Energy was being drawn from the Portal Palace into the bulb of Wibble’s staff. The mages were directing the flow of energy from one staff to another until it reached Wibble’s. Purple light shone brightly from the sphere. After about a minute or two, Wibble closed his eyes, grunted loudly, and jammed the staff into the ground, and we all were surrounded with light. After a few seconds the light went away and we were in a different place. I then heard a cry for help.
“Noob! Help me! The light blinded me!” was the first thing I heard when the light ended. Ten thousand gold pieces goes to the people who guess who it was! I turned to Yoshi to find that his helmet was too big for his head and it had spun around, covering his face.
“Easy does it.” I grunted as I helped him up. I took off his helmet and threw it to the ground. “You won’t need it.” I said flatly, patting him on the shoulder. He looked around dazed, blinking as his eyes adjusted to the new light.
“Sure Noob…W-whatever you say.” He said hesitantly. You may ask why I did what I just did. He’s got nothing to protect up there anyway. The helmet would just be extra weight.
Well we appeared to be in a barren field surrounded by a dead forest. The sun was barely visible through dark, sulfurous clouds. All the trees were stripped bare of leaves and looked dead for the most part. Dense foliage such as thorn bushes, poison ivy, and hell-vines surrounded us on 3 sides, so we only had one way to go.
The soldiers were dazed and confused, most of them having never teleported before. It took us about 15 minutes for us to resume ranks. I looked around solemnly. “Wibble!” I called. Wibble walked up to me. “yes, king?” He questioned. “Where are we?” I asked. “I’ll find out immediately, my lord.” Wibble signaled to one of his mages in formation, who ran over to us. He was carrying small chest on his back, maybe something big enough to safely transport an orange.

The mage knelt down while un-strapping the chest and lowered it to the ground in front of him with great care. Wibble gave the mage a key from around his neck which unlocked it. The man opened the case and brought out something covered in a velvet cloth. He opened the cloth, careful not to touch its content. What was there was a clear sphere the size of an apple with black energy squirming inside.
“That sir,” Wibble said pointing “, is a scrying orb. It will allow me to track our position and tell me how far we are from our target.” I nodded. “Then by all means.” I said with a forward gesture.
Wibble stepped forward and placed his hands within inches of the orb. The black mass inside started to writhe as if being force to do something it did*’* want to do. It started to swirl into different colors: red, blue, green, grey, orange, then a shape started to form. I was too far away to make anything out. “I see an obelisk-shaped castle with a large outer wall, completed with a portcullis and moat.” I swore under my breath. Although my plan already incorporated a moat, my plan would have been a lot easier without one. Fine then, we do this the hard way.
The first phase will mainly rely upon Neo’s engineers. We will use his gliders to fly over the wall and lower the drawbridge from the inside so we can make it over the moat. Unfortunately, archers will be covering Saradomin’s high wall; well out of range of any of our archers. So, sending in the gliders first would be suicide, what we first have to do is take out the archers. This is where Neo’s tribe o’ geniuses comes in again. His section of the army his filled with trebuchets and catapults, and their range can far outmatch that of Saradomin’s archers. The catch is it won’t take them long to figure out what’s going on, and Saradomin will release ground troops to dispatch the machines. That’s everyone else’s job: defend the rigs until the gliders can be launched.

If all goes well, the gliders will make it over the wall and open the gate, letting us in, and that would conclude phase one. Let’s hope we get that far.
“Found us, Sire.” Said Wibble; he turned to me. “We’re about 10 miles south. We’ll hit the castle by noon.* He said. I nodded while the mage quickly wrapped the sphere back into the cloth and out of sight into the chest. He then scurried back to formation.
We walked for the better part of the morning, the scenery never changing. On the downside it made for a real bleak and eerie atmosphere, but on the positive side, it was really easy to play I-spy! ‘Bout an hour to noon, we saw our target in the distance. It had light blue stones with white trim which gave it a nice appeal, but the darkened clouds of sulfur surrounding the sky above it made it more dreadful and evil-looking.
The rhythmic marching was the only sound we heard for about 50 minutes more. Our army shook the ground, waking up the once dead forest. Creatures scurried about to get out of the way of the controlled stampede of soldiers. We were going downhill, and soon we couldn’t see the castle anymore over the tree line. As we got closer, we had to start going through the forest because the plain had ended. Lucky for us, it wasn’t too dense. It was like it used to be a path, but over time the forest reclaimed it’s lost land. Tall grass and a few thorn bushes was the worst of our problems.
Finally we reached the tree line. I ordered the halt of the army. Sudden silence came with shocked me. It was nice to hear silence. I closed my eyes enjoying the last sound of nothing I might ever hear. After a few moments of savoring, I turned around to my men. My gang came up and stood behind me; my generals in front of their men. I looked behind me towards the castle and saw the archers already assembling.

The castle was still about a mile away, yet I could still make out their bright blue cloaks that covered their faces. I turned back to my army.
I spoke calmly. “This is it everybody.” I said, taking my helmet off. I stood up straight as all eyes fell on me. “Today will make or break all of Runescape. No retreat, and no mercy; is that clear? I will happily die for this mission, and I hope you’d do the same.” I heard behind me Yoshi whisper, “But I don’* want to die…” quickly silenced by a “Shh!” from Oreo and a thump on the head. I was still looking forward but I heard the thump. Sounded hard, but it was even harder not to laugh.
“You are the men and women who will change the world. I’m sorry but every second we waste talking, the greater time they have to assemble. I prefer action. So let’s do this!” And a deafening roar came from the troops as the cheered. Through the cheering, I approached Neo. “Make ready the rigs.* *Yes, sire!” Neo said with a slight bow.
The engineers began setting up behind the tree line, hopefully to hide our activities from Saradomin. Maybe we can get a few shots off before they know what’s happening. Still, we’d eventually have to come into range of their archers to fight off the oncoming hoard. I just hope when that comes that we’re so immersed with their soldiers that they kill as many of them as they do us.
After about 30 minutes, the trebuchets and catapults were up and fully operational. I’ve never seen equipment put up that fast. Neo’s engineers were clearly experts. The army was still behind the engineers, quietly waiting for the opposing army to approach. “Load the artillery!” I heard Neo yell. Each rig had a pulley system that utilized the strength of many men to put big boulders into the devices. I raised my hand, about to give the order to fire, when we heard great clanking sound in the distance. “Their lowering their drawbridge.” Jaya said coldly. “They are on to us.”

