Once Sudaro reached the bottom of the prison, he was met with a three-forked path. The mage prison was the center section and had way more security than the others. Wards and such that made magic use impossible, thick doors made of heavy iron, cell bars so close together that it is impossible to pickpocket a key.

Sudaro led Balta down the left path. As he lead Balta down the dark passageway, Sudaro could hear the labored breathing of a prisoner, the smell of blood had worked up an appetite for Sudaro as it was human blood, but he ignored the desire to feed. He was wearing a snazzy white tunic, and trousers and did not want it marred with blood. Not long after he came across the dying prisoner who had his throat slashed with a dagger as well as his cell wall smashed open. A hole was visible that allowed Balta to see Lexius. Several Vixnar brutes were moving some more of Lexius’ things into the cell next door Including purple rugs, a wine rack. And a vertical pole for him to exercise. Lexius always made it a point to stay physically fit. That way he’d look attractive to women so he wouldn’t have to resort to trickery or force to get what he wanted from them. Sudaro looked at Balta. She looked disappointed. He knew from conversations with her that she despised the preferential treatment of her son by everyone, as he took it as a sign that he was Belmordia’s gift to vampires and women of all races, living and dead. The dying human was of no concern to Balta, There was no law that said Lexius couldn’t kill him, and indeed Velnias would not care. A dying human prisoner was of no significance on Sanguinos.
They walked up to Lexius’ other cell. Slightly elevated off the ground with two-step stairs. He even got to choose his own cell. It was lined up with wine racks filled with bloodwine, a book case with several books, sedated human female cattle, an opulent coffin made of blackwood and lined in gold hugged the far wall, and a table with a journal within view of the cell door.

Balta ran up to the door to see Lexius, drinking another bottle of bloodwine. She put her hands on the cell door “Lexius!” She screamed “You’ve really done it this time!” “Are you here to get me out of this cell,” Lexius asked rudely. “You here to get me out of this cell?” Balta mocked him, before calming herself down. “If this cell weren’t warded on the outside and inside of the cell, I’d shadow warp into your cell door, and slap you for your rudeness. Tingus and I have been worried sick about you! When I heard you’d been sentenced, I assumed you’d be burnt at the stake for your crime, as that is normal procedure for murder. Thankfully, Lord Velnias has given you a 13 year sentence and did away with normal procedure. You’d better use your sentence to become a better person! That means be a model prisoner, and bide your time. No outlandish requests for Velnias.” Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

Sudaro, who had kept from saying “hi” to Lexius to give the two time, walked up to Balta, Upon seeing Sudaro, Lexius banged on the cell door. “Sudaro gave him a single finger to indicate that he needed time. “Lady Gern, We’ll give him preferential treatment up to a point.” Balta stared at Sudaro blankly. “Up to a point? You made your deference clear by giving him a palace in the dungeon. He’s never going to learn to keep his debauchery in check with female human cattle sedated with magic in his cell.

Sudaro noted her concern. “ I understand, Balta, I will have the cattle removed.” Balta smiled. “ You really are a good kid, Velnias should be proud of you.“ Sudaro blushed and then went to check on Lexius. A mixture of pity and concern showed on Sudaro’s face. “I’m not going to be a dick and ask how life is going, Lexius. It must be awful.” Sudaro said matter-of-factly. “Ah, Sudaro, old friend! Are you going to let me out?”

Sudaro shook his head. “You are safer here in the dungeons. That is what father believes, and I cannot go against his judgement. He happens to be correct. You made a lot of enemies whether or not you killed her, and enemies from before. Now that you are locked up, they know where you are located and they are waiting for any excuse to slip in and end you.”
Lexius grinned defiantly.

“I wish them luck in trying to manage to find me. Wards be damned, I can just pummel them with my fists and flay them with my claws” Lexius said defiantly. Sudaro did not doubt what Lexius was saying. He was a fierce fighter. “Just take it easy.” Balta told her son. “Tingus and I will visit as often as we can, but please, no funny business. “Shall we go back up, Balta?” Sudaro asked. A moment of silence. “I think I said all that needs to be said. “I won’t let anything bad happen to him during his stay, Neither will father. He’ll get through this.” Balta nodded. And then Sudaro led her out of the dungeon and back to the top of the Spire. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

When Sudaro, and Balta returned, Velnias was in a meeting with Tingus and an unknown vampire explorer. “Father who is this,” Sudaro asked, referring to the explorer who was dressed in a black tunic, and a fine hat that concealed a black haired ponytail. “Sudaro, this is Gin Wu. She’s looking to secure funding for an expedition to the east. Tingus, who wore a blonde wig over his white overcoat looked utterly dejected.

“She happened to catch me at a bad time. I was simply catching up with Velnias. It’s been nearly six years since we had the chance to catch up, and then I get caught up in this nonsense. There are no lands to the east, Miss Wu.” Tingus said in an almost annoyed tone. “ And if you are wrong?” she asked. Velnias chuckled. “Tell you what, I’ll fund your expedition, if you find lands, they are yours to do with as you please. Tingus joined in. “But if this expedition is a waste of your lord’s money, I hope you are prepared for a swift execution for wasting both my time, and his money. Deal?” she grinned determinedly. “ You’re on!” then she left. After a few seconds Tingus told him. “My friend, I can’t help but wonder if she knows something that we don’t.” Velnias smirked. “Maybe, but I can’t help but admire her gusto in ignoring your warning.”

