A young black knight entered Lord Darquarius’ audience hall within the Kinshra headquarters.

“You called for me, my lord?” asked the black knight.

“Indeed,” replied Darquarius, “Iban, I recently received a message from the Z.M.I… The Black Pentagram has been captured.”

Most Zamorakians upon hearing this would have flinched, or seemed distressed, Iban, however, simply smiled. This was the reaction Darquarius expected from Iban, he also anticipated what Iban was about to say.

“My lord, grant me but twenty of our order and I shall retake the temple and kill those who captured it,” requested Iban.

Darquarius sighed; the only thing that matched Iban’s skill was his ambition, “No,* replied Darquarius, “For I have a more important task for you.”

Iban’s face showed slight signs of surprise.

“There was a certain person in that temple,” continued Darquarius, “Who is of great importance to us. She was teleported out before the temple was taken, but alas, it seems that the destination of the teleport was distorted… As such, we have decided to send out a small group to find and rescue her, I wish for you to lead that group Iban.”

“Just two questions,” said Iban, “First: Is this girl the “child of chaos” everyone seems to be whispering about?”

Darquarius nodded.

“Alright then,” Iban was smiling again, the so-called “child of chaos” was meant to be a secret weapon against the Saradominists, retrieving her would definitely increase Iban’s reputation and influence. “My second question is, do we have any idea where she should be?”

“We believe her to be within the vicinity of Varrock,” answered Darquarius.

*Excellent,” said Iban, “Have my men ready, I intend to leave before dusk.” Without waiting for a reply, Iban marched out of the room.

“How strange,” commented a young man sitting on the roof of the western bank in Varrock.

A group of people in brown cloaks had just entered the city through the west gate. At first glance, the young man had thought they were just farmers or hunters coming into the city to sell their wares, but he had quickly noticed that each of them wore gloves on each of which was sown a piece of sky blue cloth cut into the symbol of Saradomin. The young man watched as the group split up, three of their number heading toward the temple of Zamorak in the southeast, while three more headed toward the slums in the southwest, and a seventh made his way toward the palace.

Keeping his eyes on the three that had entered the slums; the young man noticed they seemed to be searching for something. He waited until the three were sufficiently far apart, then teleported directly behind one of them with a precision that would have been impossible for most mages. Before the cloaked person had even realized someone was nearby, he had been soundly hit on the back of the neck, and fallen unconscious.

The young man quickly emptied the contents of the cloaked person’s bags, until he had found what he was looking for; a scroll sealed with the symbol of Saradomin.

“Oh, so it’s as I thought,” said the young man, “Temple Knights.” He muttered a short incantation as he ran his finger down the scroll. In response, the seal undid itself and the scroll opened, allowing the young man to read its contents.

“Well this is interesting,” he commented, “Find and eliminate the child of chaos, she should be somewhere within the city of Varrock.

Description: Long blonde hair and blood red eyes, has the power to use Khaurgy, the magic of chaos, hence is very dangerous.

It is imperative she is destroyed.

“So, the Saradominists and Zamorakians are at it again…” The young man closed the scroll and it resealed itself. “I wonder what kind of person this “child of chaos” is… Oh well, I think I’ll find out,” So saying, the young man teleported away.

A lady wearing a deep green cloak entered the Blue Moon Inn and sat herself at the bar.

“Ah Selene,” said the bartender, “The usual?”

“Of course,” replied the lady, handing the bartender a small bag of gold.

The bartender took the gold and counted it before handing Selene a glass of ale and a scroll of papyrus. Selene sipped the ale as she read through the scroll’s contents. She stopped for a moment and pointing at a name on the scroll asked the bartender, “What do you know of him?”

The bartender stopped cleaning the glass in his hand and looked at the name, “Archibald Rod,” he said, “Former small time merchant, lost his business after the Grand Exchange opened up, has tried to get revenge on the nobles who allowed it… He succeeded in killing one recently. If I recall he normally hung around the smithy south of the western bank after he closed shop.”

