With the other ex-prisoners distracted, Vyras felt comfortable enough not to call Annie out for her insubordination too much. Vyras smiled at Annie briefly before his demeanor turned forlorn once again. He whispered in her ear.
“Just to let you know, I know full well what goes on in that castle. And I can’t have insubordination in the ranks, You get the disgusting task of cleaning the latrine when we get back.” he continued.
“I get your points, and completely disagree. Years of planning went into that siege. I hope it pays off. I certainly could not have anticipated the dragon, I thought they had all been killed. That siege nearly fell apart; we were swarmed by gargoyles and wyverns, my damned siege engines were destroyed and my undead army massacred by vampires, if those elves hadn’t arrived, the siege would have fallen apart. Based on all that transpired, I wouldn’t fault them for clonking me on the head and leaving me to die. Irrational minds do irrational things under stress, little one. Perhaps distracted by the similarities the current blade had to his old one, Erik likely began spending time getting used to the grip, and the weight of the blade. The blade was slightly heavier than the one he used to have. During these exercises, Haegar witnessed Vyras, who had left Annie’s company to talk with Ciconia. Given how close he was to Vyras, Erik could hear a few things.
The two were catching up. Erik got the sense that the two knew each other for a long time. At some point Daptrius had to tell her that the small-talk had to be kept short. The last thing Vyras heard Ciconia ask was “Where is your resistance located now?” Vyras answered her question in vague terms, he did not want to put his resistance in danger should the caravan be captured. “A place a vampire cannot enter. Surrounded by dead trees, near Vilnias.” He told her. Then he beckoned the prisoners to move on into deeper into the forest. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

Sakura:
Used to archery, though clearly favoring her masakari, Sakura was likely inspecting the weapon for any inferior craftsmanship. Perhaps she was suspicious, too. Coming across a yumi in Daptrius’ weapon selection likely indicated theft. No Samurai would allow themselves to sell their weapon. They weren’t beholden to gambling, or betting either. This was an exception however, and she took the bow, and arrows. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

Lord Sudaro Draconis:
Sudaro trudged through the darkened forest silently. Taking a cue from their young leader, the other Clan Draconis purebloods marched on in absolute silence towards their destination. In the dark, their skin glowed a pale white, even in the dark. It contrasted deeply from the bat-like features of the lesser vampires of Gern. Sudaro’s mind was in turmoil. He despised Clan Gern but ultimately, confronting them meant that he was going to be murdering the people closest to him. Clan Gern practically raised him in some respects. He especially hated the fact that he would soon face his former best friend in battle if he played his cards right. His mind drifted off as he trudged to a night from many years ago. The night that marked the beginning of the end of the friendship between his family and Lexius’.

Castle Draconis was a gargantuan structure that eclipsed the buildings around Beol. The castle was pentagonal in its archetecture but a single jutting tower towered everything else in the city. Even the castles of the other five Great Houses: Gern, Mortis, Tilvus, and Turtas and Paleda.
Beol is located atop a hill and its walls encircle that hill in such a way that that the tower that juts from the center of the city can be seen from any point in that city. That tower is known as the Draconian Spire. Even getting into the district is next to impossible for those who don’t have an appointment with Lord Velnias Draconis. Once an appointment has been set, they have would be graced with an impressive display of Draconian military might. If one had an appointment, he could easily navigate through the 15 patrols of Clan Draconis Purebloods and up the 72 step staircase made of limestone which inclined at a 75 degree angle, making the climb up physically taxing for any not physically fit to do the climb.
Once one got to the top, the appointee would introduce him to the guard, be searched and let it to the bottom half of the initially lengthy rectangular chamber laid out with red silk carpets. bookshelves full of interesting tidbits of information were available allowing the appointee to read until Lord Draconis’ bodyguard climbed down the staircase to retrieve the appointee. The long climb up would then begin up the spire. Transforming into a bat was strictly forbidden in the castle.
It would be a very long climb up a spiral staircase. The tower goes up from that lengthy chamber up 7 stories with floors dedicated for servants, royal guards, the steward, and the Court wizard. At the second to highest floor was Sudaro’s room, and that of his servants. It was at the top that Sudaro, and his Father were meeting with Balta Mirta, dressed in a black dress with no pockets and carrying a bag. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!

