I heard a growl from my left, and I turned to see a giant bear lumbering towards me swiping his claws at anyone who dare try to stop him. The bear dropped to all fours when he had a clear path and ran straight at me. The bear was about 12 feet high with claws about 3 inches long. I raised my shield as the bear swiped it claws. It struck it ripping it from my hands and clattered onto the ground. I ducked and rolled to dodge another claw, only having to jump backwards to dodge another. I swiped at the bear with my sword, desperate to find a weak spot. The bear charged and caught me off-guard, and pinned me to the ground with one paw on my arm, and the other on my chest plate. The beast snarled as it pushed down on my chest. I heard my armor start to groan and crack.
“It’s going to crush me like a tin can!” I thought alarmingly. The bear*s head came within inches of mine as it growled. I looked up and grinned through pain. “Maybe I’m not the one you should be focusing on.” I said strained. Out of nowhere a giant war hammer came from the side right into the bear*s head, crushing it instantly.
The bear hit the ground at my side hard, deader than a door hinge. Yoshi leans over to me and whispers, “I believe the term is, deader than doornail.” I jump up and yell, “They are equally dead!!”
Yoshi backed off a little. *Ok, so what now?* I clasped my hands together to get the dirt off. *Well the archers are almost all dead,” I said looking up to the wall, “if we hold out a little bit longer then we have a chance!” Yoshi and I grinned, but we both came to a horrific realization. Yoshi shakily looked around.
“W-why is no one attacking us?” We both looked around. There was a circle around us about 100 feet in diameter where no Saradominists, nor our troops, entered, though they still battled around us. *That… Can’t be good.” I hesitated, trying to figure out what was going on. I did*’t have to wait long.

In the distance came a long, maddening howl. We looked behind, and atop of a big boulder stood Growler, Saradomin’s pet. His eyes were red and teeth gnashin*, staring right at us. He soared down from the rock, and landed in front of us, his menacing growl could be distinctly heard over the battle around us.
“Don’t worry Noob, as long as we stick together I think we can take him.” Yoshi said reassuringly, raising his hammer. That when we heard a distinct cry come from behind us. *That sounded like Doodle.” I whispered. We looked behind us to see, amidst the battle, Doodle on the ground with a cut on his forearm, and he was desperately trying to heal himself. Jaya stood over him as a lone protector, daring anyone to try and hurt him. I looked at Yoshi. “She can’t protect him by herself, go help her.”
Yoshi snapped a look at me. “But-“
“Now Yoshi!” I boomed. Yoshi gave one last hesitant look at Growler, than bolted away to aid Jaya. I heard the ominous growl at my back, and I slowly turned around to see Growler... Well growling… Big shock right? “That’s right fella,” I said calmly, “It’s just you and me.” Growler bared his teeth in response.
He began circling me, slowly but steadily gaining ground on me. Inside my heart pounded and adrenaline shot through my veins, but I did*’t let that register on my being. I stood still, sword in hand. A slight breeze ruffled my cape, making me shift uncomfortably. Then, all was silent as the wind died down. I waited anxiously, not knowing when he was going to strike. It was torture waiting for the beast to hit. Beads of sweat rolled down my forehead obscuring my vision, though I never made it get in the way of my focus on Growler. Finally, he was but five feet away when he stopped his vulture-like circling. A huge explosion rocked about 50 feet behind Growler caused by one of the catapult. It caught his attention for a moment, and that’s when I decided it was show time.

Without a sound I leaped over to him and swung my sword heavily down upon Growler’s neck. I rejoiced inside for the distraction. “This could be over before it started!” I thought. The sword hit its target, and with a metallic cling, it glanced off, causing no more than a scratch on his hide.
I cursed under my breath as he reared around and roared. He bear-swiped me with one of his claws, knocking me back a few yards. I blinked once and stumbled up, disorientated. Growler snarled and jumped at me. I jumped to the side and rolled out of the way, missing his razor-sharp claws by a hair. That type of situation returns a man to focus, and I’m not excluded. I brought my sword up just in time to blow a swipe of his claws, only to be barreled into. Once again, I got thrown backwards. I struggled to get up after getting the wind knocked out of me. “I can’t keep this up, he’s too strong.” I thought frantically.
He charged me again, this time though I was ready and jumped to the side, running my sword along his scales, causing nothing but a long, jagged scratch that I doubt he was even aware of. He turned around and got up on his hind legs like a bear and roared at me, swiped with both his giant paws. I was forced to continue backing up while I desperately deflected his blows. Finally, with a powerful strike that could have broke a tree in half, he tore the sword from my grip, which clattered to the ground quite a substantial distance away. Before I could do anything, He ran me over and pinned me to the ground, like the bear did before him. I cried out in pain as the weight of Growler can down upon my shoulders. I felt my armor starting to get crushed.
I looked to my sides, desperately trying to find something… ANYTHING that would help me. I spotted a dagger that was just inches out of my reach. It was then I remember Growler’s weakness: his unprotected belly. But a lot good that information would do without a weapon.