Selene half-laughed, “Nobles are so petty, paying twenty five thousand gold pieces rather than going after such easy prey themselves. Oh well, more money for me I suppose.”

“So you’re going after him?” asked the bartender.

“Easy money doesn’t always come around like this,” she replied, “So of course I’ll take it.”

Both she and the bartender turned as the door opened. A gruff man entered, followed by a girl with long blonde hair and blood red eyes. He sat down at a table and told the girl, “Now eat as much as you like, I’ll pay for it all…”

“Really?” asked the girl, smiling broadly, “In that case… bartender, bring twenty bowls of your best stew!”

“Wait, twenty?!” exclaimed the gruff man, “Can you really eat all that?”

Much to the gruff man’s surprise, the girl managed to down at all twenty bowls in less than thirty seconds, more inhaling than eating them.

“Incredible,” commented the gruff man.

“Hey,” said Selene, “Isn’t that man?”

“Abel Budd…” commented the bartender, “He runs some underground brothels for nobles who like their women “young” if you catch my drift.”

“In other words, he’s the type of person you would kill for free.”

Selene whirled around and stabbed her weapon; which consisted of a staff with curved crystal blades on both sides, at the speaker, thankfully for him, he managed to dodge. Still, Selene looked at the young man who had spoken with disgust. He returned her stare with his silver blue eyes which were sharply contrasted by his dark hair.

“You know, they way you just attacked me now, it’s almost like you did*’* want to see me,” commented the young man.

“I did*’t,” replied Selene, “You’re lucky you managed to evade my attack.”

The young man smiled, “As if I would be able to dodge if you seriously attacked me Selene. I’m not that stupid.”

Selene smiled a bit, and put down her weapon. “What do you want, Aquaregis?” she asked.

Before he could answer, there was a commotion on the other end of the bar. The girl with long blonde hair had gotten up to leave, and the gruff man, Abel Budd, had grabbed her arm.

“Not so fast,” he was saying, “I want you to see my house before you go.” The girl tried to respond, but Abel covered her mouth and began forcing her toward the door. Selene picked up her weapon again, but Aquaregis motioned for her to stop.

“Why are you stopping me?” she hissed.

As if in answer, the door burst open and a number of men in brown cloaks rushed in.

“Unhand that girl,” commanded one of them, apparently the leader.

“Yeah right,” retorted Abel, “She’s mine, I found her fair and square.”

Rather than waste words trying to reason with Abel, one of the cloaked men procured a crossbow and fired. The bolt hit Abel in the chest and exploded in a burst of dragon fire, burning Abel to cinders.

“How unfortunate,” commented the apparent leader, “We are simply here for the girl, do not interfere and you will not be harmed.”

“Mind covering me for a moment?” Aquaregis asked Selene.

“You snake,” she replied, “You knew this would happen.”

“What makes you think that?” asked Aquaregis.

Selene apparently ignored his question, “We’ll talk about this later, and you will tell me everything you know about this situation. For now, I’ll help.”

Selene dashed toward the group, felling two of them before they could react. The others attempted to stop her, but could barely keep up with her enough to block her attacks. Meanwhile, Aquaregis stood by the counter of the bar and said,
“Hear me, you who are redder then blood,
Whose enemies all lie dead under dirt and mud,
Whose power grows past time and space…
I now call thy power to this place,
Allow that I may deliver your wrath,
To those who stand against thy path.
Oh mighty Zamorak answer my plea and heed my call,
Destroy the fools who stand against you, one and all!
Now come forth, power of the chaotic god!”

Selene, who had seen this spell before and knew what to expect jumped away from the group she had been fighting. The red light hit in their center and caused a massive explosion of flames, which consumed not only the group, but the most of the inn and a portion of Varrock within a several meter radius.

Selene turned and glared at Aquaregis. “Conflagration of Chaos?!” she shouted, “What in the seven circles of Hell would possess you to use that spell in a major city?!”

