Finally, about the demons and how they return to the Void when killed. You commented that if such is the case killing demons doesn't make a difference. While this would appear to be the case, it is not actually so. I'll try to explain with a similar situation.

As you probably remember, if you die in RS, you don't stay dead, but rather return to a respawn point (Lumbridge, Falador, or Camelot), granted a few items lighter than you were before dying. Now, say I am with some friends, fighting the KBD, and I get killed. I respawn in Camelot, without most of my items, now technically, I can get back to the KBD's lair, but it will take me time to do so, furthermore, it would take more time to replace the items I lost. So while I am not permanently gone, I might as well be for all the help it gives my friends fighting the KBD.

The same thing applies for demons returning to the Void, except instead of the several minutes it would take me to return to the KBD's lair, it could take years, or even centuries for a demon to return.

Furthermore, how long it take a demon to return is based on the demon's power. The openings between realms are easier to slip through the less power a demon has. (It might help to think of these openings as being sort of like narrow rivers, a small rowboat (little power) has an easier and shorter time navigating through than a ship (great power.))

So, while a lesser demon might return several years after being defeated, a demon chieftain could take centuries or even millenia to escape again (In fact, some demons are so powerful that they are practically incapable of escaping, to influence the world, they must use avatars, which should be covered in an upcoming add).

Even after escaping, to have a lasting effect on the world around them, most demons have to create a body for themselves, or have one created (since unlike mortals, demons are pure spirits and have no natural bodies) which takes more time.

Hope this clarifies some things for you.

I would say that it was mine. Of course, "my demonology" does borrow extensively from various other demonologies, while at the same time inputting original ideas. Shadows and orange light gathered at the bottom floor of Chateau d’Diable. The guards stationed on that floor gave the shadows and light little attention as they gathered and shifted. Soon after, what appeared to be a human stood in their place. The figure wore lavish robes of gold, black, crimson and violet, and had its long black hair held in place by jeweled ornaments. The figure’s body was slim and androgynous, with no clues as to whether it was the body of a man or a woman.

“Lord Pride,” said one of the guards, saluting the newcomer, “His majesty requests that the entire Black Guard enters at once. Thus you are required to wait for the others.”

The newcomer stared at the demon that had spoken, deciding whether or not to destroy its body, eventually deciding that such an act was more trouble than it was worth, the newcomer turned to the massive golden doors standing in front of it.

Among humans, the newcomer was known as Jormungandr, but its true name was closer to the human word “Pride.” It had been this demon, Pride who had led the attempted coup against the Void King. It had failed, and been stripped of its rank as governor of Sheol, but unlike the other leaders of the coup, it had not been made to disappear. Rather, it had simply been reduced in rank to the head of the Demon Black Guard. It still did not understand the logic behind this move; the Void King could not have thought that Pride would be grateful for being spared. He would have known that the former governor of Sheol would hatch a multitude of plots to overthrow him, yet the Void King had allowed Pride to stay.

“Plotting again?”

Pride turned and found itself face to face with a young woman wearing just enough clothes to not be considered entirely unclothed. Pride knew at once that the entity it was looking at was the demon known amongst its kindred as Lechery. Lechery was a rare type of demon; while most demons could assume any form, they would first have to spend time creating that form. Lechery was different, it could change form in a matter of seconds, making itself appear any race or any gender, which aided it when attempting to seduce a mortal.

“You should know better, my dear, Pride never talks unless it’s bossing someone around,” commented another demon, this one in the form of a young man with a pointed mustache, wearing a white Victorian-style suit, a matching top hat and gem studded pince-nez glasses. Even as he spoke, the man paged through a large book that Pride knew held numerous records of financial transactions, “Incidentally,” added the man, closing the book, “Have you seen my work in Gaia? My servants there have sucked resources from the needy beyond their means, and have placed the masses in danger of poverty. It is amazing what you can do with capitalism.”

“Perhaps,” said a colossal demon with thick, leathery skin, horns larger than most humans, and razor sharp claws, “But I prefer the rough heel of communism.”

“Yet, if I recall, my capitalists soundly defeated your communists, Wrath,” replied the demon wearing a suit.

“If you wish to lose that body before our meeting, you should keep talking Greed,” snarled the colossal demon.

“That’s enough from the both of you!” shouted a demon in the form of a bird with emerald green plumage, “You bicker far too much.”

“Envy is right,” commented a young lady with razor like teeth, “We should be getting ready for our meeting with his highness.”

“And of course,” muttered Pride, “Sloth is last yet again.”

“Not... quite,* someone in the corner yawned. The six demons turned their heads, and saw a demon in the form of a human with long, tangled grey hair slowly pick itself up.

