Then Telvern found his view of the now darkening sky blocked by Soter sitting on top of him. A barrage of fists then came plunging down upon the face of the genius. Soter angrily poured every ounce of himself into making each punch worst than the last. Punch after punch after punch, the indignation of the normally docile titan knew no end.

His wrath shown in a roar fit for war, screaming off of the top of his lungs as it echoed throughout the world. And Telvern just took it all, even when his arms were free to defend himself; even with the murderous dagger still in his hand. The punches just kept on coming, but slowly they weakened and got slower like an overworked piston.

Elena quickly rushed over, grabbing onto Soter's shoulder. "That's enough, Soter," she advised. "If you keep going, you're going to kill him."

Soter glared backwards, his eyes beaming at Elena. "It doesn't matter!" the messenger fiercely declared. "This monster killed him! He killed my son!"

"And how are you going to avenge him?" quickly asked Elena. "By letting his murderer get the easy way out?" Soter paused then, pondering for a moment the message that the archer was attempting to get out to him. Soter's eyes glared down at Telvern's face; his broken, bloodied face. He pulled away his crimson-covered fists, his boiling breath lightened up.

He turned to Elena as he began to calm himself down. Elena gazed down at Telvern, his face swollen and covered in blood. An obvious broken nose and a broken jaw were just scratches on the surface of his injuries. Somehow though, this ever resilient snake was still breathing, albeit it was swallow and barely fit for living. She quickly shifted her eyes to Soter. "Heal him," the archer swiftly demanded. "He doesn't look like he'll hold up for much longer."

Regretfully, Soter knew that she spoke truth. Part of him believed, "so what?" But he couldn't just let him die... No, that would be too easy for him. He placed his right hand upon the brutalized head of the genius, the swelling quickly melted, the broken and open were mended. The genius' eyes then reopened, feeling the cold, reddened steel upon his forehead.

Soter lifted up his hand, quickly rising to his feet. He then began walking away from him, but not before stopping just beside Elena. "I swear upon my lord Guthix's name, I will kill that man," Soter mumbled a promise to Elena before he began walking away from her. He stepped closer to Uriel's body, which once he was there, he picked up.

In his arms, the boy's limp body laid. Soter then stepped away from the flame-consumed area, the boy with him. His face apathetic, his eyes -- his very existence -- truly lamented the loss. Tears had begun to fall from that emotionless façade, the ruler of his sternness being overthrown in a heated usurpation by another.

Elena stepped forward, her black leather boots digging into the dirt. She stood there, overlooking the murderer of a boy, a mere child. Hideous, violent, hateful thoughts meandered onward, screams for vengeance rambling on. It was a desperate battle, signs of the struggle included her hands to clench rather tightly.

She wrestled with thoughts, another being whispering the words she truly wished would come true. With a blade close to her -- in fact, right at hand -- it began to shake to showcase the battle. She heard subtle murmurs as if a person's lips were just beside her ear. Such sweet, wonderful words, a yearning for something she never felt before.

This was a first, the yearn of the death of another one she had never truly wanted. But this... this was a overwhelming hunger: the hunger for his murder. That man she wanted to kill fixed his stoic gaze upon her. Through somewhat of a pain-staked, blurred view, he was able to clearly make out the epic strife that manifested itself upon her.

But this woman realized that she couldn't, it simply wasn't in her place to decide his fate. She then leaned downwards, her right hand reaching for the man's throat. Grasping upon it tightly, she then began to pick him up by the neck. She literally lifted him off of the ground, causing the genius' face to become a grimace.

Telvern then would have a rough landing, her putting-him-down not all that desirable. "So, were you too scared?" the genius questioned her. "I thought you would do whatever it took to prevent letting those you care for down."

Elena then closed her eyes. "I know what you're doing, Telvern," she stated.

"And what am I doing, exactly?" he curiously asked.

"You're trying to provoke me into attacking you," the archer answered.