Growler snarled as he continued to press down, getting frustrated that my armor was so hard to crush. Finally he got so mad that I guess he decided that it was easier just to butcher me to death, and released one of my arms as he raised his paw, claws shining with blood. Luckily, that was the break I needed. Like lightning I was able to wrap a finger around the dagger, pulling it towards me, and side-swiped the dagger right in between one of his ribs. He howled in pain and reared back, releasing my other hand.
I shot forwards thrusting the dagger further. I just couldn’t help it…I just HAD to say a zingy one-liner. “One down, two to go.” I smirked at Growler. Using all my strength, I grunted as I ripped the dagger up his skin towards his heart. His eyes lost focus as he died before he even hit the ground. Unfortunately, I was caught between him and the ground. He fell on top of me and buried me under his immense girth.
My eyes grew fuzzy as the wind was knocked out of me. I was faintly aware of blood streaming all over my body. I took a few frantic moments before I remember it wasn’t mine. I was aware of no sounds except the blood pulsing in my ears. I needed to get Growler off me before I passed out. I focused all my strength into forward motion only to come out with a weak shove, barely shifting the corpse on me. I heard a shout come from somewhere but I couldn’t make it out. It got louder and loud in my mind until my brain was able to process it.
“Noob!” Someone yelled. I felt the great weight lift off me and I gulped in several lung-full breaths of air. I looked around to find Doodle, Oreo, Jaya, and Amy around me with Yoshi running towards us. As Ore* and Doodle helped me up, Yoshi gave me a sour look. “Why are you all red? Noob this is no time for finger painting! Especially not without me!” He pouted.

Before I could say anything, Amy offered a wet rag which I graciously accepted. I used it to remove the blood from my face, neck, and hands. A young messenger was seen skirting through the battle towards us.
He reached us, saying “Sir, the archers are down and the gliders have been released.* I looked into the distance to confirm that they were indeed almost over the wall. Within a few minutes, an emergency horn was sounded and the drawbridge lowered. My group ran to the open gate as the army distracted the Saradominists. I ran to a small door once over the bridge that was part of the watchtower, and entered it. We were in a small guard station with no one inside. It was lit by white energy that came through tubes along the ceiling. Inside were a small table and some chairs that I sat one. Jaya brought out a map of the castle and unrolled it on the table. “Now what Noob?” Yoshi asked.
I looked at the map for a few seconds while rubbing my chin. “Here we are,” I stated pointing to an area on the map,” and I’ll bet anything that this large room here is Saradomin’s throne room.” I said this while pointing to a large room on the other side of the map that in large letters said “Saradomin’s Throne Room”.
“We will have to cover a lot of distance in a little time. The throne room is sure to be guarded by Saradomin’* best troops, so we going to have to bring the army inside. There’s a second wall of defense with a large gated tower blocking the army from the main structure of the Palace. We have to go through that door,” pointing to a door on the other side of the room, “make it down to the dungeon level where we should be able to traverse it and make it under the wall and come up on the other side and find some short of lever to release the gate. Once that happens, the army is free to march upon the Throne room, and thus would end phase two.” I said, snapping my fingers when I said “thus” to emphasis my brilliance.