“When did you get here?” asked Lechery.

“Last meeting…” muttered Sloth.

“Four months ago?” questioned Greed, “And you’ve just lounged around all that time?”

“Meh,” replied Sloth, “One thousand, three hundred, thirty two floors are too many.”

“Regardless,” said Pride, “We’re all here, so let’s hurry into the throne room and see what his “majesty” wants this time. Open the gates.”

The demon guards on either side of the gate quickly complied, not wishing to provoke any of the members of the Demon Black Guard.

The throne room was constructed as a large hall made out of a stone similar to Obsidian. A red carpet ran down the center of the room, ending at the Void King’s throne. The throne itself was in the shape of a hydra whose seven heads spread across most of the throne room. A bright light shone from behind the throne effectively making it so one could only see the silhouette of the Void King as they approached.

“We have come, as ordered,” said Pride, “What are your orders?”

“You should have first properly greeted his majesty,” said a figure standing next to the Void King’s throne. The speaker walked forward revealing itself to be similar in appearance to what many humans think angels are like. He had silver white hair and rose pink eyes, as well as two white feathered wings which sprouted from his back, and was clad in white clothes laced with gold.

“Belial,” Pride spat out the name like venom, “Do not presume you can tell me what I ought to do.”

“Then shall I repeat what he said, and make it my order?” asked a cloaked figure bearing bat-like wings, “Please remember, Pride, you are no longer governor of Sheol, and you should learn to watch your tongue when speaking to the Void King’s personal advisor.”

“Indeed, lest you anger us as well,” added a woman who walked next to the cloaked figure. Her hair was black, her eyes blood red, and she was entirely disrobed save for a large snake which had loosely wrapped itself around her and was staring at the members of the Demon Black Guard with disinterest.

“Ah, so Lord Sammael and Lady Lilith are present as well,” commented Lechery, “Does that mean that Lady Astarte is also nearby?”

In response, a fireball sped from the shadows, heading directly toward Wrath. The massive demon ducked and charged at the fireball** source, howling wildly. Just before he smashed into the wall, a figure jumped from the shadows, landing safely away from the enraged demon, and revealing itself to be in the form of a young lady with short, bright red hair, and deep brown eyes. She turned to Wrath, waiting for the demon to notice her, before promptly flicking him off. Wrath immediately broke into another charge, but abruptly halted as the Void King calmly said, “Stop.”

Immediately, all heads in the throne room turned to the Void King’s throne. The Void King himself paused for a moment before continuing, “Zaros has set plans into motion that will allow his return to Gielinor. If he succeeds in returning it will allow us to gain a foothold in the mortal realms, however, Zaros has… a bad history of acting on his own while in the mortal realms, which is why I called you here.

Belial.”

“Yes, your majesty?” said the demon.

“Zaros has a servant named Ruko. Appear to Ruko in a dream, and have him perform a spell that will summon avatars of the Demon Black Guard,” ordered the Void King.

“It will be done,” said Belial, vanishing.

“Needless to say, you members of the Demon Black Guard are to assume avatars and allow yourselves to be summoned into Gielinor,” said the Void King, “Aid Zaros’ return, and keep an eye on him, am I understood?”

After the members of the Demon Black Guard voiced their affirmation, the Void King added, “Oh, and just so you’re aware, any attempts to double-cross me while you are in the mortal realms will be met with swift and terrible punishment, now, prepare yourselves.”

Back in Ardougne, the warlock Ruko suddenly awoke, his eyes widening at the dream he had just had. His master, Zaros had appeared to him and informed him of a spell that would aid in Zaros’ return. Barely able to contain his excitement, Ruko slipped out of the Ardougne palace and made his way to the sewers, where he normally performed his dark arts.

Without hesitation, he preformed the incantation that Zaros had taught him in his dream, calling forth servants of the Void into Gielinor. However, he quickly realized something was wrong; the creatures he called were too powerful to be normal servants of Zaros. With shock and horror, he realized that the power he had called forth was too much for him, and, overwhelmed, collapsed onto the ground.

“Well, that was fun,” commented Pride as he looked down at the collapsed warlock, “However, we can’t have him able to alert Zaros of our arrival, so… Sloth, if you would.”

Sloth sighed and moved forward, placing its hands on Ruko’s head and sealing away all memory of what had happened that night. After Sloth had finished, Pride teleported Ruk* back into his bed with a flick of the wrist and turned to the other members of the Demon Black Guard.

“Alright,” said Pride, “Everyone, to your duties.”

Without waiting for any clarification, the members of the Demon Black Guard teleported away.