"Heh... Am I really that transparent?" he wondered with a light laugh, not even trying to deny it. He then turned to her, facing indignation. "So, what is to become of me, then?"

She then reopened her rancor-filled eyes, her normal human eyes glared harshly upon the man, lunging furiously into him. "I'm not going to give you the satisfaction of no longer having to think or feel guilty by killing you," Elena explained her feelings. "No... you're going to be placed in a cell. And then, you're going to be waste away, thinking about what you did every second of every single minute for the rest of your life. Then -- and only then -- will I ever be truly content."

"How very generous of you," Telvern thought, unable to believe his 'luck.' "It's not every day you get extended such a mercy."

"I suggest you stop talking now," Elena advised him, then putting away her blade. "I might just reconsider it." An altering situation occurred, one that would truly sculpt something completely unpredictable. A heavy blow dealt once more to the Resistance, it had truly begun to feel like a unfair battle, a fight of an unarmed, untrained man against an expert swordsman.

Soter carried off Uriel's body, passing by men, women, and children from all walks of life. They paused in horror, seeing the life of a child taken. But they knew such a reality was one they faced. They mourned the loss, their hearts ached with grief. Some even cried, after the boy had assisted them in the beginnings of their recuperation or perhaps even saved their life.

What was left of Lumbridge gathered, lining up on the sides of the streets as if a parade were going by. Whoever he passed would lower their head, respectfully but sorrowfully lamenting the loss of one of their own. Elena would be coming in a bit further behind Soter, in front of her was Telvern. She had stripped from him the very tools that aided him, making this summoner completely disarmed.

There was plenty of whispering and silent talking going around. As everyone could see, it was him that was the killer. Though, some couldn't help but to speculate exactly how it was that Uriel was killed. Some even wondered if maybe "that god" had something to do with it. The archer had heard those things, pushing them off in the back of her head.

And thus, a day would go by. A lamentful day came around, and then it fled into the night. Telvern the murderer was thrown away in a prison cell. He sat in the cell beside the one that Lanius of the past resided in. He was there, all alone, paralyzed by the darkness. His back against the cold, hard, stone wall, thoughts as black as the world around him flourishing. Indeed, he made sure that Elena's desire would come true.

He wasted away as she wished, his mind blighted by thoughts of remorse and regret. Of that boy whose life he claimed, of everything he did and said to Telvern. His voice, his face, everything besieged him, screamed at him. They swirled around in his brain, consuming every inch of his mental space. Try as he might, the thoughts stood still and were completely immovable.

Frantically, he tried thinking of others. But the power of that distraction, even banded together with others, paled in comparison to the strength of those echoing, almighty lords. Their tyrannical, overwhelming rule was one that would last for eons, perhaps even for an eternity. He was its servant, its slave, never meant to have a mind of his own. He was stuck there, collar to his neck, ball and chain to his ankle.

He covered his ears, closed his eyes, hid his face in his knees, and ran as fast as he could...

...But he was unable to escape it. They found him, they always found him. The sounds, the images, all the memories. Like a broken record, playing over and over and over until he got completely sick of it. But no matter how much he begged, how much he pleaded, the noisy, inescapable record kept on playing its tune. A haunting hymn, a harmony of havoc blared, possibly shattering that mirror reflecting Telvern's image in the process.

Elena sat all by her lonesome, sitting up in a area she always seemed to find herself in. Darkness had surely fallen upon everything, around the world and within her heart. The dim, silver shaft of light cast down upon her in this last night of cold. Her right hand firmly upon that arm cloak, that red-washed cloth.

She stared down upon the town of Lumbridge, she was able to see everything. Every single torches that kept the town at least decently lit up made it seem like it was on fire. She thought about so much, all that occurred. Her heart grieved, bled... but it just wasn't even enough to recover. Struck with pain, she sighed lightly.

