flight.

Annie was shocked what was going on as Hackskul explained that the Wise Woman was having a strong vision. She watched the Wise Woman drink bug wine. She started speaking to her about what the Wise Woman vision was and she listened carefully.

After the Wise Woman finished telling about her vision, she fell asleep. She didn’t understand the vision. She watched everyone was leaving the banquet. That’s when Hackskull spoke and Kunigas respond. Then she heard what Belar just told her. She respond with a nervous voice,” I agree we should go. Let’s go. I also agree that we need a distraction.” She felt very nervous about everything that was happening right now.

Annie:
It did not take long to find Redtooth’s smithy, it was down the path ahead of Annie. Belar and Annie walked down the stone path and found the smith grinding the bevels on the shortsword with a special grindstone. One look at it and it was easy to tell that the grinding wheel was made from diamonds. As Redtooth placed the blade at an 18-degree angle on the wheel, excess bone slung off at great speed, but once he was done, with one side of the blade, he had to do the same with the other side. Excess bone from the other side flung off with the speed of a shot crossbow bolt.

At last, the bevel on the blade had been forged. Next was the fuller. There was not a precise way to make a fuller on a shortsword of this material. He took out a bone carving punch and hammered a small three-centimeter hole into the blade, then he took out his carving knife and began whittling away excess bone off until he expanded the hole into an eight-centimeter line, then he took out a diamond bone cutting chisel out and carved the fuller out until it had run the length of the curved half “D” shaped blade with an unfitted handle on the tang of the blade. Then he stopped working.

“Ah just in time” he said “The blade is finished, but unsharpened, but before I do any of that, I need to finish the handle, I have several burls in mind: Blackwood, with a brass, flanged guard and wrapped around with black leather straps for a good grip and a ringed pommel; Whitewood with a bronze lightning bolt shaped guard, and a spiky pommel, or perhaps redwood with a brass straight guard?

Annie and Belar finally got to Redtooth’s smithy. She thought this place was really cool as they walked into the smithy. She wanted to learn how to make weapons because she wants to understand how they were made.

Then she heard Redtooth just told them. She responded,”That’s really good news. I really don’t know anything about swords handles. I think Belar should choose on it.” She felt very tried from everything that happen so far.

Annie:

Belar was not a blacksmith. "Hmmm" Belar said as she considered the options. "I know nothing of handles. Asking for my opinion just doesn't seem help." Belar said. "Unfortunate." Redtooth sighed. "Well, I assume she would want to blend in with the darkness. I'm terrified that my son's savior could end up being spotted because her fool of a blacksmith put on a flanged bronze guard that ended up glowing in the moonlight, or in natural lighting. I think the black wood handle without a guard would work. This is a slashing weapon, not a thrusting weapon. I like the idea of a spiky pommel on the hilt. Annie could jab any vampire thinking to grab her from behind with it. Are you in agreement, Annie?" Redtooth asked.

Annie listen to Belar told her. She responded,” I understand.” Then she heard Redtooth just suggested for the sword handle. She responded with excitement,” We are in agreement. Thank you.” She also felt very tired from everything that happen so far. -Dances-

If the Vergas could smell blood of their own kind while in a septic environment, unnoticed evasion was impossible within talking range. The creatures had to be dealt with immediately; if they walked back in their hideout, they would remain in the way regardless.

Contrary to her complaint, the fourth Vergas was lost to admiration and, as the last to pass the hidden killer, was the first targeted. Impending slaughter lurked in the shadows, kindled by lightless patience--Malus swung sideways low, intending to drag his sword across the legs of multiple Vergas at once, then would continuously twirl his blade while closing distance with the nearest standing foe if they dispersed.

* * *

The vampire dissipated into shade, dodging an attack that was never performed? Sakura hadn’t made any attack, yet an attack occurred regardless. Since this was the case, Sakura’s attack--whatever it was--could not damage a shadowy form.

Since her foe had vanished, Sakura kept the momentum of her ax going, changing its direction then slamming it upon an apparition’s head, clefting his head asunder. Several more apparitions appeared, resembling dead men as if all their blood had leaked out their bodies, their veins black, eyes and hair pale. Like the initial apparitions, they carried katanas and tate shields.

The lifeless apparitions swung their blades, cutting Sakura’s shoulder guards and mask. She resisted the attacks, then retaliated by her own hefty blows, each one smashing through an apparition’s shield then biting against lifeless flesh, hurling him off his feet. Sakura continued swinging her ax, side to side, hissing as the veritable mass of sharpened steel felled a man per blow.

The thrown dwarf landed somewhere and nothing seemed to have become of him.

Erik had no way knowing there was another horde approaching. He wasn’t off in that distance.
Erik had no way knowing what Pallidus observed. Erik was not on the other side of time, unable to see their eye color, equipment or facial features.
Erik had no way knowing the charging leader or her companion of the second vampire horde, he was not in that direction.
Erik had no way knowing what his comrades were doing, as he was focused on his foe. All he could immediately notice in this case was his orders were not followed. He had do rely on himself and hope his companions could manage on their own.
Presumably, the dwarves and mercenaries who joined the fight preoccupied the other vampires.
Presumably, the rooftop archers could no longer shoot due to the smokescreens.

The Vixnnar brute, the Breaker, had the back of his knee hit by Erik’s sword, the poleyn falling off the greave somehow.
Somehow, the Breaker tried blocking with an ax, though he came wielding a maul.

While the blue fellow waddled, Erik would have hastily followed, never allowing any distance to form between he and his foe. Erik would have chopped continuously while keeping his shield extended, hacking at the brute’s legs. It was not possible to perform this, as the brute was sidestepping to avoid buildings, and needed more time as to withdraw his sword, which prevented anything else from happening. Whatever happened to his exquisite hammer was anybody’s guess, but the Vixnaar was a prepared man of many weapons. What was presented within Erik’s point of view, however, was the brute’s bastard sword.

Once Erik could continue moving, he rolled his shoulders, swerving underneath his opponent’s arms then pushing his shield upwards against the brute’s sword pommel. Keeping his shield-arm extended, Erik continuously rolled his shoulders, chopping at the brute’s fingers and hand holding the bastard sword.