After saying their goodbyes with the drugal caravaneers, and making sure the ex-prisoners were armed, Vyras led on while Zurga carried him. Signs of morning were all around Vyras. Far away from the chaotic castle, the birds had begun their cheerful chirp in preparation for the rise of the glorious sun. Long had Vyras suspected that this was a ritual of some kind done by woodland creatures in preparation for a difficult day of foraging for fruits and seeds, preying on other woodland creatures, and scavenging off of the remains that the predators had left behind. While the sun was still an hour away from rising, Vyras had ran with the remaining prisoners all the way out of the forbidden woods.

Signs of human civilization were present ahead. Flickering lanterns were all that were visible on but the bell on the crumbling marble cathedral, on the hill, surrounded by dead trees and in the distance, had begun it’s hourly ring five times. Vyras could not help but feel guilty for making Annie clean the latrine. He however could not officially tolerate subordination or anything that could be construed as such. In truth Vyras was going to make the task easy for her. He knew she was speaking her mind. And in many ways, she was right.

“5:00” Vyras told himself, as Zurga ran with him on her back. Though he stopped to allow five minute breaks for the those out of breath. Even armed and armored, they were fragile, and many were untrained. Once they arrive at the cathedral at the top of the hill, that will change. He decided. “Everyone! “Not in the cathedral, child.” Vyras began. “Beneath it. The old Priests of Lathana back in the days before the vampires came, created all sorts of secret mechanisms in their cathedrals to hide valuables. relics, and such. Unsurprisingly, Balta Mirta began ordering her troops to destroy those same cathedrals since vampires have difficulty entering holy places. She did not want safe havens to be easily accessible, and the clergy of these churches were hunted down and killed. Most of the sturdy marble cathedrals are now unstable ruins. This one suffered the least damage due the fact The clergy fought back as the vampires who attempted to destroy it. Most other churches made of lesser materials were destroyed, and the clergy from those lesser structure burnt at the stake. ” Vyras told Subaki.

“Then that city over there must be, the capital Vilnias.” An ex-prisoner surmised. “Correct” Vyras said. “It isn’t exactly the vibrant place, it was 500 years ago, and the people may be rude, but it is the closest thing to human civilization that Sudovia has.” Vyras told them. The old man was on high alert for bandits. Every mortal is sleeping during the day day, but during the night, the ruffians would pillage and attack those on the same outskirts, and the Vilnias guards would be patrol the roads for those bandits.

Vyras heard something in the distance that sounded like moaning. The old man chalked it up to a couple having sex in the fields. He turned around and told them “I’ve ran you guys long enough. From here, we walk.” Vyras informed them. Then Zurga began walking once more. Suddenly a bone curdling scream could be heard. Zurga rushed off in the direction of them. , Vyras saw a sight that gave him shivers. Flowers began growing before Vyras’ eyes. they were large and long, with a green stem, a black flower head, and purple center around the ‘”lips” of the flower, which was bell shaped. Most alarming of all, the flower seemed to have large V-shaped teeth.

These flowers were gnawing on 50 heavily armed men. Six of them had their arms ripped off by the flowers right as Vyras and company descended down the hill. They let out a blood-curdling scream as the other plants stripped flesh off the now-defenseless humans. One flower was eating the intestines of dying human . Moans, screaming, and pleas for Vyras to help him fell deaf ears. There was nothing Vyras could do. He was too far away from them.

“Oh Shit!” Vyras said. “That is a Vampiric Venus Flower. They are growing everywhere.” Zurga began shuddering in fear. Other prisoners were also unnerved. One started talking. She was an older lady with grey hair and green eyes. “In the castle, Master Vyras we were forced to plant those flowers.” She showed other prisoners her right hand. In the palm of her hand was a nasty scar.

“The seeds burn mortal flesh, the black pollen is toxic, and the bees love those flowers, spreading that pollen everywhere, as well as the seeds during the daytime.”
“Aye” said a prisoner, “ andCutting it down with a blade produces a nasty sap that burns the flesh as well.”


Vyras spoke, “We can’t have the road up to the cathedral littered with these flowers, it’ll make gathering supplies difficult, we are going to have to cut them down or burn them.

Vyras:

Vyras tapped Zurga and asked her to put him down, allowing him to touch the ground. He had one last knick-knack in his bag. A terracotta fire bomb. He grabbed it, took it out and tossed it at a group of the flowers. It resulted in lengthy spray of flame over 10 of the vile plants. As the plants burned, Vyras could hear the flowers hiss as they burnt away to nothing. Using the flames as a method of spreading the flames further, he performed a gesture that allowed him to gather flame and spread it farther. Although he was met with the same searing pain and blackened lightning that he had earlier.

Vyras was weak. And he could not use his magic anymore. The pain was getting worse and worse each time he used magic. Though he remembered the term that he had forgotten. Vyras had the Necrotus Curse. Every necromancer faces it at some point in their life unless they become a vampire. Somehow, Vyras had angered the Goddess Lathana.


“Was it the amount of undead I summoned at once for the siege,” Vyras wondered, as he took up his walking stick and began bashing another Venus flower, knocking green sap onto his foot. The sap began eating at Vyras’ shoe, and had burnt into his flesh. Vyras had not choice but to back off and remove his shoe immediately lest he lose his foot. He took a nearby tree branch and removed the sap from his skin. The sap immediately began eating at the tree branch he used to remove it. Vyras was done. He had killed 13 of the flowers, and nearly lost the tip of his foot to the sap. The good news was that the one he bashed with his staff was dead as well, although the sap was eating through his staff as well. The sap had left a series of nasty blisters around his left foot.

Time to start killing weeds. There are 70 of these evil flowers all over the road blocking our way to the cathedral. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!