I gave a scowl and turned back to the engineers. “Fire!” I yelled with all my might. “And don’t stop till the walls come down!” Snapping sounds were heard as the mechanisms released. Giant boulders flew over the tree line, sailing high up into the sky, only to come down upon the great wall that protected Saradomin. Unfortunately only about one fourth of the rocks actually hit the wall. A few hit the ground in front of it, landed in the moat, or just sailed over the wall, hopefully causing some unseen damage. The rocks that hit the wall however, exploded with shocking force. A few archers instantly died or fell, but not as much as I’d hoped. This might take a while, I just hope the rest of us are up to the challenge.
Pouring out of the portcullis drawbridge came an army cloaked in light blue. Most of them were men, but some of them were not. Some were spiritual mages and spiritual soldiers, as well as animals like giants wolfs and bears, who surprisingly marched in formation with the troops. These animals had to be hypnotized or something. At the front of the army, walking on all fours, was an animal that appeared to be a mix between a wolf and a dagannot*. “Growler.” Gasped Jaya. Oreo shook his head. “It looks like Saradomin is sicking his pets on us.” A chill went up my spine. “If Growler’s here, then Bree and Starlight can’t be far behind.”
Yoshi was listening to all of this. *Ok you guys lost me. Whose Growlers, Bree, and Starlight?” Oreo started. “Growler is Saradomin’s pet and called ‘Defender of the Faithful’. He was said to be a pacifist, but that changed when Saradomin turned on us. He is now a vicious killing machine. The only unarmored place on his body is his belly, and he never reveals it.”
“Starlight is a unicorn that Saradomin blessed and endowed with powers.” Amy began. “She’s pure white, heavily armored on top with pure gold armor. Her horn is made from diamond and is said to be unbreakable. She’s called ‘The Bane of Darkness'."

Jaya then picked up. “Bree is a mighty centaur, unrivaled when it comes to archery. He could hit a flitting sparrow half a mile away. Bree is Saradomin’s personal messenger, and called to fight when situations look grim. Bree’s very presence can restore morale to the troops. He is known as ‘The Champion of Truth’.”
Then I stepped forward. “And they all answer to Commander Zilyana, who is in charge of Saradomin’s vast forces. She is an archangel, but she acts more like an arch demon. Her supernatural speed and strength makes her unstoppable with a sword and nearly impossible to kill. The only way to kill her would be to rip off her wings.”
Yoshi looked at us all, dumbfounded. “Umm… Thanks for the lesson. How’d you guys know all that stuff?”
“There is a great library in the First of 5’s head quarters known as the Knowledge Base. Jaya spent some time going through the ancient scrolls and found out all she could about Saradomin. She told us while you were sleeping.” I said. “Well…Ok. I do like sleeping.” Yoshi said dreamily.
I ran towards my army.”Attention!” I yelled. A heavy thud shook the ground as the massive army stood at attention simultaneously. “Men! This is the moment you’ve been waiting for! Beyond those walls lies a release from your suffering. Now show our enemy what 50 years of pent-up anger can do!” They all raised their swords and spears and other weapons while cheering at the top of their lungs. Even with the help I was getting from Doodle to amplify my voice I still had to yell to give the final order.
“CHARGE!* I screamed pointing my sword forward. The ground itself shifted as the soldiers thundered forward with me, Yoshi, Oreo, and Jaya running on the frontlines. I was hoping one of the regular soldiers would get a lucky shot and handle growler, if not though I knew one of us had to fight him.

A thousand feet away… Saradomin’s army marched forward still in formation. Luckily Growler was not on the frontlines anymore. Bad news is that now we don’t know where he is, and that can be very, very troublesome. 700 feet away… Another volley of rocks flew through the air towards the castle. Now a bit more precise, more than half the boulders hit their mark on the wall and shattered it where it hit. 400 feet away… A war horn was heard inside the enemy army. The enemy soldiers started breaking formation and started running. 100 feet… I could see their faces now, their solemn faces. Not one of our enemies yelled as the approached us, they but locked onto us with their eyes and wore emotionless faces.
Then I jumped forward with all my might with my shield, and the first clash of the battle was wrung as I shattered a spear. That’s it, no more silence. Just uncontrollable chaos as the two armies collided. An unstoppable force met an immovable object, and the world will never be the same.
I brought me sword down side wards, piercing the neck of some unlucky soul. Next to me Yoshi spun and just completely destroyed two people that were coming at him. Got to hand it to him, he may be dumb, but when it comes to fighting I wouldn’* want to mess with him. I brought my shield up to my left just in time to block an attack from a mace. I stabbed a guy charging me in front of me with his sword raised, then rolled my shield, throwing up the mace into the air leaving him defenseless for a millisecond. That’s all it took for me to kill him.
Yoshi and I stood back to back as we spun around fighting off foes. Through grunts, Yoshi said, “What does this remind me of?” I laughed. “Just like old times.”
Another volley of rocks soared overhead and crashed into the wall. I was too distracted to see how many hit though. I did*’t even hear them hit the wall; the sound of clashing steel was too great.