She sat there at the front edge of the castle, top floor. She felt the gentle breeze tease her hair, the smell of cool crispness. A sound then came from behind her, but she didn't respond to it. She was there, just staring out into space. "...Elena?" another sound then called her out with concern. Still, she would not be moved. This caused the voice to grow. "Elena!"

No, it still wasn't enough to call her back. She then heard a rush of footsteps charge at her, growing in both closeness and worry. She then felt the presence of a person to her left, his eyes heavy upon her. It was Raphael, the leader of the Resistance. She didn't bother to turn to him, but she could feel his worry just by the sense in the air.

"Elen—!" he then spoke at her ear as he grabbed onto her left shoulder. He noticed something different about her shoulder. Upon further examination of Elena, he had noticed a particular new piece of clothing upon her: Uriel's arm cloak. His finger then pointed it out, whipping at the article of clothing. "Why are you wearing Uriel's cloak? And why is it covered in blood!?"

She turned to Raphael, greeting him with a very faulty smile. "Oh, hello Raphael," Elena acknowledged him. "Sorry, I was so caught up in thought that I didn't even notice that you were there!"

This obviously rehearsed address, not to mention the blood, would only intensify his concern. His eyes then frantically relocated the archer. One final question then hung on his tongue, one that surely would deliver the final knockout blow. "...Where's Uriel?" Raphael questioned, his heart had begun to feel uncertain.

"Ah, he went to bed a couple of—"

" Elena! " Raphael shouted angrily, interrupting her very apparent lie. His yelling voice would then break apart the illusion, sending her back into reality. "Stop lying to me! Tell me what happened."

She froze up, petrified by the thought of the situation. Her lips quivered, her eyes had begun to tear up. Her right hand then grabbed onto the cloak, gripping it so very strongly, making it age a hundred years. Raphael was caught off-guard by this change, drawing closer to her. "What's wrong!?" he then asked. "What happened to Uriel!?"

"He's gone..." she confessed, finally bringing an answer to his many questions. "He's gone, Raphael..."

He was reasonably shocked by this statement, moving back slightly. "What!?" his voice then bolted, stunned by this piece of information. "How!? What happened!?"

"Telvern," she mumbled a name, a name that had been on Raphael's mind. "Balor gave him orders to kill Uriel. I... I heard him talking to him and I went down to face him."

Raphael then stood up, hearing her words; her words that told him that she went against her promise. "You confronted him?" Raphael then said, angry. "You swore to me that you wouldn't!"

"What was I supposed to do!?" she said back. "Just walk away, pretend I didn't hear anything, and let Uriel die!?"

"Well, it wouldn't have mattered, would it have?" the leader continued to attack. "Either way, it's the same result!"

"His Talon Beast surprised me, what was I supposed to do!?"

"Why didn't you use your powers?!" he then threw out an answer. "You didn't hesitate to use them when your life was at threat! If he meant so much to you like you claim, you could have overlooked your hatred of them for the sake of his life!"

"I did use them," she informed him.

"Obviously too late," Raphael asserted with ire. "Otherwise, Uriel would still be here!"

Raphael's hands then tightened, his face mimicking his rage. "In fact," he continued. "can't the same be said about the Governanti Resistance?! If you had told them earlier about Balor's powers, they could have been warned! Their deaths, they could have been prevented!"

Elena lowered, closing her eyes to listen to what Raphael had to say to her. She knew that deep down, this was truly Raphael's raw and real beliefs, his real thoughts. Forget all that he had 'told' her, this was in fact what he knew as the truth, the real truth. "And what about the people of Lumbridge!" Raphael's voice lashed with wrath. "If you had told us about your lineage earlier, we could have better prepared for the attack! And all those people... could have been saved!"

Raphael's head then lowered. "I swore I wouldn't let anyone else die," he mentioned. "I leave Lumbridge in your care, and now Uriel's dead!? I..."