“I have to admit it Noob,” Started Oreo ,”that’s one-“
He was silenced as I blinked and they disappeared. I was back in the red moonlight. The withering shadow struggled to lift its head up. “Beware…” It whispered. “The Bane…” I blinked again and I was back in the room with my gang.
“Good plan!” Oreo grinned. I looked around frantically, drawing weird gazes from my companions. “Are you alright Noob?” Amy asked, concerned. “Y…Yah I’m fa-fine.” I stumbled. I cleared my throat and stood up. “Let us be off.” I said, walking to the door. The memory of the shadow haunted my thoughts as I tried to make sense of it. The Bane? I’ve heard that somewhere before, on the edge of my memory, whisping out of my grasp. It frustrated me to no end.
I twisted the handle of the door and walked through with the others close hind. A long, narrow passage way filled with wrought iron doors. The same luminescent strips of light on the ceiling filled the hallway with a warm glow. Jaya, who had the map, led the way through several passageways similar in every way to the one we started in, until we came upon the end of one of the halls. There was a wooden door with a burning torch lighting it that was strange. “Why do they need a torch if we already have enough light?” I pondered.
“This is it.” Jaya said studying to the map. “Beyond this door is a stairwell that should lead us down to the dungeon level.” Doodle open the door with a blast of magic, and we indeed found a set of cobble stairs. It was wide enough for only one person, so we had to go down in a line. I looked into the depths to find that no light existed. “We’re going to need that torch.” I muttered. I pulled it from its resting place and continued down the stairs. It was a long, cold way down. What I expected to be a mere 2 minute descent turned into a long hard 20 minute repel down the endless stairs. By the end, we were all feeling a bit claustrophobic.

There was another wooden door with bars covering a small window. It was unlocked so we proceeded inside. We were in a small cave that was so dark that we couldn’t see but a few feet in front of us nor overhead, but I could tell by the echo that it went far. It was narrow enough at the beginning where we saw empty cells that made up some of the dungeon. Passing on both sides we small cells that prisoners were kept in. The scary thing is some of them weren’t empty. Some of the cells housed what I once expect were humans, but no more. Their bodies horrible disfigured as they sat on the ground, some rocking back and forth, muttering incoherently to themselves, while others just stared blankly at us with their cold, lifeless eyes. These people had the humanity and hope beat out of them long ago, and they await the merciful release that was death to take them.
I looked behind to find Jaya and Amy were crying, trying to avert their eyes from the living abominations. I took both their hands and whispered, “Close your eyes.” They did as I told and I lead them forward so they wouldn’t have to look.
The smell was almost enough to knock out a hill giant. Coughing only made it worse. We marched on for endless minutes until about 30 minutes later, we reached a point at which two hallways met to shape an “L” In front of us was another wooden door and hopeful was another staircase that would lead us out of here. I reached for the door, and then stopped as I heard the dark shadow’s voice in my head. “No** It said. I could tell that it was losing strength at a fast rate. I doubt it even had the will power to bring me back into it’s realm.
I looked sidewards as I gazed down the other hallway with disgust. The thought of going down another tunnel of the damned almost made me sick. However I noticed very faintly a light that was no larger than a speck of sand.
I started walking towards it. “Noob? What are you doing!” Amy gasped. I did*’t stop to explain.

I just turned and very calmly said “Follow me.” The others looked on in horror. “Trust me.” I reassured. They gave each other a shaky look. “No way Noob. I’m not going down one of those tunnels again, my mind can’t take it.” Amy whimpered. Jaya nodded in agreement. I sighed and looked back at them. *Ok, here’s the plan. Oreo, you lead Amy and Jaya upstairs and try to find a way to unlock the gate. Yoshi and Doodle will accompany me down this tunnel.”
“Why is this tunnel so important?” Yoshi asked shakily. The truth is I did*’t have a good reason for him. “I just…know.” I said, frustrated on how hard it was to display my feelings. After some more tempting, I was able to get them to agree and we parted. Oreo, Jaya, and Amy went up of the stairs as Yoshi, Doodle, and I went down the corridor.
This one was unlike the other one: it contained no cells nor torture chambers. As we got closer to the light, the cave around us started getting bigger and wider as it filled with a little more light. About ten minutes into the journey, the cave was about 50 feet high and was lit with the light that of a dim candle. The cave suddenly spiked up and we found ourselves in a massive cavern. It was a giant circular cave that had a walk way around the outside going further and further down each time it looped around. At the very bottom, about 300 feet down, was floor made of marble that was about 50 feet in radius. In the center was an enormous seal. The light we saw emanated from the edges of the seal, which gave it a powerful look.
“What is it?” Doodle looked down in wonder.
“It’s a cell.” I answered. They looked at me incredulously. “A cell to keep something very powerful from getting out.” I said, the blood in my veins turning to ice as the realization hit me like a mountain. I suddenly knew who the shadowy figure was that haunted my thoughts. The others gasped as they understood what they were looking at: The seal that is trapping Zamorak, the fallen god.