Lord Velnias Draconis was a bald individual with red eyes, pale white skin, and he dressed in a ebon black tunic and with gold embroidery, he wore a circlet of gold with a ruby in the center. He was powerfully built and muscular, in contrast to Sudaro’s meek build.
three days ago, Lexius had been arrested for his wife, the former Lady Drescu’ murder. Her family served as diplomats for House Paleda, who controlled Sanguinos’ Ministry of Magic. In the years they were married, Sudaro noted a frightening change in Lexius’ behavior. Due to her proximity to Sudraro, he ended up becoming a close confidante of hers as well. Neither seemed happy with each other. It was a marriage of political convenience. Lady Drescu had told stories of her husband being so abusive that she’d hurl lightning bolts at Lexius to get him to back off. Lexius in turn would have to subdue her with his strength to calm her down. On two separate occasions, Lexius had major scratches on his face, and Lady Drescu would show up with a black eye.
When she was found dead with a sword blade embedded in her skull, It was assumed that Lexius was the culprit. But being from House Gern, and having a familial friendship with Lord Velnias kept him out of jail.

Balta looked at Lord Draconis dead in the eye.
“Lord Draconis, I humbly request you release Lexius into our care. He can be exiled to our villa, far away from the city. Far away from the… slaves that he’s been having so much fun with.” Sudaro looked at his father, he looked beyond annoyed with Balta. He sighed. “That wouldn’t work, Balta; he’d be beset upon by a mob the moment he leaves the Draconian District. She was much loved for advances that made tracking human mages easier. Prison is where he is safest.” Balta pestered Lord Draconis with another request. “May I see him, Lord?” Balta asked politely.
To Sudaro, it was surprising that a woman as commanding as Balta would stoop to asking for permission. “Father, may I take her to the dungeon, I see no reason to deny her.” Sudaro asked, Velnias frowned “You may, after my guards search her, again” Balta furrowed her eyebrows in anger. “My Lord?” she asked. It was her way of saying to him “How dare you?”
Immediately Balta was beset upon by Lord Draconis’ Vergas guards. They snatched her bag with their blood encrusted hands and searched it. When they found a lockpick they brought it to Lord Draconis. “I’m sorry, Lady Gern, did you think I wouldn’t predict that you’d try to bust him out? I think I will hold on to your bag for now. Sudaro looked at his father with expressions of surprise. “Father, are the Gerns not our friends? Why treat her this way?” Velnias did not turn to face his son, “Friendship can only go so far. She is not of sound mind and is in grief over the incarceration of her son. I think being able to see her kid again will bring some life back into her eyes.” He told Sudaro

From there, Sudaro led her outside the building and an immediate left down a spiral staircase to the dungeon. It was the infamous Gili Tamsa Mage prison, held in the Draconian district and overseen jointly by House Paleda. It was in this prison that humans with magical talent are held, tortured and executed for having such powers. Human mages are much feared in Sanguinos.
The idea that a human, slave, or free, could possess such talent, utterly terrified vampires on Sanguinos to the point that House Peleda used its funds to construct the prison. it was virtually impossible to see without some source of light. Only a sub-section of the prison was devoted to incarcerating those with magical talent, it was this subsection that gained the prison its extreme notoriety.
Being next in line to House Draconis, Sudaro had a key which he used on the heavy iron door before sliding it. Grating from metal on limestone did not feel good on Sudaro’s ears. Once decended into the dark hole. The screams and moans of prisoners could be heard throughout the dungeon. Sudaro was hearing the final moments of mortals accused of being mages, whether true or not, these were their final agonizing moments. The executions in the prison were far from quick and painless. Their method of execution depended on the mood of the torturer, but it was always brutal. Just your friendly neighborhood gay boy!