“Well I would have gladly used something like “Elegy of Wisdom” but I don’t think Saradomin would lend me his power against his Temple Knights,” replied Aquaregis.

Selene twitched. “Those were Temple Knights? Great, now I’ll have that order on my tail for a while… Anyway, Aquaregis, what’s wrong with say, “Flames of Zamorak?” That’s would most mages would use if they felt it necessary to call upon the power of the gods, and it wouldn’t devastate a good portion of the city, including the girl we were protecti…” Selene trailed off, and turned in horror to where the spell had hit. Much to her surprise the girl was entirely unharmed and looking around obliviously. “What… is… she?” wondered Selene.

“In answer to the question about the Flames of Zamorak…” replied Aquaregis, “I did*’* want to waste runes, and if I call on Zamorak’s power directly, I don’t need to use them.”

“So because you’re stingy, you blasted a hole in the middle of Varrock?” demanded Selene, “And on top of that, did*’t Guthix forbid direct intervention by the gods? How come he allows a spell that calls upon their power directly?”

“Come to think of it,” said Guthix, who was watching all this from the hall of the gods. “Why do I allow spells like “Elegy of Wisdom” and “Conflagration of Chaos”?”

“There was an exemption status given to spells that call directly on a god within the contract we signed,” answered Zamorak lazily.

“Where?” Guthix asked as he pulled up a copy of the contract that he had made all the gods sign when he ended the god wars.

“See the period at the end of the last sentence?” asked Zamorak, *Use a mega-magnifying spell on it.”

Guthix cast the spell, and a floating set of words appeared above the contract reading; “All spells which call upon the power of individual gods are not considered direct intervention and are thereby exempt from the ban on divine intervention.”

Guthix actually flinched upon reading this clause, “Zamorak…” he said.

“Yes?” asked Zamorak.

“I am never letting you write another contract so long as I exist.”

“Just because you’re too stupid to check the fine print?” asked Zamorak, “Even that sissy Sara thought to use a reveal spell on the contract in order to see any and all things I slipped in.”

“Of course, so Saradomin knew about this all along,” sighed Guthix, “Why is it that the only times you and Saradomin work together is when you’re doing something against me?”

“We hate you of course,” replied Zamorak with a shrug, “Now shut up so I can watch the human world, it’s a lot more interesting than you.”

Selene, Aquaregis, and the strange girl had left Varrock quickly so as to avoid any unwanted questions by the guards, regarding “massive explosions.”

“So spill it,” ordered Selene, “Who is this girl, and why are the Temple Knights after her?”

“Why not ask her?” replied Aquaregis.

“My name is Rose,” said the girl, not waiting to be asked, “And I can’t remember anything further back than earlier today.”

“Because she has amnesia,” Selene answered Aquaregis.

“Oh well, then I guess who she is will remain a secret until she gets rid of her amnesia,” replied Aquaregis, “Maybe she’ll get over it before Iban arrives.”

“Iban is coming after her?” asked Selene, “So you do know something!”

“Well, got to go, bye!” exclaimed Aquaregis, teleporting away.

“I… hate… that guy,” muttered Selene. She then turned to the girl, “Oh well, I guess I stick with you a while until I can figure out what to do with you.”

“Aren’t you actually sticking around because you think Aquaregis will show up around me again, and you can make him answer your questions?” asked Rose.

“What the heck-how did you guess something like that?” asked Selene.

“Like what?” asked the girl, much to Selene’s surprise the girl seemed to sincerely have no clue what she had just said.

“Forget it,” said Selene, “Let’s just go to Falador, maybe we can find out more about you there.”

Thanks for pointing it out. And yes, there are quite a few changes, two major ones being that Caihoc is not a Dragon-kin and now there is that child of chaos.

Some more minor ones are that Selene's already showed up, and there will be more information given on Aquaregis (although his history hasn't really changed much, there's just more detail about it.)
