He stood beside the others, wondering how on earth he was allowed to be chosen by The Woman in White. He certainly wasn't all that special; hell, he was pretty much just a common thief! Yet, here he was, in the dew of early morning, next to these other men.
Had such a thing ever happened before? He had seen, just as well as everybody, the shooting star become many individual pieces. Here he was with three others, a young boy included, to claim those pieces. For so many people to be chosen at once; he was struggling to remember when the last time he heard about such a situation!
Of course, he had already sized up his 'companions'. Was companion the right word? They were all here for the same purpose, but he couldn't call them competition. Likewise, he didn't think they were going to help each other, so they weren't associates or comrades.
Anyway, he had scoped out his companions with the thoroughness a burglar scopes out a site: A small child, wonder-stuck at being brought here. The man with the trench coat, confidently finding his new name. The man absentmindedly twirling his staff; who either did not care about this whole situation, or cared more than he wanted to let on.
And of course, there was him, the man in the black shirt and hoodie, despite the gentle warmness of the early sun. Who was he now? The name of the common thief seemed so far behind him now. Now, there was a name that he felt had been hiding behind that one for ages:
"My name is...."
No, those weren't the right words. It wasn't a name, it was an identity. Kain had been right in his speaking; these names represented who they were now.
"I am Glenn."
