Elyssa paused to stare at the hunter. She noticed his predicament and debated staying to help him or to return to Alexandre, surely leaving the hunter to his death. Elyssa stepped forward and grabbed his bow off the ground and looked it over.
The humans and elves had a tentative alliance against the vampires but there was still a level of distrust among them. She worked with humans in the Rebellion but she was a fool to pretend to not notice the sneers and remarks made about her. Most of those coming from her Battalion leader, Alexandre. The man that she was working so hard to save would never have cast a second glance at her if she was in his position.
Elyssa turned her gaze to the forest, in the direction of the battlefield. She knew that only a few more meters away was the river that she climbed a tree to cross. And from there it was about a 10 minute walk to saving a man who maybe didn't deserve to be saved. She could feel the weight of the hunters eyes on her, probably wondering if she was crazy and what she would do to him.
Elyssa sighed.
Elyssa stood and dusted off her pants before looking at the hunter.

"No, you won't be able to use it. Not like that."
She set the bow down and then reached up and grabbed the spike between her hands. She put one foot up against the tree and shoved with all her might, pulling the spike free. Elyssa's effort caused her to fall hard onto the ground, laughing slightly.
"Well Elyssa, That was graceful."
The laughter was odd at this time. There was a war raging nearby and the animals of the forest were clearly in distress.
Elyssa stood and dusted off her pants before looking at the hunter.
"I can heal that if you want."
She knew what she had just revealed. Healers were few and far between in this world. It was very rare to have any abilities at all. In most cases they were kidnapped and held hostage, mostly by the vampires. Elyssa didn't care. She liked helping people and so be it whatever happened to her.
There isn't one.