"You didn't let Uriel die," Elena corrected, standing up to her feet. Her eyes then opened, those pale blue circles gazing seriously upon Raphael. "I did."

She then began walking towards the ladder, but not before stopping right next to Raphael. "I understand what you're saying," Elena confirmed, placing her right hand upon his right shoulder. He then looked at her with large eyes, like he had just suddenly lost all breath. "...Don't worry about me anymore, okay?"

She then began walking away from him, heading towards the ladder. His head followed her, trying to say something but his voice cowered. In disbelief of what it was that he conjured, his heart sunk deeper and deeper. A foul, disturbing, growling wind fluttered on by him, just what had he done? And just as this wind faded away, she did as well. She's gone now, out of his presence.

The night felt long, much longer than usual. It dragged on, strolling about like a man without care. It was brutal and harsh, taking its toll upon the young man who had said such horrendous things. In the commander's room, his mind teased him constantly. He heard what sounded like knocking, thus tempting his voice. But he would always get no response, causing him sadness.

Like a child upon the night of Christmas Eve, she was awake throughout the night, unable to sleep. Sitting upon her bed with her eyes to the window, Elena thought. The moon peering at her, wondering exactly what it was that she was doing, wondering why she was still awake upon this night. She had gone through many things, those words that Raphael told to her especially. It was like a constant feedback in her head, his voice always holding on.

She turned to Uriel's arm cloak, remembering his smile as he laid dying and his final words. She cradled that cloth, pressing it up against her face. The shock and pain of his death lingered on in her heart, for this she had begun to cry. She let loose a heart-wrecking wail, the memories of the boy she knew since he was eight like a phantom. She painfully recollected him, wallowing in complete and utter despair.

As her lament devoured her, the darkness of the night would fade. Indeed, its death gave birth to the light. The sun rose into the cloudy sky, the coming of the season of rebirth upon them. But it was exact opposite of life to be felt here, here the town of Lumbridge. The morning gave away to mourning, the living under black cloaks here to send off the departed.

The few still living stood in this crowd, in that very familiar place. The cemetery, where their loved ones who no longer stood with them rested. They gathered around, tears running down their face. Their sobs heard, breaking through barriers of the priest's words as he spoke. Raphael, Daevarro, and Soter were all there, standing beside the survivors, the people of Lumbridge.

Raphael, being at the front of the crowd, turned his eyes as far right as he could. All he could think about was her, of the messed up things he said. It hurt him, how angry he was at himself. How dare he say such terrible things. His own words echoed in his head, and of the very last thing she said to him: "...Don't worry about me anymore, okay?"

Raphael truly had felt horrible about it all, and only prayed that there was a way to make it up to her. He turned his gaze back to the priest, keeping his head down. The young leader composed himself, keeping sorrow for both of those he's known since the beginning maintained. The priest's words rung all across the cluttered morning sky, feeling the tears of any and all who had come here today.

The words were loud enough to reach even that archer above, the one that Raphael had on his mind. She was in that exact same spot that was in the night prior. She felt the morning air pass her by, the sting of night's chill still lingering. She just blankly stared off, her emotionless gaze took ahold of the town of Lumbridge, a place she had grown to love like home.

She felt nothing, yet was in a terrible amount of agony. So utterly numb to everything, yet so very wounded like a part of her very being was ripped out. She had no more tears to cry, not after last night and all the times before then. No, instead, she had fallen into a dark place, a crevice thats bottom was uncertain and bleak.

The thought of what had happened last night grew steadily, both in her brain and in her heart. Raphael's words were a double-edged sword cutting into her, with it brought both pain and clarity. His words echoed all throughout her being, shattering any notion she had made before her. She so foolishly followed something, something she just now found.

She had been walking a trail of deception leading to herself, she realized as she listened to the priest. She had been running away from reality, finding herself in this fake world she made. At first, she didn't want to think about their deaths upon her conscience. But now she knew that that was her way to shield herself from the words that would follow her everywhere.
