The other gods remained ignorant of this, all except the First God, who is said to have wept tears of blood on the day the rebel mortals planned to do away with him. He did not weep for himself, but rather for his beloved children, for he saw the hardships they would inflict on themselves in their attempted rebellion. Nevertheless, he did not interfere, for he did not want to over-ride the right of his children to choose their paths in life. Thus, the rebels gathered, and using the power of Akyros, tried to destroy the First God.
The attempt failed miserably, they might have as well tried to destroy a cliffside by throwing a pebble at it. Unfortunately, the attempt not only failed, it backfired. Akyros, now unleashed, was still unable to affect the First God, but he was able to affect the mortals who had called on his power, and the land in which they lived. He ravaged them in body and spirit. Not satisfied, he destroyed Yggdrasil, the tree of life which gave the lands of the ancients unending energy and prosperity. With the tree destroyed, Akyros moved to the rest of the world, causing its decay at an alarming rate.
Seeing this, the mortal races knew what they had done and called to the gods for aid. However, the gods, horrified that mortals would dare to attack the first and most powerful of their number had left the world.
That could've been the end of the world. The mortal races could have bitterly blamed the gods for their predicament, and called curses upon them even as Akyros devoured them and their world. But thankfully, the ordeal caused by their failed rebellion had made the mortals wiser, and knowing this was their fault, they sought to make reparations to the gods.
In perfect unity, the three races gathered and came up with a plan, each would make an item to slow the advance of Akyros, and offer the item as a gift to the First God.
"He appears in the Form of a Man with many Countenances; and he hath a Book in his right hand. His Office is to teach all Arts and Sciences unto any; and to declare the Secret Counsel of any one."
